A message from Peter Panaritis: Our first half of the year was filled with many exciting developments. At our January Leadership Conference, we discussed best practices on customer engagement and how to get better in touch with their needs. It was also an opportunity for me to hear some of your ideas on how we can continue creating value for our customers. Collaborating with our partners at the RCMP, AMAG, Secure ISS, and the Secure Integration Team, we forged innovative pathways to further establish ourselves in the market as Trusted Advisors.

Peter Panaritis

Chief Executive Officer and President, G4S Secure Solutions

We also hosted the Summit Awards, recognizing the achievements of our colleagues from across the country. Congratulations to each of the award winners. In April, we hosted the CTIO conference with the RCMP. The core theme of this conference was counter-terrorism security. It was attended by G4S personnel as well as some of our customers. The CTIO was so engaging that I was at the edge of my seat for all 3 days. We had a great turnout and also received excellent feedback from our attendees who were each certified as Counter-Terrorism Information Officers at the event’s conclusion. Reflecting on these accomplishments, I would like to thank each of you for your participation and enthusiasm in delivering service excellence to our customers. Finally, as we enter into the summer season and enjoy quality time outside with family and friends, I encourage each of you to keep safety in mind. Some of the most common injuries during the warmer months include sunburn, heatstroke, and distracted driving. Whether you’re enjoying our great Canadian outdoors or vacationing abroad, be sure to stay hydrated, wear proper sun protection, and look out for any road hazards. Never drink and drive. I look forward to the months ahead as we continue working together to achieve our goals. I will see you in my travels!

From helping a mother in labour to averting an attempted suicide, winners show presence of mind, swift action, courage and heroism while on the job. This year, we honor the following G4S Canada security professionals from the Toronto and Windsor branches:

The team tended to his injury and CPR chest compression was administered to the victim until EMS arrived. .......................................................................................................... The security officers brought the tenant to the lobby and stayed with the victim while waiting for the Community Safety Unit (CSU), Toronto Community Housing and the local police. ........................................................................................................... Andre Jagon (Toronto): While working at a high profile Toronto Community Housing location, Andre Jagon received a radio call regarding a female that was in distress inside a unit. Andre discovered the female to be forcibly confined within that unit. Andre determined that the safety of the female was a priority and forced the door open leading to the arrest of the tenant who had been previously charged with the same offence. If it were not for Andre’s quick thinking and decision making, the outcome could have been very different. ........................................................................................................... G4S Partners with RCMP to deliver terrorism training for customers and employees. In April 3-5, G4S Canada partnered with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), to present a three-day Counter Terrorism Information Officer workshop. Over 150 G4S employees and customers participated in the workshop hosted at the City of Mississauga Library.

Designed by the Public Engagement Unit of the RCMP, the program aims to harmonize the work of the Canadian law enforcement community in identifying, preventing, responding to and investigating criminal activities related to terrorism and national security threats. Participants received terrorism awareness training and information & intelligence from experienced members working within the National Security environment. Sessions explored recognizing terrorism event pre-incident indicators, cyber terrorism, the dark web and the use of the internet, suspicious incident reporting and an overview of the national

security environment. All of the sessions emphasized the role private security employees can play in countering terrorism and the importance of “See something? Hear something? Say something.” If you ever encounter something suspicious while on post, report it immediately. We play a critical role in securing public spaces and at times, have better line of sight than police.

“See something? Hear something? Say something.” On the final day, G4S conducted an open panel featuring customers and partners from various verticals and closed the workshop with a question and answer period. When asked about the session and what it meant for G4S and their customers, G4S Canada CEO, Peter Panartis, said, “We’ve seen changes prompting us as an organization to work with our customers differently - understanding their business goals and environments and building partnerships as a trusted advisor to reduce risk and minimize threats to their operation”. Panaritis continued to say, “This workshop was eye opening for all of us to learn about, and identify the potential for terrorism here in Canada. The workshop reminded me of why we do what we do. I will be tasking our trainers to work with law-enforcement so that we can bring similar training to our frontline employees. ” G4S places an emphasis on training and the professional development of our people. Sessions such as the CTIO are particularly important in promoting education and collaboration within security. Partnership between federal law-enforcement, private security providers, and industry professionals is critical to securing communities in Canada.

My G4S Story: From Loss Prevention Officer to Business Development Manager

Sarah Ingram shares what she has learned over a 12 year career with G4S I graduated from Westervelt College with an honours diploma in Police Foundations, and began my career with G4S in 2007 on the front lines, as a Loss Prevention Officer. In 2010, I received the G4S Customer Service Award and then again in 2014. In 2016, I was awarded the National Sales Award, and attended the North American Gold Club Awards for exceeding growth targets. Over the years I have participated in numerous sales, operations and leadership seminars and courses, further developing my professional skills and expanding my overall knowledge of the business. With more than 10 years of experience in the industry my areas of expertise range from customer service and operational support for rapidly-growing accounts within a diverse client base to driving growth and revenue within the business through sales. G4S has provided me the opportunity to become a tactical planner with a strong understanding and partnership with all business components within the organization. Prior to my current role as a Business Development Manager, I worked on our Customers Solutions teams as a National Account Manager with G4S Canada. I was responsible for upholding best practices and ensuring governance models were adhered to across North America. I worked closely with both National and Global Account Managers in the US and Canada to maintain consistency and the highest level of service delivery. My focus was on developing and growing client relationships within a variety of verticals including logistics, corporate properties, special events, investigations and retail. Throughout my career with G4S I have broadened my scope of expertise to also include labour dispute planning and management, developing and implementing Security Guard Procedures customized to the needs of individual clients and providing critical support during high risk security details. I am honored and privileged to have spent so many years working with and for an organization that truly believes in their people and sees the potential of not only what they currently are, but what they are capable of bringing to the table in the future. Continue to move forward, persevere and keep your eye on the prize. Start off each day being proud of the day before, ask your Supervisor or Manager what else you can do, learn, live the G4S values and be a positive example for your teammates.

Keeping safe this summer The summer season is upon us, and that means stifling outdoor temperatures and a dangerous increase in heat-related workplace safety hazards. We’ve all experienced it at some point when working or playing hard – fatigue sets in, your mouth feels dry and your legs are heavy and maybe you even get a headache. These are all common signs of dehydration. When you are working hard, body fluid is lost through sweat. If the fluid lost through sweat is not replaced, dehydration and early fatigue are unavoidable. Losing even 2% of body fluids (less than 3.5 pounds in a 180-pound person) can impair performance by increasing fatigue and affecting cognitive skills. However, dehydration can easily be prevented: When to drink: Ensure you drink before you start working. Trying to catch-up for lost fluids after a period of time is very difficult. In other words, drink before you get thirsty. By the time you’re thirsty you are already dehydrated, so it’s important to drink at regular intervals – especially when it is hot outside.

What to drink: Water is truly one of the best things to drink. Research also shows that a lightly flavored beverage with a small amount of sodium encourages people to drink enough to stay hydrated. The combination of flavor and electrolytes in a sports drink like Gatorade provides one of the best choices to help you stay properly hydrated if you are sweating profusely.

Water is truly one of the best things to drink.

What not to drink: During active periods, avoid drinks with high sugar content such as soda and fruit juices. These are slow to absorb into the body. Also alcohol and caffeinated beverages should be avoided. Many people are unsure of how much fluid to drink. This truly depends on your activity level and how much your body is losing fluids. In general, when you are working and sweating, you should drink at least every half-hour. Ensure you are drinking enough to replace your lost fluids. Heat illness is a serious but easily preventable health risk. By following these basic rules, we can all enjoy a safe and healthy summer. Remember, safety starts with me, at home, at work, and at play.

Safety Starts with Me

More technology is coming to our offices! An update from G4S Product Manager, Scott Sutton

At G4S, safety isn’t just a word - it’s recognizing a need and taking action. Recently, we took a look at the security at our various offices and found some interesting things. Every day we speak to our clients about security measures and when we looked at our own facilities, we recognized we still have room to “walk the talk”. We began examining our offices, with the Training Centre at Dixie Road in Mississauga, Ontario being first. We started with a security risk assessment, and truth be told, we found some gaps most of which are likely common to most offices. To help fix these gaps, expect to see changes coming to our offices across the country in the coming months. We’re working with AMAG Technology, A G4S Company, and our Secure Integration team at G4S Canada to make our offices more secure. By integrating security technology in our offices, some include; Remote video monitoring (AMAG Completeview) • Access Control (AMAG Symmetry) • Bluetooth Readers (AMAG Symmetry Blue) We’re at an exciting stage where innovation in security technology is changing faster than ever before. And at G4S we’re not just speaking to our clients about it, we’re making changes. Stay tuned for when these changes take place at an office near you. In the meantime, if there’s technology that you’ve seen that seems fresh and new, please send an email to Scott Sutton, G4S Product Manager and Chair of our Innovation Committee at scott.sutton@ca.g4s.com. We’re looking for new ideas and look forward to hearing from you!

Every Flight Safe, Every Time. A passion for Safety, Security, and Service Excellence at G4S’ Aviation Division At G4S Canada’s Aviation Division we have a motto - Every Flight Safe, Every Time. It serves as a reminder that we play a critical role in helping secure 21 airports across British Columbia and the Yukon. We display this motto on the lanyards around our necks, feature it in office presentations, and display it throughout G4S spaces in the region. We have a big responsibility; failing to properly screen a passenger or a piece of baggage can have devastating consequences for Canadian travelers, visitors and the safety of the public. The Aviation team and I don’t take this responsibility lightly, and that’s why we remind each other daily of our motto. We also take great pride in our results. So far this year the Aviation Division has screened 3,293,594 passengers and a total of 6,257,286 pieces of luggage. All were processed within 15 minutes or less without major incident.

Remco Loevendie

Chief Operating Officer G4S Canada Aviation Division

The driving value behind Every Flight Safe, Every Time is one that we all share at G4S, and that is a passion for Safety, Security, and Service Excellence. As members of the G4S family and security community we play a vital role in securing communities across Canada. It is also important for us not to forget the gravity of the work that we do. Whether you are working in an airport, at a residential building, retail store, or installing security camera, we all have the power to make a difference. As security professionals, and members of the G4S family, we are tasked with promoting community safety & security while striving for service excellence. I encourage everyone across the business to take a moment to recognize the difference you are making and to take pride in delivering Service Excellence to our customers, their customers and the general public.
