Este 2011 ha sido un año de grandes proyectos para H10 Hotels. Después de la apertura del H10 Berlin Ku’damm el pasado mes de marzo, hemos incorporado tres establecimientos a nuestra cadena. En junio adquirimos el H10 Lido, en la extraordinaria playa de Camp de Mar (Mallorca), y en julio incorporamos el H10 Casanova, nuestro séptimo hotel en Barcelona. Por otro lado, a partir de octubre contamos con el primer hotel en Cuba, el H10 Habana Panorama, ubicado en la zona de Miramar, donde se concentran la mayoría de embajadas, ﬁrmas comerciales y centros de negocios de la capital cubana.

This 2011 has been a year with large projects for H10 Hotels. After the opening of H10 Berlin Ku’damm in March, we have added three hotels to our chain. In June we acquired the H10 Lido on the extraordinary Camp de Mar beach (Mallorca) and in July we added H10 Casanova, our 7th hotel in Barcelona. On the other hand, we are running our ﬁrst hotel in Cuba, the H10 Habana Panorama, located in the Miramar quarter, where most of the embassies, commercial companies and business centres of the Cuban capital town are located.

En este número de la revista, hacemos un viaje a Tenerife, una isla volcánica repleta de intereses culturales. Es un destino ideal tanto para disfrutar de unas vacaciones en familia como para admirar su privilegiada naturaleza o descubrir sus fabulosos vinos. En esta isla contamos con seis hoteles, dos de los cuales acaban de ser extensamente renovados y presentan nueva imagen y nuevos servicios: el H10 Conquistador y el H10 Big Sur, este último reconvertido a hotel boutique. Les presentamos todas las novedades de estos dos establecimientos en las páginas interiores de la revista.

In this issue of the magazine, we make a trip to Tenerife, a volcanic island with plenty cultural interesting points. This is the ideal destination both for holidays with the family as for admiring its privileged nature or discovering its fabulous wines. We operate six hotels on this island, two of which have been recently widely remodelled and show now a new look and new services: the H10 Conquistador and the H10 Big Sur, the latter one reconverted in a boutique-hotel. We present all the novelties of these two hotels in the pages of this issue.

2011 war ein Jahr mit vielen neuen Projekten für H10 Hotels. Nach der Eröffnung des HBK im März, haben wir unsere Kette um drei zusätzliche Hotels erweitert. Im Juni haben wir das H10 Lido am wunderbaren Strand Camp de Mar (Mallorca) übernommen, und im Juli haben wir das H10 Casanova, unser 7. Hotel in Barcelona, hinzugefügt. Außerdem haben wir unser erstes Hotel auf Kuba eröffnet, das H10 Habana Panorama; es steht im Viertel von Miramar, wo sich auch die meisten Botschaften der kubanischen Hauptstadt, sowie der Sitz der wichtigsten Unternehmen und viele Business Center befinden. In dieser Ausgabe unseres Magazins laden wir zu einer Reise nach Teneriffa ein, der vulkanischen Insel mit dem reichen kulturellen Angebot. Die Insel ist das ideale Ziel sowohl für Familienurlaub als auch um die vielfältige Natur zu erleben oder die fabelhaften Weine zu genießen. Wir betreiben sechs Hotels auf der Insel, von denen zwei vor kurzem vollständig renoviert wurden und die nun ein neues Image und viel Service bieten: das H10 Conquistador und das H10 Big Sur, letzteres al Boutique-Hotel. Wir präsentieren Ihnen alle Neuheiten dieser zwei Hotels im Inneren dieser Ausgabe. Wir wünschen Ihnen einen angenehmen Aufenthalt.

I AM WENLOCK! Out of the last drop of the steel used to build the Olympic Stadium in London, Wenlock, the ofﬁcial mascot of the Games, was created. Its name has not been found by chance; it is inspired by the town of Much Wenlock, in Shropshire, which was once the setting for the Wenlock Games, one of the sources of inspiration for Pierre de Coubertin when creating the modern Olympic movement. Its physiognomy is full of winks, such as the light on its head in the manner of London´s cabs, or the shape of its forehead, based on the shape of the Olympic Stadium roof.

El menú no está a la vista y se pregunta: ¿Cuál será la especialidad? ¿Estará bien de precio? ¿Admitirán reserva? Saca el móvil, apunta a la fachada del local con la cámara, y en la pantalla aparecerá una etiqueta sobreimpresionada con la información que buscaba. Es la realidad aumentada, una tecnología existente desde hace años, pero que ahora ha descubierto su ﬁlón de rentabilidad y utilidad con el auge de la telefonía 3G y los smartphones. La realidad aumentada consiste en superponer contenido (texto, vídeos, animaciones en 3D...) directamente sobre el mundo real. “Se utiliza el GPS del móvil para determinar la localización de la persona y la brújula para saber hacia dónde está enfocando. Esto permite desplegar en la pantalla puntos de interés encima de la imagen real: restaurantes, cajeros, monumentos”, explica Antonio Fraga, de Signo, empresa gallega que diseña aplicaciones de realidad aumentada. Imagine that you are walking the streets of a European town and come across a restaurant that catches your attention. The menu is not visible outside the premises, and you wonder: What could the specialty of this restaurant be? Will the prices be OK? Does the restaurant accept bookings? Take out your mobile phone, direct it at the restaurant and just on top of the façade, on your screen, a tag will offer you the written information you were looking for. It is all about augmented reality, a technology that has already existed for a few years, but has now discovered its potential for proﬁts and utility with the raise of 3G telephony and smartphones. Augmented reality consists in directly overlaying content (text, videos, 3D animations…) over the real world. “The GPS of the mobile phone is used to determine the location of the user and there is a compass for determining the direction in which the the user is looking. This makes it possible to deploy points of interest on the screen above the real image:

Its marine ground keeps large treasures and there are many opportunities for diving, but in Adeje one may practice ﬂy over, a new experience combining immersion with the opportunity to have a close look at marine fauna. In the recently established Marine Micro Reserve “El Puertito de Adeje”, divers (no experience or title are required) will ﬂy under the water between corals, tortoises and seahorses, accompanied by a Sustainable Ocean instructor, for their enjoyment while carrying out preservation and research activities.

DIE GEBALLTE GRÖSSE DES OZEANS Teneriffa besitzt mehr als 70 Km Küste für jeden Geschmack, vom schwarzen Strand bis zu solchen mit goldenem Sand, atemberaubende Klippen oder natürliche Schwimmbecken. Der Meeresgrund bewahrt große Schätze, und es gibt viele Orte, um zu tauchen; aber in Adeje kann der Gast auch das „fly over“ geniessen, ein neues Erlebnis, das Tauchen mit der Gelegenheit, die Meeresfauna zu bestaunen, kombiniert. SELVAS DE LA PREHISTORIA Así debían ser los bosques hace millones de años. La laurisilva, o bosques de laurel, son una reliquia de las selvas prehistóricas que se mantienen de manera privilegiada en el parque de Anaga, al este de la isla (aquí se puede seguir el nuevo Sendero de los Sentidos), en el macizo de Teno, justo en la punta más occidental, en Agua García (Tacoronte) y en la ladera de Tigaiga (Los Realejos). Es una oportunidad única de adentrarse en un ecosistema mágico (solo quedan en Canarias, las Azores y Madeira), que beben de la lluvia horizontal y los bondadosos vientos alisios, manteniendo un verdor perenne en sus árboles, helechos, musgos, líquenes... y un misterio increíble.

PREHISTORICAL JUNGLES Forests were like this millions of years ago. The laurissilva, or laurel forests, are a relic of prehistoric jungles and the subject of a privileged maintenance within the Anaga Park, on the Eastern side of the islands (where visitors can follow the new Path of the Senses), in the Teno Massiv, on the most western spot, at Agua García (Tacoronte) and on the slopes of Tigaiga (Los Realejos). This is a unique opportunity to enter a magic ecosystem (they only survive on the Canary Islands, the Azores Islands and Madeira) that is fed by the horizontal rain and the benign Trade Winds, maintaining its perennial green on its trees, ferns, moss, lichens…and an incredible mystery.

Incredible as it may seem, Tenerife has ﬁves wines with Protected Geographical Status. To gain insight into the enology of Tenerife, it is worth visiting the Museo La Baranda (The House of Wines), which is a former seventeenth-century agricultural estate. It hosts the Insular Museum of Vine, the Museum of Honey and a permanent show Tenerife: Island of Agro-diversity. In its tasting room, guests may taste the island´s wines, like the famous “Malvasía”, and buy wines at its shop, which offers red wines, white wines, rosés, sweet wine and sparkling wines. The museum organizes tasting courses, tasting sessions, concerts, shows and gastronomic days to pair these wines with the most creative or traditional cuisine, such as the “papas arrugadas” (wrinkled potatoes), octopus with green pepper, the “ropa vieja” (literally, “Old Clothes”, a shredded ﬂank steak in a tomato sauce base)…Later, one may follow the Wine Route of Tenerife (www.rutasyvinos.com)

Su base es mamífera, con altas ingestas de proteínas y vegetales. Los hidratos de carbono y las grasas quedan proscritos por no formar parte de la “dieta natural” del ser humano. Es efectiva, porque la pérdida se consolida de forma progresiva, y buena para la tonicidad muscular: la proteína combate la ﬂacidez. CONTRAS. Deja al organismo sin carbohidratos procedentes de alimentos tan saludables como la fruta y la verdura. El cuerpo entra así en un proceso de cetosis: consigue la energía de la propia grasa en lugar de obtenerla de los hidratos, generando toxinas que se eliminan por el riñón, lo que podría ser perjudicial. Al prohibir la grasa y el azúcar, suele ocasionar ansiedad hacia este tipo de alimentos. No se puede mantener en el tiempo y puede tener un efecto rebote debido a “atracones” posteriores de dulces y grasas.

Se trata de volver a la normalidad sin engordar. Los alimentos prohibidos reaparecen en el plato de forma progresiva, como los hidratos de carbono y la grasa, y tendrás dos comidas de capricho a la semana. ¡Por ﬁn podrás tomar pasta, pan o legumbres! Esta fase debe durar 10 días por cada kilo perdido. Por ejemplo, si has perdido 5 kilos, la fase de consolidación debe durar 50 días. Además, el doctor Dukan recomienda hacer el “jueves proteico”: un día a la semana en el que solo podrás consumir proteínas. 4. Estabilización. En teoría, ya puedes comer libremente, aunque tendrás que cumplir con tres reglas básicas a largo plazo: tomar cada día 3 cucharadas de salvado de avena, respetar el jueves de proteínas y practicar ejercicio moderado de forma habitual. “Se trata de una estabilización basada en las proteínas y el salvado de avena, ambos muy saciantes. Sin embargo, lo mejor para el organismo es aprender a comer, llevar una alimentación equilibrada y practicar ejercicio todos los días”, concluye Isabel Beltrán.

Nun können Sie endlich wieder Pasta, Brot und Hülsenfrüchte geniessen! Diese Phase soll pro verlorenem Kilogramm 10 Tage andauern. Wenn Sie zum Beispiel 5 Kilogramm abgenommen haben, dauert die Phase der Konsolidierung 50 Tage. Dazu empfiehlt Doktor Dukan immer den „ProteinDonnerstag“ einzuschieben: An einem Tag jeder Woche sollten Sie nur Proteine zu sich nehmen. 4. Stabilisierung. Rein theoretisch können Sie nun frei alles essen, was Ihr Herz begehrt, immer wenn Sie auf lange Sicht folgende drei Hauptregeln einhalten: jeden Tag drei Löffel Haferkleie zu sich nehmen, den „Protein-Donnerstag“ respektieren und immer moderat etwas Sport betreiben. „Diese Stabilisierung basiert auf den Proteinen und der Haferkleie; beide sind sehr sättigend. Aber das Beste ist, dass unser Organismus lernt, sich richtig zu ernähren, gute ausgewogene Essgewohnheiten annimmt, außerdem sollte man jeden Tag etwas Sport treiben“, schließt Isabel Beltrán ihr Urteil ab.
