MEGA PROJECTS MANAGEMENT STRATEGY WITH TIME-PRESSING PROGRAMS Dr. Assem El-Gazzar, stressed that the first goal of the National Strategic Plan for Urban Development in Egypt 2052 is to double the Egyptian public from 7% to 14%, to provide development opportunities Various, and finding new containers for urbanization to accommodate the population increase, and all the activities needed by the population, as the area of the current globe, have become unable to meet economic needs in light of the steady population increase, indicating that the concept of urban development is not limited only to the establishment of For cities and housing, it extends to include all aspects of development in various fields Agriculture, Industry, Education, Tourism, etc…) Because of urbanism is the (pot of development) which is the command of God Almighty for ”Saydna Adam” to reconstruct in the land. To achieve the strategic goal of doubling the world, at the top of the national projects, the national road network to reach new urban development areas or priority urban development projects, indicating that the city is not only for housing but is a (pot of development) as development Without a container, it contains, it is fragile and not sustainable.

To achieve the strategic goal of doubling the world, at the top of the national projects, the national road network to reach new urban development areas or priority urban development projects, indicating that the city is not only for housing but is a (pot of development) as development Without a container, it contains, it is fragile and not sustainable.

DR. ASSEM, THE GOALS OF THE NATIONAL STRATEGIC PLAN FOR URBAN DEVELOPMENT IN EGYPT 2025 ARE TO DOUBLE THE EGYPTIAN PUBLIC FROM 7% TO 14%”

DR. ASEEM “THE CITIES ARE LIKE HUMANS, AS THERE IS A CITY (NASCENT, EMERGING, YOUNG, OLD), AND THE EXISTING URBANIZATION IN EGYPT SUFFERS FROM DISEASES OF AGEING”. The role of new cities (areas of entrepreneurship and business, such as the new administrative capital, etc..., to form a strong structure that supports existing cities in the performance of their assigned roles, along with the performance of modern roles (such as smart cities), along with providing the state with an opportunity to interfere in the reform, and development of urbanization based.

Dr. Assem added, that we do not have enough time to implement new cities and various development project, and therefore we press the timelines for the implementation of development projects, which requires a large investment in a short period to implement the infrastructure for urban expansion, and that 6 billion pounds have been spent within 21 months to stimulate and accelerate development rates, while what was spent in the new city of Fayoum, which was issued by a Republican decision to establish it in 1999, is only 2.4 billion pounds.

DR. ASEEM, ” THE STATE IS NOT A REAL ESTATE DEVELOPER, BUT RATHER AN URBAN DEVELOPER, WORKING TO FIND NEW AREAS FOR URBAN DEVELOPMENT ”

We start to work on its development through the implementation of infrastructure works, basic services (schools — universities — hospitals — etc.., and some leading development projects, Pump huge investments into it and implement a huge network of national roads to reach new urban development areas, in order to provide an opportunity for real estate investors and developers to complete the development process with those new urban communities, for example, the new city of El Alamein, which we create to be a pole for development (Multi-activities), the capital of a new province planned (El Alamein), where 15 billion pounds have been spent for the establishment of new universities in El Alamein.

Dr. Assem stressed the need for good management of projects with compressed time programs, efficiency in the use of time, parallel work in various components of the project, and discipline at work, to raise performance efficiency, not only from the technical side, but also from the engineering side, explaining there is a training institute for the construction craft, in cooperation with the Chinese company implementing the central business area project in the new administrative capital, to work on training Egyptian engineers, and workers and transferring modern experiences to them, directing the invitation the students of engineering colleges — civil department, to see the methods that It has been worked on in this project.

The Minister emphasized that the new administrative capital (the new administrative center for finance and business) was planned to contribute to solving Cairo's problems and crises, and its location was also chosen on two regional roads (Ismailia — Suez), to serve the Suez Canal development hub project, and be launching for comprehensive development in Sinai.

THE MINISTER POINTED OUT THAT THE EXPERIENCE THE STATE IS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING IN IMPLEMENTING MAJOR PROJECTS WITH COMPRESSED TIMETABLES WILL ENRICH AND IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE URBAN SECTOR IN EGYPT, WHETHER ON THE SIDE OF THE CONTRACTING COMPANIES OR FROM AN ADMINISTRATIVE AND FINANCIAL POINT OF VIEW. 47 2020

CLOUD OF LUSTER WEDDING CHAPEL TETSUYA MATSUMOTO PLATINUM A' DESIGN AWARD

Inspired by modern Japanese wedding ceremonies, the Cloud of Luster chapel was designed to celebrate lightness, brightness, and a smooth transition to a happy future life. Reflected in the organic curves and natural light of the design, these ideals are translated into the physical space.

This resort design uses a modern language to combine local culture and historical context. The designer was inspired to create a geometric cloud using origami-like irregular shapes. The quiet interior and striking exterior create an intriguing tension that draws people into the space.

Z LINE HOUSE

REVANO SATRIA

SOLAR SKYWALKS

PETER KUCZIA PLATINUM A' DESIGN AWARD

PLATINUM A' DESIGN AWARD The designers' foundational idea of combining the most fundamental architectural knowledge with an unorthodox design approach led to a visually fascinating yet wholly functional and efficient home. The building's geometry maximizes the potential of the existing site, while the interior was designed to allow for both horizontal and vertical fluidity.

With the aim of upgrading cities' current pedestrian bridges, this design clads them in aesthetically pleasing photovoltaics to generate solar energy for escalators, lighting, e-bike charging stations, and more. These sculptural bridges were developed for existing sites in Beijing, but with the idea that they could be adapted to any context. To eliminate monotony, over 80 designs have been developed with the use of just one size of rectangular PV panel.

SHANXIAO SALES PAVILION

HK PORT PASSENGER CLEARANCE BUILDING CROSS BORDER CROSSING FACILITY

LARRY WEN GOLD A' DESIGN AWARD

AEDAS PLATINUM A' DESIGN AWARD

This small scale sales center is detailed delicately to provide a sense of being hidden in nature. Inspired by the natural setting and landscape of Nanshan, the building refines traditional architectural culture with modern technical language and artistic techniques to create an experience of seclusion for visitors.

Serving as a new "front door" for Hong Kong, the Passenger Clearance Building sees constant movement and a steady stream of travelers. The building is meant to celebrate travel and nature in a site surrounded by water and with views to the mountains beyond. The sweeping modular roof form allowed for efficient and high-quality off-site production.

THE LINEAR HOUSE

WARM TRANSPARENCY CLINIC YOSHIAKI TANAKA GOLD A' DESIGN AWARD

CHRISTOS PAVLOU GOLD A' DESIGN AWARD

The clients for this clinic wanted an environment that featured wood to express warmth and comfort, which the designers then utilized on the interior and exterior of the building. The large wooden eaves extend the clinic's bubble of security to beyond its exterior walls, providing a safe and comfortable outdoor space for patients.

The landscape of linear vineyards and olive groves inspired the form for this house, which is oriented parallel to the rows surrounding it. This orientation also allows for optimal sun angles, natural breezes, and views. Linear elements on the home's interior recall the exterior form as well.

ALILA WUZHEN HOTEL

ERC AUTUMN VILLAGE RECEPTION CENTER

GOA: LU HAO & ZHANG XUN

GOLD A' DESIGN AWARD

WEY DUAN LUO GOLD A' DESIGN

The minimalist design of this hotel eschews decorative elements in favor of fine materials and simple forms. In the characteristic nature of traditional villages, the individual buildings cluster in a repetitive manner and seem to grow out organically from one another.

This reception center for an apartment complex is focused on the reading room, trying to break the stereotype of a typical reception space. By integrating a cafe, bookstore, and reception center into one space, the designers are pushing back against the disappearance of physical bookstores in the digital era by creating a truly multifunctional space.

TIBETAN EAGLE CAMPSITE ZHE YANG GOLD A' DESIGN AWARD

This campsite complex takes advantage of the site's existing natural terrain and elevation to ensure that none of the buildings block each other's views. The appearance of the main building is also shaped by the terrain, symbolizing an eagle spreading its wings on the lakeshore.

BIENVILLE HOUSE DUPLEX NATHAN FELL GOLD A' DESIGN AWARD The family of this house was tired of spending all their time indoors, whether at work, school, or at home. Yet they preferred the city to the suburbs, so wanted to make the most out of the small, urban lot. The design creates transparency between the interior and exterior spaces on the first floor, with more private spaces on the upper floor. Communal spaces were configured to have the most access to natural daylight, ventilation, and volume - creating bright, open spaces.

XIANG LI PLATINUM A' DESIGN AWARD

This campsite complex takes advantage of the site's existing natural terrain and elevation to ensure that none of the buildings block each other's views. The appearance of the main building is also shaped by the terrain, symbolizing an eagle spreading its wings on the lakeshore.

The creation of this branded space is envisioned to be able to expand as this chain restaurant grows. Inspired by the restaurant's most well-known dish, the designers wanted to recreate the feeling of springtime in a coconut tree forest. The abstracted coconut trees are represented by green-plated steel elements and when paired with the striking central light feature, the entire environment is one of a fantasy world.

K11 MUSEA SHOPPING MALL

POLYOT RESTAURANT JULIEN ALBERTINI & ALINA PIMKINA PLATINUM A' DESIGN AWARD

K11 MUSEA PLATINUM A' DESIGN AWARD

This mall goes beyond shopping to celebrate art, culture, and design. The central atrium features hundreds of programmable lights to simulate a galaxy, while the sculpture stretching over the escalator recalls the well-known form of the buttress roots of Hong Kong's banyan trees.

Reminiscent of the set of a sci-ďŹ movie, the Polyot restaurant interior conveys energy, speed, and dynamism with streamlined shapes and asymmetrical angles. The decor creates an aura of futurism, inspiration, and invigoration with its sleek, minimal, yet impactful design elements.

PARK ZOO HOTEL

NINE COURT MANSION RESIDENTIAL LANDSCAPE

XIANG LI PLATINUM A' DESIGN AWARD

SHENZHEN IN LAB DESIGN AND CONSULTANCY PLATINUM A' DESIGN AWARD This landscape project is meant to recall China's traditional roots in the midst of industrial advancement, while improving the quality of life of the residents through the use of modern design. The juxtaposition between vernacular and modern aims to draw attention back to important Chinese traditions and culture.

Designers hope with this themed hotel to draw attention to the increasing numbers of endangered animals worldwide. The use of color, graphics, and minimalist patterns recalls the aesthetics of a modern art gallery, while the animal sculptures encourage visitors to stop and reect on their global impact.

LE BLE D'OR RESTAURANT

SOREC HORSE PARK GRANDSTAND

LI SHOU HUNG & JHENG CIN FANG - PINHAU GOLD A' DESIGN AWARD This restaurant aims to make use of the retro trend in design by creating a nostalgic, industrial aesthetic. Recycled iron pieces and beer bottle walls create unique visual effects throughout the space, giving the illusion of twisting and traveling through space and time upon entering.

VICKY CHAN GOLD A' DESIGN AWARD The twisting form of this structure was inspired by the movement of a running horse, while also reacting to solar conditions and optimal views. The site is organized to be utilized as a park, while having the ability to view the horse races in the background, maximizing the central green space.

The “twisting tower in Milano City Life, named today Generali Tower, Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects powerfully soars above the city, being anew landmark with a futuristic mood. The Architecture of the tower is visible, what we don’t see but makes such a peculiar building physically feasible, are the structures, visible only when the construction is growing. This is the result of the Structural Design by Redesco (Research-Design-Consulting), a true Italian excellence in the engineering sector that has authored the structures of some of the most important buildings of the recent modernisation of Milan.

The Tower Conceiving and developing the structures for the Generali Tower has been the perfect example of Structure-Architecture interaction. Starting from a complex set of problems, Redesco team applied an holistic approach based on the premise that “simplicity is complexity resolvedâ€? (K. Brancusi), thus imagining and implementing a structural system that did match with Architecture, safety, economy, functionality and buildability in the most efďŹ cient way.

From the beginning of the project, some main challenges had to be addressed: above all how to cope with the torsion of the tower, induced by the warping of the columns around the core, while choosing the most efďŹ cient materials, shapes and construction methods. Once set the conceptual basis of the project in terms of structural members lay-out, Redesco decided, after a thorough evaluation of structural alternatives, to go for a reinforced concrete structure, being the one that maximized the beneďŹ t/cost ratio.

75 2020

Similar to the challenge of structural physics, the innovation of this project consisted in implementing a method that would pair with the parametric approach of Zaha Hadid Architects. All structural simulations, analysis, drawings and detailing were developed with advanced tools and in-house software that followed the mathematical method set by the Architects in designing the Tower’s shape. The whole Structural Design, from concepts to final construction documentations, has been created by means of parametric tools. The final stage of the Design has also been implemented in BIM, in full coordination with other Design disciplines.

Redesco’s role in the Generali Tower Structural Design has been extended from the initial conceptual stages all the way through to the Construction phase, so that we had the chance to follow the design until the tiniest detailing, rebar scheduling, steelwork joints and details and moreover to cooperate with the Contractor in defining construction methods, sequences, monitoring of the structural behaviour and checking of results.

A more efficient structure albeit extremely more complex to design and calculate than any solution made of steel. Concrete means a highly non-linear material: the structure’s deformations are evolving during and after construction. To control and forecast with precision the evolutive behaviour of the structure has been the key to success, not only in order to understand how internal forces and stresses changed in the structural organism, but moreover to allow the façade, internal elements, installations to be designed to strict tolerances and no waste.

The complexity of the spatial resisting phenomenon of the Tower required to dwell into the most advanced Structural Engineering tools and methods, and to perform a substantial amount of research. The leading of ZHA proved to be a key factor to success, since the strict and creative cooperation with the Architects lead to a clean, simple, extremely optimized layout of the structure and a deep coherence of all the building’s elements.

77 2020

The Podium Redesco has been in charge of the Structures of the “free form” volume of the Podium, which is the visible part above the upper plaza level. The complexity of this Structure arises from the coexistence of an extremely high number of constraints: from one side, the columns could only rest on the regular grid of the parking structures below, on the other side, the freedom of form, internal arrangement, density of functions of the Podium asked for an extremely sophisticated structural strategy.

Finally, one of the most challenging aspects of the structure is its being built across a series of structural joints: joints between different parts of the underground parking structure and joints between the Tower base and the surrounding systems.

A sophisticated study of details and structural behaviour, that allows each different part to settle independently, has been carried on. Also for the Podium Redesco has been appointed to design and follow the Structures from the conceptual stages down to the detailing and construction phase.

The structural arrangement was born by parametrically coupling of the external surface to be respected and the internal constraints: the whole structural frame was generated automatically by combining all the constraints in a graphic algorithm. Based on this frame, that includes very long spans, column deviations and cantilevers, optimization and recurrent operations have been carried on the structural members in order to achieve the maximum cost-efficiency and structural soundness. All the structures are in steel, including the façade sub-structure that consisted in many hundreds of different frames.

ARCHITECTURE IS A VISUAL ART AND THE BUILDINGS SPEAK

Speaking of style, this brings us to the next criteria. unique style in architecture. This is another thing strongly related to someone’s personality, but you have to admit when someone has style, and unique taste, this called a gift. 81 2020

Called House D, the property comprises a 70-year-old two-story house madeof brick, and a perpendicular four-story-high steel extension, which was added 20 years ago.

Confronted with the constant chaos of the city, the house juxtaposes against its urban context by introverting itself through spatial subtraction, creating a void that denotes its noisy context, only to remain a moment of internal monologue, poetic stillness, reection, contemplation, and connection. Elliptical in geometry, the void carves along the horizontal side of the house toward the steel structure to the back, continuing upward to the roof forming the receding pattern of the oors above. The spatial abstraction of the void’s geometry ismaterialized. It does not just convey aesthetic as how it used to be, but more commercial construed, whose logic at some point in the future will expire, and it rather expires quickly.

Architecture has changed since commercialization.

As the void sits in silence, denoted of distractions, it is the embodiment of the purity of emotion, triggering a sense of subtlety in the Vietnamese understanding of nature, despite the ambiguity of programmatic function.

KIENTRUC O introduced the light well between the buildings to provide the residents with an outdoor space secluded from the busy city road that runs along the front.

At the atrium’s bottom, an elliptical reflecting pool is shielded by the busy road by a perforated wall of stacked white tiles that wraps around it creating a secluded, serene communal space.

The filigree-like texture of the stacked tiles is picked up by the gridded white metal roof that covers the street-facing space on the other side of that wall, which, seen from the upper floors, blocks out the unbuilt area to accentuate the well’s shape, Specially designed holes allow the trees on the ground level to grow through this metal lattice, creating a soil-less planted area on the floor above.

The roof above the old yard is made of gridded white metal that allows daylight to shine through, while circular openings provide gaps for trees to grow up through, on this upper level, greenery is also planted along the edge of a paved walkway.

ASPECT Studios PUBLIC SPACE, LANDSCAPE SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA Architects: ASPECT Studios Area: 5250 m² Year: 2019 Photographs: Brett Boardman

l

Public realm of Darling Square which was designed by ASPECT Studios is unveiled in Sydney. The mixed-use precinct, being developed by Lendlease, brings together residential, commercial, retail uses and community facilities, anchored around a new public square.

Darling Square sits on the site of the former Entertainment Centre and car park, south of the revitalized Darling Harbor Live precinct. Recognizing the potential of the site, Lendlease ran a limited design ideas competition to develop new concepts for the design of the public square and adjacent laneway. ASPECT Studios won the competitive process in late 2014 and was subsequently engaged by Lendlease to develop the design for the public domain across Darling Square.

With a renewed sense of place and position, urban connections are forged, realigning and reconverging the city with its prior landscape and landmarks. The precinct includes a strong, pedestrian-focused network of city streets, laneways and the 20-metre-wide pedestrian boulevard bisecting the ground plane, with the public square as the focal point.

Darling Square embodies a new urban typology, fusing landscape, architecture, art, food and culture. It is home to 4,200 residents, 2,500 workers, and more than 60 retail and food stores, attracting visitors and locals alike.

The square was designed as smaller, discrete but still connected spaces that were flexible enough for event and community use, whilst maintaining human-scaled for day-to-day use. The spaces within the square are broadly similar in scale and comprised of

The Exchange is a seven-storeys modern retail complex with multiple functions: three storeys as retail and high-end restaurants, two will be leased by Commonwealth Bank of Australia as its child care centre, and two of which will be Sydney Library. As part of the design competition, Lendlease asked the respondents to consider how to integrate community and public uses for the building. ASPECT Studios’ proposed that the form of the building be altered to a circular ‘building in the round’. A building with no front or back door that allowed the public domain to continue freely underneath. This proposal formed the basis of the subsequent brief for the Darling Exchange, designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates.

Inspired by the landscape of Sydney’s leafy green suburbs, Kengo Kuma blended the energy of nature with The Exchange building sitting as a punctuation point. The organic, spiraling facade, wrapped in 20kilometers of timber extends into the public domain both materially and functionally. The public domain integrates effortlessly with The Exchange, forming the centerpiece for the precinct, as a community building in the round and a destination in its own right.

The Square a hard paved, flexible open space suitable for evening and weekend temporary market and event overlays. In order to create a true square, delineation was provided on all four sides so as to define space and hold the edges.

89 2020

The Canopy Edge & The Boulevard ASPECT Studios designed an intervention of a new canopy – a verandah – to occupy the western edge. The canopy creates a critical visual termination to the square, whilst also providing an opportunity for shade, shelter and amenity. The canopy provides a visual link and connection from building to square, reinforcing the generous blurring between the two. Besides the Canopy Edge is the Boulevard, an urban linear park with a rich palette of plants and generous seating and tables.

The Lawn & The Grove a local-scaled turf space that captures good solar access and has a strong spatial relationship with the Square. In daily use this is the community lawn – for picnics, eating lunch, walking the dog. The Grove provides critical shade in the hot summer months, whilst its deciduous canopy allows light to permeate to the ground through winter. Moveable furniture offers a space of inclusivity, a welcoming place for the community to gather and connect and converse.

Laneways: Steam Mill Lane and Little Hay Street ASPECT Studios collaborated with Lendlease and Leon Paroissien to develop a brief and lead the process for the public art/lighting for the lanes. Artist Peta Kruger’s proposal was selected for Steam Mill Lane and artist Brendan Van Hek’s proposal selected for Little Hay Street – two bustling, distinct laneways that draw people to the heart of Darling Square. The lighting design creates a joyous public ceiling to the lanes. They contribute to the activation and human-scale of the place, and assist with wayfinding and night-time activation.

Darling Square offers green spaces for all, as an ever-changing civic space where daily life and spectacle collide. The contextual design from the landscape of custom grown Eucalyptus trees and endemic gardens offers a thriving and inviting multi-use urban space for all ages, treasured by residents, workers and visitors. The public domain design response was in alignment with the wider site master planning, for three new residential developments, two new student accommodation buildings and a new commercial building, each with active, retail oriented, ground planes.

The construction of the house is created based on the pure expression of materials, in all its variants: concrete, brick, wood and veneer. This allows a set of colors and textures to take place on the scene. The architectural design of the House, it's umbrellas, openings, the bond between walls, allow the materialization of light, making of its geometrical games or diffuse light, a living House, which mutates, changes and turns expressing and reflecting what happens on the outside at various times of the day. We also worked with the water as matter that reflects sky, cooling and accompanying the tour's entry to the House.

b+c HOUSE

Barella Arquitectura

Light as protagonist. The house is located in a parcel in the middle of a block of 30 x 50 m. with moderate slope that descends to the street. The place is at the foot of Córdoba´s hills, in the city of Villa Allende. The House is born and takes its level on the back of the field, allowing it to raise and create a 'balcony' for the contemplation of the landscape; which is characteristic and a typical view of Córdoba. Its dialogue with nature is very strong, because the spirit of the place is linked to nature.

The House is implanted in the ground according to the topography and existing trees. The facade, with a concrete plan that is being cut, officiates of screen of the native vegetation: the Espinillos, sculptured trees that generate a filter between the street and the architecture. The House is raised, fleet, doesn´t touch the floor. That empty space is the connection between the ground and the construction. The architecture is a creator of vacuum, courtyards and places of family gathering that get discovered when the place is toured and inhabited.

93 2020

We worked with a system of paths that generate different instances from the street to the house. Arrival place: highlights the natural, Espinillo area. Route: It is circulated through a ramp or stairs that have a strong bond with the trees. Finally, the entrance is given by a connector bridge, elevated over a pond, filter: pass the water, enter purified. All these elements form a private patio which have a strong link with the interior of the kitchen.

The concrete screen, materialized as the edge of the patio and exterior boundary of the kitchen, allows us to see the street, without being looked at, observed.

The bedrooms to the East have door windows and balconies, which focus and frame the Espinillos. There is nothing inside, there is nothing outside, what's inside is outside, Goethe.

We also worked with a very rational functional system, fundamentally taking into account the orientations. The social gathering spaces face the North, and interact with the central private patio, where family meet.

We work with a concept of "versatile house" which is very important for us: allowing us to make small gatherings, or ones with many people. This leads to a search in the design of “what's flexible”.

Therefore the house opens and closes, enlarges and shrinks according to the needs of the occasion. It has large doors windows that are inlaid on the walls. This allows you to connect, link the interior with the exterior and make them practically the same space, contained by the architecture.

THE INTERVENTION WAS CARRIED OUT IN A MODERN 112 M2 APARTMENT FROM THE 70S, LOCATED IN THE HISTORIC CENTER OF QUITO.

The project starts from an investigation carried out with the owners, from which several fundamental ideas emerged such as the importance of generating less deďŹ ned spaces, the central role of the social area, diffuse divisions between spaces and a strong presence of nature within the apartment.

The other starting point for the conceptualization of the project was given by the following existing elements and the experimentation with them: 1. Light: An existing air and light well. 2. Materiality: A concrete structure with a free height of 3 m. 3. Location: A very seductive historical urban landscape consisting of a view of an iconic place in the city, framed by facades of the republican area.

97 2020

Without walls, the columns of the concrete structure acquired a strong presence, inviting to work with this element as a basic unit of the project. In addition, this configuration of elements triggered a poetic dimension of the work, the columns ceased to be columns to started being called trunks. This metaphor of space defined the entire design and understanding of the project. The idea of not being in a domesticated space arose, inviting to enter a wilder world, "a forest".

If the columns were trees and the space a forest, only other trees could appear in this scenario, some fallen and others superimposed, as in nature. New elements of this same size were generated and a playful and experimental exercise begun until a series of relationships was created to solve the needs of habitability. By overlapping "the logs", new floor levels were created and an interior topography was produced.

These conditions together with the results of the investigation established the bases for the intervention.

Firstly, the interior walls were demolished and the entrance of air and light was amplified, allowing the introduction of a garden. The walls were replaced by windows with access to the courtyard, reconfiguring the space and transforming this non-place into a green space, delivering nature and light.

99 2020

These new elements were designed with three faces and an interior void, giving it the characteristics of a piece of furniture, turning it into a multifunctional piece, where a book, a piece of bread or a shoe could be placed. Metal was the most suitable material since it allowed a versatile use in the development of all the elements of the project.

The "Un Bosque" project is a world in constant discovery. The textures, levels and elements oating and crossing the space invite us to reinvent the forms of use and the appropriation of the space.

Another intervention strategy was to clean the place of any elements that sought to hide the nature of the material, producing new and unique textures. The brutality of the materials in an unďŹ nished state generates the feeling of a modern ruin.

HE MULTIPROGRAM SHIP WAS BUILT AS A LOGISTIC CHAIN OF EVENTS WHERE CONSTRUCTION PHASES WERE INCLUDED AS A PART OF THEM. EVENTUALLY, AFTER YEARS OF FRICTIONS, TRANSACTIONS, AND INTERACTION, PROGRESSIVELY AND INCREMENTALLY TRANSFORMED INTO A COMPLEX SOCIAL, PERFORMATIVE, AND ENVIRONMENTAL APPARATUS. THE BUILDING IS A SPATIAL APPARATUS THAT EXPLORES CULTURAL OCCUPATION CREATING TACTICAL REGENERATIONS AND MOBILITY STRATEGIES IAN T’S AN ALTERNATIVE CONDITION OF TEMPORALITY TO ACTIVATE HYBRID PUBLIC SPACES IN THESE COMPLEX GEOMORPHOLOGICAL SLUMS.

THE PROJECT TAKES PART IN A SERIES OF INTERVENTIONS OF COOPERATIVE URBAN REENGINEERING, FOCUSING ON CONSOLIDATING A NETWORK OF SPORT, CULTURAL SPACES AS NEW PRODUCTIVE AND FORMATIVE URBAN MODELS FOR THE INFORMAL GROWTH AREAS OF CARACAS. BASED ON MICROSURGERY OPERATIONS UPON THE ORGANIC TISSUE. The Building is an empowerment machine full of social effervescence. It provides flexible platforms to enhance everyday life within forms of collectivity. It is an ensemble artifact that controls automatic procedures but at the same time allows the community to produce subjectivity and randomness. The project looks into urban cooperative reengineering across initiatives that aim to intervene more in time than in space. 103

2020

The process develops a series of hybrid, flexible, and incremental civic artifacts that promote cultural activities to regenerate the existing ecosystem. The projects operate on degraded context redefining urban sprawl. A series of social, technological, and environmental strategies propose new forms of urban life in order to revitalize community networks and alternative circular economies through citizen participation, public consultation, knowledge democratization, and symbolic capital. The implementation is also a way to rethink the local democracy connecting peoples to each other in an emerging network governability.

The projects integrate applied science and local traditions as a sustainable approach to human, environmental, and material resources. It examines collective landscapes, post-industrial ecologies, and network governability politics developing community projects in an intersection between design, arts, and engineering. The intervention has fulfilled to dilute the boundaries between an urban 70's government housing plan and an informal growing phenomenon articulating collective activities that benefit the citizens of both urban conditions. The building acts as a knowledge factory improving new social dynamics, supporting the appropriation of the urban soil through pedagogic activities and multiple and simultaneous programs. Every building is a manifesto, a statement.

STEEPNESS of the VOID APARTMENT This is a typical type of apartment in Saigon that was divided into small and separate rooms by walls. The client wants to renovate into an open space, rustic and close to nature for her, her son and a maid. As a nostalgia for the origin - a family of Northern descent to the South.

Two large reinforced concrete shear walls - the main structure of the building, divide the oor into three spaces - two sleeping spaces on the sides and the living/ dining/ kitchen space in the middle, where is towards a large balcony.

107 2020

All three spaces have large glass facades, provide light and airow deeper inside. The partition walls and concealed gypsum board ceiling were removed to return the feeling of clear space.

The large balcony becomes a small garden - the center of the apartment. To keep the mother and son in contact with the trees and each other, two large openings were opened on the walls between the sleeping spaces and the garden.

109 2020

Walls, floor and ceiling has been finished by paint and terrazzo in white. In that space, we built a set of inclined structures with different steepness’s and dimensions.

Depending on the angle and distance with walls, each inclined structure will create a flexible space with specific functions.

The combination of inclined structure in white background space creates a rich environment of experiences when interacting with human activities. Arousing memories of the verandas, alleys, bamboo fences they were once familiar with.

The mother can leisurely sit and read books under the veranda, while her son "roams" in the garden, around the alley, or climbs up to the small attic - experiences seemingly absent in the hustle and bustle of life in Saigon.
