ON TWO LEGS

As the third largest state veterinary medical association in the US, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA) provides numerous tangible benefits to its members including quality continuing education, professional publications, information resources, and discounts on personal and professional services, programs, and products—but some of the most valuable benefits derived from membership in the FVMA are the intangible ones! The FVMA provides a powerful voice for the veterinary community, and works to affect policies, regulations and legislation in order to protect the veterinary medical profession, veterinarians’ livelihood and the well-being of clients.

WE ARE NOT ONLY HUMBLED BY THE DEVOTION OUR MEMBERS HAVE FOR ANIMALS,

we’re fueled by it.

It isn’t just the FVMA adapting and innovating to serve our members better. The FAEP, our equine-exclusive branch, is taking the plunge with us.

We’ve also rebranded our affiliates, to recognize how essential every member of the veterinary team is to our association’s future.

dedicated to leadership This year, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA) is launching the Power of Ten, a leadership program focused on developing the potential of young veterinary professionals in Florida, heightening their profile in the FVMA and organized veterinary medicine in general. The Power of Ten is designed to help recent graduates, from zero to 10 years after graduation, develop foundational skills in leadership, communication and business.

OUR GOAL Through the Power of Ten, the FVMA’s goal is to assist our young professionals to: • Develop fundamental understanding of leadership skills and emotional intelligence • Deepen comprehension of communication styles and skills • Acquire critical skills to intensify business acumen • Gain the competency to utilize these skills within their life, practice, and community • Heighten awareness of themselves and better understand how to maximize interactions with those around them • Develop a vision of the leader they can be – and what it takes to become that leader • Experience a supportive environment that fosters meaningful interpersonal relationships and collaborative, lifelong interaction
