A Message from the President Team, Regardless if you are driving to your post, on post or with your family to the movies, it is important that you take the necessary precautions to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you. This includes driving defensively, being aware of potential hazards and avoiding risks. Driving defensively is driving to prevent accidents, regardless of driving conditions or the actions of those around you.You must also be aware of any hazards, such as debris or the other drivers on the road as well as pedestrians or animals who could suddenly jump in front of your vehicle. It’s also important not to take any risks that may put yourself in harms away. Be careful when you are merging in traffic, obey the speed limit, avoid tailgating and follow the rules of the road. Please understand where and when you are driving and, most importantly, arrive at your final destination alive. The heart of our Safety Starts With Me campaign is to focus on the safety of our employees and ensure that you are safe both at work and at home. Please take a moment to review the Keys to Driving Safely training course through G4Su: https://g4s.exceedlms.com/student/enrollments/create_ enrollment_from_token/QAcEs5hc2XPyXKUa4eP8dnhZ. While we aim to ensure all of our employees get home safely at the end of the day, we also strive to highlight the great actions of both our security officers in the field and our offices. I take pride in being able to deliver a new Shout Out to our employees every week while also highlighting at least four G4S All Stars in every issue of G4S News. The fact that we are able to recognize so many G4S Security Officers is a testament to the great work that our team does every single day. Without fail, through all conditions and at all locations, G4S Security Officers across the region show up to work every day and provide the best security coverage possible. I know I’ve said this before, but I want to express my gratitude to all of our employees in the United States. Whether you are a G4S Security Officer, HR Manager, Training Specialist, General Manager or anywhere in-between, thank you for your dedication to the company and commitment to making us into the company we are today. Sincerely,
Drew Levine President, G4S Secure Solutions (USA)

Did You Know About? Security Risk IQ Website In September, G4S launched the Security Risk IQ website (www.securityriskiq.com), an online resource that features thought leadership articles about risk intelligence, trends and G4S Humanware. Articles on the website highlight the latest technologies and potential challenges that organizations are facing. From Artificial Intelligence and the role it plays in security, to the potential threat that drones pose or the value of a connected security officer, these thought leadership pieces focus on the trends in the security industry. The website also offers our free Security Risk IQ Survey. The survey takes about 20-30 minutes to complete and helps companies analyze the security risks that they may face. Security Risk IQ also introduces G4S Humanware, a principle that combines the world’s most trusted and tested guard force - G4S Security Officers - with the latest security hardware and software. This combination helps us provide our clients with the best possible security coverage and is tailored to their exact needs, and none of it is possible without G4S Security Officers leading the way. Be sure to check out the website now and see what Security Risk IQ has to offer: www.securityriskiq.com

G4S All Stars G4S CPO Helps Woman in Need FORT COLLINS, Colo. — No matter when you are patrolling, G4S Security Officers know that risk doesn’t clock out. When G4S Custom Protection Officer (CPO) Malachi Oswald was conducting a patrol at midnight, he saw two men attempt to force a woman into their car. When the woman was able to get out of the car, Oswald informed the men that he was calling the cops and was able to fend off an attack from one individual. As the men attempted to escape, Oswald was able to call the cops with a description of the men and the vehicle, leading to an arrest.
G4S CPO Malachi Oswald
Thank you to CPO Malachi Oswald for his commitment to securing the location and the individuals there.
G4S CPO Resuscitates Young Infant SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Standing post at a client’s location means not only protecting the facility, but also those who are there. When G4S Security Officer Isaac Saldana was on duty, a woman’s young child suddenly stopped breathing and turned blue. Officer Saldana immediately grabbed the child and began performing emergency procedure and dislodged a piece of food that blocked the child’s airway. When Officer Saldana was congratulated on his work, he simply said, “It was part of my job.” A special Shout Out to Officer Saldana on helping those in need.

G4S Security Officer Vivian Velasquez
L to R: G4S Security Officer David Wright, G4S Security Officer Steven Nichols Jr.
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — For G4S Security Officers, providing safety doesn’t always end when your shift does. When Vivian Velasquez was returning home from her shift, she encountered a traffic accident, with a mother sitting in the street and two of her children standing in the lanes unattended.Velasquez stopped and took the two children to a safe location and called 9-1-1 about the incident. Paramedics arrived and were able to get the children and their mother to safety.
ROANOKE,Va. — No matter the type of location, patrolling and being aware are vital to ensuring the safety of our clients and their sites. When Sgt. David Wright was on duty, he discovered a large boiler’s pressure gauge indicated low pressure and that the flame failure warning light was on. Sgt. Wright immediately notified the client about the situation. After meeting with the client, Sgt. Wright was told that his actions helped prevent a disruption in production.
Thank you to Vivian Velasquez for ensuring the safety of others even though she was not on duty.
Congratulations to Sgt.Wright for his awareness and helping the client avoid a potential incident.

G4S Safety Moments: Mental Health
Mental Health and Stress Management
Consequences of poor sleep and mental well-being In August, the G4S Safety team brought you tips on physical health, including ways you can stay active while at work. However, good physical health is only part of a healthy lifestyle. Equally important is good mental health and mental well-being. Mental well-being affects how we think, feel and act and helps us handle stress, make critical decisions and interact with others. Poor mental well-being can also increase your risk of cancer, heart disease and respiratory disease.Your physical health can be negatively affected as well. While being physically and socially active can improve your mental health, getting enough sleep can also help. One of the most important parts of a healthy lifestyle is getting enough sleep every night. Not only does sleep enhance your ability to concentrate or remember things, but it also helps reduce stress and anxiety and improve creativity and decision making. In relation to your mental health, getting enough sleep contributes to your emotional health, helping you against depression, anxiety disorders and bipolar disorders. While getting more sleep during the night is important, there are also healthy sleep habits that can improve your ability to fall asleep and stay asleep. These habits are a key part of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT can help you address issues that prevent you from sleeping well. Below are tips on improving your mental well-being, ways to help you sleep better and consequences of not getting enough sleep. Ways to Boost Mental Health • Keep a journal, and include things you are grateful for and accomplished every day • Work on your strengths to help build self confidence, then tackle tough tasks • Build and develop strong relationships with people close to you
Quick Sleep Tips • Keep a consistent sleep schedule • Establish a relaxing bedtime routine • Make your bedroom quiet, comfortable, cool and relaxing • Turn off electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bedtime • Don’t eat a large meal before bedtime. If you are hungry at night, eat a light, healthy snack • Reduce your fluid intake before bedtime
Consequences of Poor Sleep • Reaction time slows, impacting motor skills • Stress increases • Short-term and long-term health consequences • Creativity and decision making declines • Increase in mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety • Increase in weight gain
To get additional safety information, contact your local office or send an email to safety@usa.g4s.com.

The team has put together a training program that provides you ways to improve your mental well-being, boost your happiness and exercise your brain. Additionally, the program has information on how to sleep better and the causes, symptoms and treatment for sleep deprivation. Poor mental health and not getting enough sleep can lead to elevated levels of stress. The training path has information on how stress affects the body and ways for you to unwind and reduce stress. We encourage you to be proactive in managing your mental health, sleep and stress and have provided additional resources outside of the training path for you to familiarize yourself with.
