The Army has established partnerships with several large corporations that have agreed to provide employment to Army spouses. The mission of the ERP is to provide Family members with information and assistance regarding employment and educational opportunities. ERP services include an on-line vacancy board of off-post job opportunities, individual counseling, resume workshops, employment-related workshops and activities, and referrals of vacancies through e-mail.

The purpose of the Christmas House Project is to ensure a traditional holiday celebration for those military Families unable to provide their own. Active duty and retired military Families may apply. This assistance is provided in the form of food and toys.

This program provides specialized training and support to the Soldiers and Family members during war and peacetime. It also provides guidance, resources and training for Family Readiness Group members and Rear Detachment Officers. Services are targeted to address pre-deployment, deployments, re-deployments or reunions, as well as establishing and re-energizing Family Readiness Groups (FRGs). Army Reserve and National Guard units are given assistance and support when mobilizing and demobilizing. Operation READY materials and other resources are widely utilized.

Welcome Center In room 172, Darling Hall, ACS operates a welcome desk where customers have complimentary computer stations, maps, general post information and other relocation assistance is available.

Lending Closet Army Community Service’s (ACS) Lending Closet loans basic household items for 30-day period to military personnel and their Families as they relocate into or out of the Fort Gordon area. The Lending Closet is located in Darling Hall, Room 172.

Welcome CDs Soldiers who are relocating to Fort Gordon may request a welcome CD online or by phone. The CD includes a myriad of information about Fort Gordon and the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). ACS also provides welcome packet information including area maps, installation fact sheets, the Fort Gordon Guide, and other materials of interest to newly arriving personnel. Packets can be obtained at the newcomers’ orientation, requested by phone or through our web site.

Destination Information Information on other military installations is available on-line at Military Home Front. Come by our office to pick up a copy of the booklet for your next assignment.

The Soldier and Family Assistance Center provides a supportive environment for personnel assigned to the Warriors in Transition (WTB) Battalion and their Family Members as they deal with the stress and uncertainty of injury and the effects of war. The SFAC integrates support services and acts as an information clearing house, making a variety of services convenient and easy to find. The SFAC services are now available to all non-WTB Soldiers in the Integrated Disability Evaluation System.

Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) serves the Survivors of our fallen Soldiers. Services include support groups, financial classes, and benefit and entitlement assistance. Quarterly Survivor Forums are held to strengthen the Casualty Assistance process. SOS assures Survivors a connection to the Army Family as long as they desire.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT Army Emergency Relief (AER).......................................................................................................................

AER is a non-profit private organization established to provide emergency financial assistance to active duty and retired soldiers by providing interestfree loans or grants. Financially distressed spouses and orphans of deceased military personnel may also apply in emergency situations. Dependent spouses and children of active, retired, or deceased personnel may apply for educational scholarships disbursed through AER. The Fort Gordon AER office also serves as a liaison with Navy/Marine Corps Relief, Air Force Aid Society, and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance for service members assigned or traveling through this area.

Consumer Information ACS maintains an extensive selection of financial education materials as well as pamphlets, booklets, and information fact sheets on a variety of consumer issues.

Personal Financial Management Classes ACS provides regular classes on personal financial management including budgeting basics and schedules classes by unit request on car buying, basic investments, and use of credit. Special classes on consumer topics such as identity theft, predatory lending, and frauds/scams are also available.

ACS Emergency Food Program When other emergency financial assistance is not practical or available, a food voucher may be provided on a one-time basis for military Families experiencing emergencies or unexpected financial difficulties. This assistance is intended to provide groceries for three to four days only.

Anyone interested in volunteering in support of programs or services on or off of the installation is encouraged to register with the Army Volunteer Corps Coordinator. Soldiers’ community service is documented for the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (MOVSM).

RECYCLING 706-791-7881 Bldg. 997, Chamberlain Ave. Office Hours: Mon.-Fri., 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Drop-Off Center open 24 hours a day The Recycling Center’s mission is to divert material from the landfill by recycling as much as possible. The center offers dumpster and recyclable pickup service for many on post buildings. There are two drop-off locations on Fort Gordon for recycling. The first location is convenient for Fort Gordon residents at Wainwright Circle off of Kilbourne Street. The second drop-off location is located at Tenth Street and Chamberlain. Household recycling items are accepted at either location for all “off-post” residents as well. Materials accepted are cardboard, paper, plastics (1 and 2), aluminum cans at the drop off locations. However, scrap metal and pallets are accepted at the Recycling Center.

Child, Youth & School Services (CYSS) is a network of systems and programs through which Fort Gordon provides quality child and youth development options. These programs reduce the conflict between parental responsibilities and unit mission requirements, support readiness, and contribute to the quality of family life. Children wishing to participate in any of the CYSS programs must register in the central registration system. Registration is FREE for all CYSS patrons. TASC has an interior of red tidewater cypress wood, including two tree trunks serving as girders, and features a fireplace in the lodge area and a deck area made of fieldstone. It also has an arms room where all firearms to be checked out are securely stored. Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation offers an array of services such as hunting and fishing licenses, outdoor equipment rental, bicycles, fishing boats, archery equipment and firearms for target practice. TASC is a fantastic meeting place for camaraderie among sportsmen.

Lessons are offered for beginners to advanced riders. Hay rides, pony rides and organized trail rides for groups are also conducted. Included in Hilltop’s annual calendar are summer and holiday youth horse camps, lake side trail rides, horseback adventures and education sessions and Fort Gordon’s Saddle Club. The new conference area is perfect for organizational days, off-site meetings and more! Hilltop Riding Stable offers recreational activities, business opportunities, private functions, birthday parties and a destination for leisurely family pursuits.

The original 18 holes were designed and built in 1976 by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the world renowned golf course architect. The North nine holes were designed by Ault and Clark Associates and opened for play in 2002. The Golf Club is a championship, 27-hole layout that has hosted the All Armed Forces Championship and the All Army Golf Trials. All courses play to a demanding par 72, with yardage varying from 5,600 to 7,100 yards. Six holes are played around a 20-acre lake, with a Robert Trent Jones Jr. signature island hole. The course features 81 bunkers and cutouts inside many Georgia pines and other native trees. The course offers a practice range, practice putting and chipping greens. Also available are rental clubs, pull carts, lockers, electric carts and a well-stocked pro shop. The club has an active tournament program, handicap services, Bogey’s Grill restaurant and offers instruction for beginners as well as advanced golfers. The golf course has the UPLINK GPS System. Gordon Lakes is located on Range Road south of the main post.

The Sports and Fitness Branch is geared to provide a variety of Unit Level programs for all active duty military personnel. The Sports and Fitness Branch also provides Battalion Level programs in accordance with the Army Sports Program. The Courtyard Outdoor Pool and Spray Park has been completely renovated. The spray park has about 20 features, some above ground, some are embedded. The above ground features include three aquatic animals, a helicopter, tumble buckets, and a toddler slide. Between the big pool and the spray park is a bell-shaped kiddie pool. Both pools have a beach front entry that is wonderful for small children. For the adults and older children we have a 3 story slide that has 3 sharp turns before depositing the rider into a 3.5’ splash zone. Also, two one meter diving boards are to the far left of the pool. We also have two tents (one misting) for parties and shade, a covered patio for eating and a 3-tiered deck for sun bathing.

FITNESS CENTERS All of our fitness centers include locker rooms with changing areas, showers and lockers to store items on a monthly and daily basis. At Fitness Center #3, the basketball/volleyball floor has been converted to house equipment to conduct Functional Fitness and Combative Instruction.
