Fundraiser to Support G4S CPO Dennie Recovery Begins for Brave Reservist

On March 5, 2018, two men entered First Tennessee Bank in Memphis, Tenn. and chaos followed. G4S Custom Protection Officer Antonio Dennie, 29, was shot multiple times while on duty protecting the bank, its staff and customers. CPO Dennie was transported to a local trauma hospital for emergency surgery. Twenty-four hours later, Antonio was responsive and relayed the following: his military service prepared and enabled him to face this with courage. He has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home. Antonio joined G4S Secure Solutions (USA) in August 2017. Before joining G4S he served in Afghanistan as a member of the Army National Guard. During his service, Antonio was awarded the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Army Commendation Medal, as well as several other Service Medals and Ribbons. Antonio is the father of two young daughters and is engaged to his fiancée, Katikia. On March 22, Memphis General Manager Iain Penrose and Senior Vice President of the Southern Region, Chad Starwalt visited Antonio at his home in Memphis. Antonio is in very good spirits and is doing well in his recovery. At this point he is walking around and eating well. “I was amazed at how well he is dealing with this, both physically and emotionally,” said Chad. Iain also noted: “Antonio’s reliability and professionalism have always shown through his success working at multiple client locations. His fortitude and toughness have been on display as he recovers from this horrible incident.” Support and Recovery Begins The welfare of our employees is of paramount importance to G4S, and we aim to ensure that employees like Antonio are supported during difficult times. G4S’ Employee Relations and Human Resources teams have been providing support to Antonio and his family at this time. Antonio is also a candidate for the G4S Employee Trust Fund. Change of Plans

When a traumatic brain injury threatened to take away Randy Davis’ dream, he persevered, determined to make it a reality

E

ver since Randy Davis was a kid growing up near Fort A.P. Hill in Central Virginia in the 1970s, all he ever wanted to do was join the military. He bought camo clothes, boots and “Rambo” bandannas and liked watching Army helicopters flying around the horizon. In Davis’ mind, there was no doubt that when he became old enough he would join the military. “I had a passion for our country and patriotism,” says Davis, currently a Custom Protection Officer (CPO) for G4S in Colorado. “I grew up living, eating and breathing patriotism. The thought was you get to a certain age, you raise your right hand and you serve the country.” When Davis was in his teens, his parents split up and his father moved to San Diego. When Davis turned 16, he joined him. In San Diego, he lived just four blocks from the ocean yet didn’t know how to swim, let alone surf. The country kid was out of his element. Within a year, Davis had learned to swim and surf, but longed to be in the woods. One day in class, he overheard classmates say they were going target shooting outside the city. Davis hadn’t been in the woods since he moved, so he asked if he could tag along. Unbeknownst to him, he was the most experienced shooter, as the other boys were novices when it came to guns. As the sun set and they decided to call it a day, Davis wanted to experience the woods just a minute longer, breaking from the group. After having had his fill, Davis began his trek back to the group, but as he was walking back, one of the other boys fired three rounds into the night air. The first bullet struck Davis a Randy Davis on-site in Colorado quarter inch from his right eye; the second one grazed the left side of his head. Lying on the ground, Davis called for help, watching as blood spurted from his face. “The pain was excruciating. I was trying to comprehend in my own head that I was still alive. I tried to run back to the truck, but every time my feet hit the ground it was painful.” Davis was able to crawl back to the truck and was driven to the hospital where he underwent immediate surgery, not knowing if he was going to live or die.

6

“I had to say goodbye to my parents because the doctors didn’t know if I would survive the surgery. I had to face that reality. I had to come to terms that I might die.” The surgery was a success and Davis slowly recovered, graduating on time with the rest of his classmates. But when Davis walked into the Army recruiter’s office to fulfill his dream, he was struck by another blow. “They told me I couldn’t even be drafted. They pulled out a medical manual that said any contusion or laceration to the brain was an automatic disqualifier. When they told me that, that was the reality that this train is at the end of its tracks. I had to say, ‘What now? What am I going to do with my life now?’” Davis bounced around multiple jobs for several years before enrolling in a criminal justice program in Virginia, eventually landing a position as a Deputy Sheriff with the city of Richmond. “I had to accept the fact that I was never going to be in the military, so I turned my passion into law enforcement as a way of serving the country. It was very similar to the military.” Davis spent nine years in law enforcement, first in Richmond, then in Norfolk,Virginia, before ending his career in Boulder, Colorado. In 2005, 21 years since his brain injury, Davis decided to spark his military dream one last time. At age 37, nearly two decades since the military closed the door, the U.S. Army offered him a position in the Reserves. “I was ecstatic. It meant so much after being told 20 years before I couldn’t even be drafted. I had turned back the hands of time.” Davis spent eight years in the military as an Army Engineer, eventually deploying to Panama. And throughout his law enforcement and military careers, he’s managed to move past the brain injury that once seemed to derail everything. Now, Davis takes part in the Pikes Peak Challenge, a 13-mile hike to the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado at 14,115 feet, raising funds and bringing awareness to Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) and other brain injuries. Serving alongside fellow G4S CPOs, Davis and his team all share a similar military background and G4S has worked to accommodate his past. “I began my G4S career still serving as an Army Reservist, and G4S always honored my military commitment. Now G4S gives me the freedom and flexibility to be a Field Supervisor.” Now more than 30 years after the incident that threatened to take his dreams and his life, Davis doesn’t dwell on the injury. “I’ve worked hard to regain my life. I don’t think of myself as injured. It happened, but I don’t notice the deficits. It didn’t affect me at all while serving in the military. I’m lucky. Really lucky.”

G4S Safety

Providing Eye Safety Tips During Workplace Eye Wellness Month Every day, an estimated 2,000 workers suffer a serious eye injury and every year around 100,000 of these injuries will result in temporary or permanent vision loss. Despite these high numbers, experts say 90 percent of all workplace eye injuries can be prevented. During Workplace Eye Wellness Awareness Month, G4S’ safety team is providing information on preventing eye injuries, what you can do during an emergency, and the different types of eye injuries. Ways to Prevent Eye Injuries • Wear eye protection where it is required or if potential hazards may be present • Make sure eye protection fits properly and comfortably • If there is any damage to the eyewear, replace it immediately Types of Eye Injuries • Striking or scraping - majority of eye injuries result from small objects striking or scraping the eye • Penetration - objects like nails, wood or metal can go through the eyeball and result in permanent loss of vision • Chemical and thermal burns - chemicals, cleaning products or thermal burns can cause damage to the eye and surrounding tissue What should you do in an eye emergency For chemicals in the eye • Flush the eye with water for at least 15 minutes • If you have contact lenses, remove them before flushing the eye • Do not use other substances • Do not bandage the eye • Seek immediate medical attention after flushing For particles in the eye • Do not rub the eye • Try to let your tears wash the speck out or irrigate the eye with an artificial tear solution • Try lifting the upper eyelid outward and down over the lower eyelid to remove the particle • If the particle does not come out, keep the eye closed, bandage it lightly and seek medical care For blows to the eye • Gently apply a cold compress without putting pressure on the eye • In cases of severe pain or reduced vision, seek immediate medical care For cuts and punctures to the eye or eyelid • Do not wash out the eye • Do not try to remove an object that is stuck in the eye • Cover the eye with a rigid shield, like the bottom half of a paper cup • Seek immediate medical care To get additional safety information, contact your local office or send an email to safety@usa.g4s.com Feel free to contact the Employee Concerns Hotline (ECH) (800) 307-9005 if you have any concerns about dishonest, unethical or improper conduct. You will not be subject to discipline or retaliation for making a good faith report via the ECH.

Training and Development

Information on Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) from EMS Safety Services In January 2018, G4S partnered with EMS Safety Services (http:// www.emssafetyservices.com/) to continue to provide quality first aid, CPR and AED training to all G4S employees. EMS Safety Services is a nationally-recognized training company and has been the leader in developing cost-effective emergency care training programs for more than 20 years. This month, as part of Brain Injury Awareness Month, G4S is bringing you resources from EMS Safety Services regarding brain injuries and how you can help raise awareness. A Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is a result of a violent blow or jolt to the head or body, or if an object like a bullet or shattered piece of skull penetrates the brain tissue, and ranges from a mild concussion to a life-threatening injury. Regardless of how an individual suffers a TBI, the results are nonetheless life-altering. A TBI can lead to altered consciousness, such as a prolonged or permanent change in a person’s state of consciousness, physical complications such as seizures, headaches, infections or vertigo, intellectual problems like difficulty in remembering things, judgment, problem-solving or organization. People who suffer a brain injury may also experience changes behaviorally and emotionally. Preventing brain injuries can be tough, but there are steps you can take to help reduce the risk. • Seat belts and airbags - Always wear a seat belt when you’re in a car. • A small child should always be in the back seat and in a child safety seat or booster seat. • Alcohol and drug use - Don’t drive if you are under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or prescription medications. If you are somewhere and unable to drive, contact a friend or call a taxi or a ridesharing service like Uber or Lyft. • Helmets - Whether you’re playing contact sports like hockey or baseball, or riding your bike or a skateboard, always wear appropriate head protection. If you were to fall or get hit in the head, wearing a helmet will help provide additional protection to your head and brain. Every year an estimated 1.7 million TBIs occur, resulting in over 50,000 TBI-related deaths annually. The cost of TBI-related care is equally daunting, with an estimated annual cost in the U.S. at $56 billion. If you or a loved one has received a blow to the head or body that gives you reason to be concerned or causes behavioral changes, consult a doctor or seek emergency medical care. While there are different levels of potential brain injury, “mild,” “moderate” and “severe,” a mild brain injury can still be serious and requires immediate attention. If you have additional questions about our Corporate Training Center including how you can obtain certification, course completion cards, etc., please contact your local G4S office or G4S’ North America Training Institute via email: nati@ usa.g4s.com

The team quickly prevented their processing.

While the team did stop any employee paychecks from going to the wrong accounts, the team has suspended digitally signed direct deposit requests, meaning you have to have a physically signed direct deposit form. To request a direct deposit to be set up, you’ll need to contact your local office and they will provide you with a hard copy of the Direct Deposit Authorization form (pictured here). You will need to sign this physically as payroll will no longer accept digital signatures. The payroll team is working on an employee self-service portal that will allow you to eventually update your own direct deposit information online. In the meantime, if you notice a discrepancy with your paycheck, please notify your local office immediately. Tax Tip: Do you claim exempt or have 10 or more allowances on your tax forms? In order to remain exempt or keep your allowances, you need to fill out and submit a W4 form by March 31st to the payroll team. You can find W4 forms on the government website at: https:// www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf

As always, the payroll team is here to help you in any way possible. If you have any questions, please contact your local office for assistance, call HQ Payroll at (888) 597-5476, or email notify_payroll_dept@usa.g4s.com.
