G4S All Stars Richard Grasso Provides Coverage Around the Clock NEW YORK - It’s not always a physical threat, such as an intruder or robber, that G4S Security Officers need to be prepared for, but also natural threats. During a fire at a client location in New York, G4S’ Richard Grasso was there to immediately help the client, like he had done before. Richard helped the client during the fire, ensuring that their property was safe and secure, and that no one was harmed by the fire. But this isn’t the first time that Richard has been there to help. During the winter, a snowstorm made it dangerous for employees to make it into work. But with Richard on duty, they didn’t have to be concerned as he was there to provide any assistance necessary, while still ensuring he achieved his post orders. G4S Security Officer Richard Grasso

Thank you and great work to Richard for not only keeping our client’s location secure, but helping out when called upon!

Justin Baggs Supports Community as Volunteer Fire Fighter MAINE -- Many G4S Security Officers work tirelessly to support their communities. In Maine, G4S Regulated Security Officer Justin Baggs is also a member of the local fire department, and in March responded to a tragic fire. An apartment building caught on fire, bringing 50-75 firefighters to the scene. Justin, along with the rest of the team, were able to get the residents out to safety. Justin was part of a four-man crew who helped to get firefighters from the burning building. They used ladders to reach the firefighters, and despite dealing with heavy fire and the danger of collapse, constructed a bridge with additional ladders to support the rescue operation.

G4S RSS Security Officer Justin Baggs

Great work by Justin and all of the brave firefighters who worked to ensure the safety of the community. Thank you for your service!

John Wilson Proves The Value of Teamwork CALIFORNIA - To be an effective security officer, it is more than being able to stop a robbery or assist in a medical emergency. You need to be knowledgeable of your surroundings and help fellow members of the team. G4S’ John Wilson does just that. John is a great asset to the security team, and as a field trainer, excels at passing down his knowledge to the new team members. With a positive attitude, John is always on time and will go wherever the team needs him to provide consistent security coverage. Thanks to John’s efforts, he has helped mitigate potential risks while on duty, allowing our clients and their customers to feel safe and secure without any interruptions. G4S BPO John Wilson

Thanks for all your hard work, John, and for being a dedicated member of the team!

G4S Employee Benefits

May Employee Benefits World No Tobacco Day

Smoking is one of the most harmful habits to someone’s health. More than 16 million Americans are living with a disease caused by smoking. Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). While smoking is extremely harmful, 1.3 million smokers quit every year, and since 1965, more than 40 percent of all adults who have ever smoked have quit. May 31 is World No Tobacco Day, which means that if you or someone you know is looking to quit smoking, now is a great time. If you are enrolled in a G4S Blue Cross Blue Shield Medical plan, there are additional resources to help you quit tobacco at no cost to you. G4S offers the Quit For Life Program as part of your Blue Cross plan. The program, created by the American Cancer Society and Optum, is the nation’s leading tobacco cessation program. All participants receive up to five outbound coaching calls and unlimited toll-free access to a Quit Coach for the duration of the program. When you enroll, you receive eight weeks of the nicotine patch or gum for free, along with a printed workbook and access to Web Coach, an online community comprised of e-learning tools, social support and information about quitting. G4S Safety Moments

May Safety Moments Ways to Improve Mental Health

Mental health is a crucial aspect to everyone’s overall health and well-being. There is a huge emphasis on physical health in our society today, but there is not as much of a focus on mental health. Although taking care of our body physically contributes to our mental health in multiple ways, it is important to remember that mental health is an important entity in itself. Being proactive about our physical health is just one way that we can better our mental health, but there are other small changes that we can make each day to improve our mental state. Some of these small changes include, finding sources of humor, animal companionship and finding a healthy work life balance. Finding humor throughout daily tasks is important for everyone, but can specifically help individuals dealing with mental illness. Finding healing in humor can contribute to better interactions with others, a stronger immune system and can even decrease burnout levels on the job. Another practical way to contribute to our mental health is through animal companionship. Owning a pet has proven to improve cardiovascular health, decrease stress and lower blood pressure amongst other physical benefits. In terms of mental health, owning a pet decreases loneliness which contributes to lowering the risk of developing chronic illnesses. All of these factors play a role in developing and contributing to mental health issues, and by having animal companionship these risks are combated in an effective way. Animal companionship can even be helpful in the business world, as pet-friendly workplaces have been proven to increase productivity among workers and attract more candidates. In addition to these things, finding a balance between work and play is essential to a healthy mental state. One small way to create a better work and life balance could be to work remotely one day per week, if your schedule and job allow this. By taking a work-life balance seriously, the risk of depression, especially in men is lowered. All of these small changes can be implemented into our lives and play positively into our mental health state. Through implementing these changes, we contribute to small successes that ultimately lead to huge life changes for our physical and mental health. Creating a tangible connection between mind and body impacts us in ways that we do not realize. Moving forward, we must remember that our mental health is just as important as our physical health.

G4S Employee Matters

Employee Matters Mental Health Awareness

May is nationally recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month, but G4S is committed to ensuring the well-being of our employees each and every day. The ability to create and foster a supportive and encouraging workplace environment begins by raising Mental Health Awareness through knowledge, communication and resources. One in five adults are diagnosed with a mental disorder each year, but only one in four will disclose a condition to their employer. The negative stigma surrounding mental health issues often causes individuals to feel ashamed and embarrassed, and fearful of adverse action by their employer. Maintain a healthy workplace environment by engaging with employees on a regular basis through conversations, appraisals and meetings where employees can openly express themselves. If you recognize that someone may be struggling emotionally, the first step is to show compassion and extend a willingness to find the appropriate resources for help.

Employee Engagement: Growth and Encouragement The Psychological Contract strengthens the relationship between an employer and its personnel with an emphasis on the beliefs and expectations of employees. This philosophy is characterized by respect, compassion, trust, empathy, fairness and objectivity to identify intentions, goals, and commitments. Expectations for the Employee: • Effort and Performance: Working both quantitatively and qualitatively for the best interests of the Company • Flexibility: Adaptation to changing dynamics, roles, and responsibilities • Loyalty and Integrity: Respect and professional representation of the Company • Ethical Conduct: Adhering to Company policies and procedures, as well as all applicable laws to ensure Company compliance Expectations for the Employer: • Job Content and Environment: Providing meaningful and challenging responsibilities in a supportive and cooperative work environment • Career Development: Engaging in regular appraisals to identify and encourage promotional opportunities • Financial Compensation: Payment of fair and favorable wages that accurately reflect roles, responsibilities and abilities • Work-Life Balance: Respect and understanding of personal circumstances, needs and desires; implementation of Employee Assistance Programs Through its successful execution, the Psychological Contract helps employers avoid mis-perceptions of their actions, and employees experience professional growth through self-actualization. The outcome of the Psychological Contract is a rewarding balance of both employer and employee values and needs.
