WELCOME Closing the Digital Equity Gap Welcome to the New Orleans Tech & Learning Leadership Summit! Over the next two days, we will discuss ways in which your district is working to close the digital equity gap. We will kick off our event with a visit to The National WWII Museum, where Summit attendees will experience an immersive tour of one of the nation’s most innovative museums. Attendees will also learn about the Museum’s distance learning programs and tour through the newest building on campus, the Hall of Democracy. Attendees will also learn about the strategies and technologies utilized in the Museums K-12, lifelong learning, and higher ED Online programs. On Friday, we will explore digital equity issues and how they intersect with the FCC’s new regulations for the use of E-rate Category 2 on-campus funding. This will be followed by small group discussions where attendees can share stories about how they have worked to close the equity gaps in their districts through innovative initiatives. We’ll then move into a series of workgroups, where you will have the opportunity to network with your peers and discuss key topics vital to your work. Themes addressed will include changing pedagogy, emerging technology, blended learning, digital citizenship, data security, and more. It is our hope that each of you will walk away with solutions to some of your most challenging concerns, actionable ideas that you can begin to implement in your own districts, and an expanded professional network of colleagues and friends with whom you can continue a fruitful dialogue. In our follow-up report to be published in Tech & Learning, we’ll be sharing highlights and key takeaways from our experiences here in New Orleans. Enjoy! The FCC is releasing new regulations for the use of E-rate Category 2 oncampus funding. Find out how these changes can support your digital initiatives.
