How to create a QUICKTIME MOVIE with FCP 7 for PRO TOOLS at calarts 1.

Select sequence in the Browser and open it in the Timeline.

File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion

After choosing QuickTime Conversion, the Save window will appear. Name your file and select a folder to save it.

Click Options.

Movie Settings window opens up. Check Video only. Uncheck Sound and Prepare for Internet Streaming. These settings may be changed based upon your needs.

The Standard Video Compression Settings window will show up. Select the settings illustrated above.

Click OK.

Back on the Movie Settings, you will see what you have chosen for the settings on the right side of the window.

Click Size.

For Export Size Settings, select the appropriate dimensions for your project’s settings.* In example, for a 4:3 DV project choose NTSC 720 x 480 4:3. Click OK.

*If you need a different dimensions than is listed, select Custom and type in the size that you need.

Movie Settings will appear again. Check what you have chosen. Click OK and save.

12.

The saved file should show up as a preview thumbnail or as a QuickTime Icon.

The options that are choosen here can be altered for your convenience. The process that is illustrated here is for CalArts. If you plan to work on equipment outside the Institute, you should follow the procedure that those facilities require. QT_ProTools
