A Message from the President Team, Allow me to be the last person to wish you a Happy New Year! I hope that everyone was able to enjoy the holiday season with friends and family but is now ready to take on 2019. There are challenges and opportunities in the year ahead that I am excited to take on with our team at G4S. The New Year brings the opportunity to make New Year’s Resolutions. On Page 8 you will see our Safety Team’s resolutions for this year, but I want to take a moment to express one of my resolutions. During January, we were notified that a G4S employee had tragically taken their life. This news shocked and saddened me, and it pushed me to send a message to our team. My resolution is to ensure that our employees understand how much they mean to myself and the company as a whole and that their health is a driving concern of ours. Every life is valuable, and all of us at G4S are a family that should and does look out for one another. We care about the health and well-being of all of our employees and want to be sure that you all know we are here for you. To the right of this message are phone numbers and websites for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and the Employee Assistance Program. Each of these services is free and available 24/7/365. If you ever feel as if the walls are closing in, please do not hesitate to reach out. If you notice a loved one or co-worker is acting out of the ordinary or may need assistance of their own, I encourage you to lend an ear and encourage them to get the support they need. We care about your mental, physical and emotional well-being and want you to know that no matter what you are going through, you aren’t going through it alone. If there is ever anything that we can do for you, please let us know. Sincerely, Drew Levine

G4S All Stars Trio Provides Aid to Car Crash Victims

NEW MEXICO — It’s often about being in the right place at the right time to lend a hand. In New Mexico, overnight snow and poor weather conditions created dangerous driving conditions. As a result, three cars and a semi-truck were involved in an early morning car accident, leaving two cars flipped over the median and one car crushed. G4S Security Officers John Alvarado, Thres Salas and Shantel Coriz were all en route to their shift when they came upon the accident and instantly sprang into action. They began providing assistance to the victims of the accident and rendered first aid. Alvarado and Salas removed their winter jackets and used them to keep the injured individuals as warm as possible while Coriz retrieved a sleeping bag from her vehicle to provide warmth as well. The three individuals stayed on the scene until law enforcement and medical personnel arrived to provide further aid.

This incident exemplifies the personalities of our security officers and their willingness to help those in need. Great job by all three!

G4S Security Officer Helps Suicidal Individual

TOLEDO, Ohio — Vital to a G4S Security Officer’s role is the ability to recognize when something is out of the ordinary. In Toledo, G4S Security Officer Joshua Barton observed a man on video near a back trail on the edge of client property overlooking a river. Barton went to locate the man and when he found him, he asked him to come back on the pathway. The man told Barton that he didn’t want to live anymore and was planning on jumping in the river, even though he couldn’t swim. Barton radioed to the Command Center to call 9-1-1 while he spoke with the man, befriending him and convincing him to come back to the pathway. Local police arrived and took the man to a facility for medical assistance.

G4S Lieutenant Saves Man From Train

Security Officer Barton performed bravely and understood the signs of a potential suicide attempt. He worked to make the individual feel comfortable and helped him get the help he needed. Thank you Security Officer Barton for a job well done! OREGON,Wash. — G4S Security Officers are tasked with numerous responsibilities, from ensuring the safety of client property, to working to ensure no external threats bring harm to individuals onsite. For G4S Lt. Jeremiah Dills, that responsibility includes keeping individuals safe from themselves. Late at night, Lt. Dills noticed a distracted individual listening to music approach a client train track. With music playing over the man’s headphones, he didn’t realize that he had inadvertently walked directly into the path of an oncoming train. Dills immediately got to the man, pulling him back just in time before the train rolled by.

Had it not been for Lt. Dills, the night could have taken a horrific turn. Great job, Lt. Dills!

G4S Safety Moments

G4S Safety Moments Commit to a Safe 2019

The annual tradition at the beginning of every year for many is to make a New Year’s Resolution. Whether it be to focus on eating healthier, reducing stress, traveling more or saving money, the idea of a resolution is to improve your wellbeing, and this ties into our daily life at both home and work. The G4S Safety team is encouraging you to resolve to improve safety at your workplace, helping to ensure our well-being as well as the well-being of those around us. In an effort to make those resolutions, here are some suggestions: Participate in Safety and Encourage Others • Make suggestions on how we can improve safety within our organization. • Speak up if you see something that is not safe for you or your co-workers. • Ask questions; if you are unsure about a safety matter, ask. • If there is a safety committee at your location or project, get involved. Educate Yourself • Review safety policies or post orders. • If you have the Safety Handbook, keep it with you as a reference. • Complete any safety training for both G4S and our customer. Safety Equipment • Inspect your personal protective equipment. • Do you need to replace your high visibility vest, safety glasses or other PPE? • Are the boots/shoes you are wearing effective for your environment? Avoid Distractions • Focus on the task at hand. • Do not use a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle, or simply walking down the stairs. • Proper nutrition is essential to cognition; focus on foods that feed your mind and your body. There are many resolutions you can make for 2019, both at home and work, the key is to stay focused and not abandon them. To get additional safety information, contact your local office or send an email to safety@usa.g4s.com.
