The REAL cost of cheap food
HOME When buying a new home, many possibilities are out there, you just have to be willing to look. From installing solar panels, to building a water tank, the possibilities are endless... and it will cost you nothing. You may be asking, why sustainable living? Well it comes down to 3 things, Efficiency, Sustainability, and Health.
Having a sustainable home does not mean living in a green cave with no elecricity. It means you maintain an amount of power saving that is realistic.
To make your home sustainable, recycling is the easiest way. In your local supermarket there will be recycle bins. If you are really lucky you can get ones that are funky colors and shapes :).
A great source of healthy protein is a fillet of salmon, it can be cooked many ways e.g. steaming and baking and can be prepared in different styles of cooking. Is a great way to get your kids eating more meat.
A small serving of freshly steamed organic carrots and beans is a great alternative to 3 big chunks of brocolli.
A cup of brown rice is a great substitute for white rice, providing more nutrients and flavour. For a more filling choice, toss in some fried onion or garlic.
Do you know where your food comes from? Think about it, for all you know, your vegetables could be covered in bird dropping and your meat could have been raised in a shed full of snakes. Find out where your food comes from. Organic fod is always the best option. Although it may be a few dollars more, you hospital bills will benefit extremely.
HEALTH
Why No Pesticides? You may think that by buying fruit and vegetables that aren’t organic, that you are saving lots of money. But actually eating foods conatining pesticides are very harmful to children, filling there bodies with toxins. This beats down the immune system growth and nervous system. So, this would acctualy cost you more money, from all the hospital bills. Health experts believe that pesticides are harmful to children because... - They have a smaller body size. - They eat more fruit. - They have a less developed system of detoxification -The developing bodies are more vulnerable to toxins. If organic food are particualy hard to find in your area, there are other options. Look for oil based pesticides washes in your local cleaning shop, or if you can’t find them, just peal your fruit! Although this will not completely erase the pesticides, it will reduce the amount.

At the moment, innitiatives are being taken by people all over the world to commit to climate change. One of the largest steps being taken is installing solar panelling on the roofs of houses. Now solar panels are not the cheapest way to save energy but are one of the best and suprisingly, simpilest when set up correctly. A great allternative to covering your whole house in solar panels is renting a solar panel fitted apartment (as shown above). These are great for many reasons such as, you can leave whenever you want without having to worry about selling solar panels :), and being able to have help nearby 24/7 incase of panel failure. -The suns rays are always there. - The energy collected in the day will be enough to power your house at night.
