City stars Kattameya is a unique mixed-use development in one
of the most prestigious districts located at the heart of New Cairo. The site, which overlooks the Ring Road, is easily accessible from downtown Cairo, Cairo International Airport, and Giza Pyramids. It is on the route leading to imporant destinations to the east of Cairo, including the Suez Canal and Al-Ain Al-Sokhna.
Over a land area of 245,000 m2, the mixed-use development includes the following components:

Each residential building consists of a ground floor and eight upper floors. While upper floors are exclusivelydesignated for apartments, the ground floor of each building contains entrances, lounges, meeting rooms, a businesscenter, administration area, restaurant, bar, and retail area.
The project also comprises recreational areas, which include a 2-level clubhouse that contains a gym, bar, and many facilities with a total built- up area of 368 m2. Recreational areas also include a community park on a land area of 1,690 m2. ECG’s scope covers schematic design, detailed design, and quantity surveying.

ECG was the designated Architect of Record for the
St. Regis Hotel. ECG’s role also included supervising the construction of the exclusive development. The 180,000 m2 hospitality and hotel-serviced residential complex debuted the global St. Regis brand in Africa and encompasses two towers and a retail atrium with sweeping views of the River Nile. Towering 38 stories high, St. Regis Hotel hosts 300 furnished rooms, 210 hotel-serviced apartments, and 32 residential apartments and penthouses.

The project site is bounded by the Cargo City to the east; Terminal Building 2 & Terminal Building 3 Access Road to the west; Terminal Building 2 Access Road and a multistory car park to the north; and airside taxiway “Oscar” to the south. With a built-up area of 228,000 m2, the project involved extensive renovations to the existing terminal, as well as a major upgrade and extension of airside and landside pavements, with a pavement area exceeding 300,000 m2. Sized in line with Level of Service B of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the terminal building has a design peak hour capacity of 3,150 international passengers (two ways). The program involved a range of construction activities as follows: airside external works; Landside external works; asphalt roads; and a parking lot extending over a total area of approximately 16,000 m2.

The Construction of CFC Mall expansion, consists of two story building that includes approximately 100 shops that varies between retail, food and beverages and anchor units in addition to the 2 entertainment centers with all the services needed with 2 level basements providing car parking facility connected directly to the mall with BUA=84,629 m2
MIVIDA BOULEVARD PROJECT
The Mivida Project is located in New Cairo, Egypt. Boulevard Parcel 39, Parcel 40 and Parcel 41 is part of the Master Scheme – an 890-acre community that includes residential, commercial and leisure facilities. The scope of works comprises the construction of Boulevard Parcel 39, Parcel 40 and Parcel 41.
City Centre Almaza (CCA), one of the biggest retail malls in Egypt has received LEED-Gold certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) exceeded the contract requirement for a LEED-Silver rating and accomplished the higher certification level of LEED-Gold (the second highest ranking of the program). LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is recognized as the standard measure of sustainability in buildings.
CCC completed the construction and LEED certification process of CCA project, for the developer Majid Al-Futtaim (MAF), the projects is located in Heliopolis, East Cairo, this major retail and entertainment centre covers an area of 120,000 m2. The mall was successfully completed on time and was opened to the public at the end of September 2019. CCA accomplished the LEED-Gold rating for its green building features that positively impact the project itself, the environment and the broader community. High standards in energy savings, water efficiency and CO2 emissions reduction were adopted. For example, the mall features the exclusive use of LED lighting, bicycle storage facilities and changing rooms for its full-time occupants as well as preferred parking spots for fuel-efficient vehicles.
Through the use of sustainable strategies, the project achieved: - 14.6% energy savings with the use of energy efficient equipment and renewable energy. - 89% waste recycling via a detailed waste management program. - 47% reduction of water-use through low flow fixtures and wastewater management. - 4.7% offset of total energy consumed by utilizing renewable energy generated on-site. - Procuring and using environmentally preferable materials: 30.9% of the total building materials were manufactured using recycled materials and 48.5% were sourced locally. City Centre Almaza is one of the only two LEED-Gold certified shopping centres in Egypt. CCC’s project team providing construction and environmental management expertise ensured that the project achieved the prestigious Green Building certification. The LEED-Gold seal awarded to City Centre Almaza, is the latest addition to CCC’s list of Green Building projects including the Abu Dhabi International Airport Midfield Terminal Building, two Doha Metro stations and the Palestinian Museum. CCC’s extensive knowledge and experience in sustainable practices is helping to shape the Green construction industry in the MENA region.

The project represents a major turning point in construction field in Egypt that for the first time an Egyptian JV of the Arab Contractors Company and Orascom Construction implemented a huge metro project that was exclusive for the foreign companies. Eng. Sayed Farook declared that the implementation of such mega projects raises the reputation of the Egyptian contracting companies abroad and providing the possibility to compete in the implementation of similar projects abroad.

HICCUP STATION Cairo Metro Line 3 – Phase 4 consists of 6 elevated stations and the track is 7.8km. The stations are as follows: El Nozha – Hesham Barakat – Qubaa – Omar ibn El Khattab – El Haykesteb – Adly Mansour interchange station and the major overhaul workshop and depot built upon 65 feddans and includes 31 concrete and steel buildings for the gross and light overhauling, in addition to other services buildings. Therefore, it is considered the biggest workshop in Africa.
The Arab Contractors Company implemented several bridges which represent the governmental plan launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to develop Greater Cairo hubs, especially the districts of East Cairo, Nasr City and Heliopolis. The projects’ objectives are to facilitate the traffic movement and accommodate the traffic density. For example, the Middle Ring Road which is 5km length and it is aiming at the development within the industrial residential interval range. It is width varied from 56m to 82m. Moreover, AC executed Borg El Arab Silos Complex which is one of the biggest wheat silos in Egypt with a storage capacity 90000tons, and total value 110.680 million EGP for local component and 7 million US$ for foreign component.
Within the framework of the Egyptian Government interest with the humanitarian heritage, Arab Contractors Company carried out the restoration of Eliyahu Hanavi Synagogue in Alexandria. It sends a message to the world that the Egyptian Government is concerned about its heritage throughout the historical periods.
ADLY MANSOUR STATION Besides, the restoration works of the historical Baron Empain Palace in East Cairo. It is one of the most magnificent architectural masterpieces in Egypt. The total area of the building is 4000m2. Its garden includes statues implemented by famous European sculptors inspired by European legends, such as the statues of David the Victorious, Narcisse, Amalthia and others. The restoration works preserved the authenticity standards by using the original drawings of Eng. Alexander Marcel.

This prize was Cherif’s first contact with product design or just design, in the greater sense of the word. It was also his opportunity to “do something else”, to explore, to seek other meanings to his imagination. It literally started his career as a designer, not just an architect or just an interior designer or a graphic designer. He just became a designer. He is a staunch believer all fields of design are intricately connected and a “designer”, if he/she is considering taking his/her career as a life vocation as opposed to an occupation, should be able to surf between any given field of design, each with its challenges and complexities. However, Cherif confirms it is a feat that cannot be achieved without a rigorous work methodology mixed with an imagination open to acceptance and change. A designer should quickly realize all kinds of design strengthen each other considerably bringing new approaches and solutions one to the other, the cornerstone of a fruitful dialogue. Cherif is currently one of a handful of designers from the Middle East to have designed products & furniture for some of the most respected international design powerhouses and brands such as Sawaya & Moroni (sawayamoroni.com, Italy), Covo (covo.it, Italy), Droog Design (droogdesign.nl, The Netherlands) etc.
When reflecting on his career spanning more than 20 years, he believes it is this specific link, bringing together many aspects of various industries to try and offer authentic alternatives, that can be reflected upon to track his design language so far.

The Wing Sofa
Shosha Kamal Has Won The International Product Design Awards For The Year 2016, London, UK For Her Wing Sofa Design. The pharaonic inspired sofa is officially named by the prestigious jury panel as the best sofa design worldwide for the year 2016. Inspired by the goddess Nekhbet wings, the Wing Sofa is the first attempt to resurrect the Ancient Egyptian Design Style, creating the first of its kind, contemporary Pharaonic furniture line.
When The Sun Talks
The shades are designed to tell a story in Hieroglyphs on the floor of museums when the sun hits the table. The design philosophy is to let the sun with all its glory speak for the site. Shosha told us about her cooperation with the Ministry of Antiquities and UNESCO for this unique tourism experience, added that ”When the Sun Talks” is a project that is found in all UNESCO ancient Egyptian World Heritage Sites.
