Built in 1968, Gordon’s Conference & Catering was the NCO Club/Open Mess on Fort Gordon. Recently renovated, Gordon’s Conference & Catering comfortably accommodates up to 550 people in their spacious ball rooms. This program provides specialized training and support to the Soldiers and Family members during war and peacetime. It also provides guidance, resources and training for Family Readiness Group members and Rear Detachment Officers. Services are targeted to address pre-deployment, deployments, re-deployments or reunions, as well as establishing and re-energizing Family Readiness Groups (FRGs). Lending Closet ACS’s Lending Closet loans basic household items for 30-day period to military personnel and their Families as they relocate into or out of the Fort Gordon area. The Lending Closet is located in Darling Hall, Room 172. Welcome CDs Service Members who are relocating to Fort Gordon may request a welcome CD online or by phone. The CD includes a myriad of information about Fort Gordon and the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). ACS also provides welcome packet information including area maps, installation fact sheets, the Fort Gordon Guide, and other materials of interest to newly arriving personnel. Packets can be obtained at the newcomers’ orientation, requested by phone or through our web site. AER is a non-profit private organization established to provide emergency financial assistance to active duty and retired soldiers by providing interest-free loans or grants. Financially distressed spouses and orphans of deceased military personnel may also apply in emergency situations. Dependent spouses and children of active, retired, or deceased personnel may apply for educational scholarships disbursed through AER. The Fort Gordon AER office also serves as a liaison with Navy/Marine Corps Relief, Air Force Aid Society, and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance for service members assigned or traveling through this area. Consumer Information ACS maintains an extensive selection of financial education materials as well as pamphlets, booklets, and information fact sheets on a variety of consumer issues. Personal Financial Management Classes ACS provides regular classes on personal financial management including budgeting basics and schedules classes by unit request on car buying, basic investments, and use of credit. Special classes on consumer topics such as identity theft, predatory lending, and frauds/scams are also available. ACS Emergency Food Program When other emergency financial assistance is not practical or available, a food voucher may be provided on a one-time basis for military Families experiencing emergencies or unexpected financial difficulties. This assistance is intended to provide groceries for three to four days only.

The center offers dumpster and recyclable pickup service for many on post buildings. There are two drop-off locations on Fort Gordon for recycling. The first location is convenient for Fort Gordon residents at Wainwright Circle off of Kilbourne Street. The second drop-off location is located at Tenth Street and Chamberlain. Household recycling items are accepted at either location for all “off-post” residents as well. Materials accepted are cardboard, paper, plastics (1 and 2), aluminum cans at the drop off locations. However, scrap metal, toner cartridges and pallets are accepted at the Recycling Center.

WAQ mitigates the negative impact of high risk behaviors common among Soldiers who have recently returned from deployments. The high adventure activity is tied to resilience training which enhances unit readiness by building unit cohesion.

TASC has an interior of red tidewater cypress wood, including two tree trunks serving as girders, and features a fireplace in the lodge area and a deck area made of fieldstone. It also has an arms room where all firearms to be checked out are securely stored. Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation offers an array of services such as hunting and fishing licenses, outdoor equipment rental, bicycles, fishing boats, archery equipment and firearms for target practice. TASC is a fantastic meeting place for camaraderie among sportsmen.

The original 18 holes were designed and built in 1976 by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the world renowned golf course architect. The North nine holes were designed by Ault and Clark Associates and opened for play in 2002. The Golf Club is a championship, 27-hole layout that has hosted the All Armed Forces Championship and the All Army Golf Trials. All courses play to a demanding par 72, with yardage varying from 5,600 to 7,100 yards. Six holes are played around a 20-acre lake, with a Robert Trent Jones Jr. signature island hole. The course features 81 bunkers and cutouts inside many Georgia pines and other native trees. The club offers instruction for beginners as well as advanced golfers. The Sports, Fitness and Aquatics Branch is geared to provide a variety of Unit Level programs for all active duty military personnel. It also provides Battalion Level programs in accordance with the Army Sports Program. In addition to the Intramural Programs, there are Basketball and Softball programs that are offered to retirees, dependents, civilian employees and contractors of Fort Gordon. Individual and Post/Community Sports, (Varsity Level), sponsored by the Fort Gordon Community Recreation Division include: Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Rugby and Soccer. Fitness is geared to fun runs/walks; aerobics training classes, nautilus training, free weight and strength training for all authorized personnel of Fort Gordon. The spray park has about 20 features, some above ground, some are embedded. The above ground features include three aquatic animals, a helicopter, tumble buckets, and a toddler slide. Between the big pool and the spray park is a bellshaped kiddie pool. Both pools have a beach front entry that is wonderful for small children. For the adults and older children we have a 3 story slide that has 3 sharp turns before depositing the rider into a 3.5’ splash zone. Also, two one meter diving boards are to the far left of the pool.
