A Message from the President Team, As I’m sure you are familiar, over the last number of months we have been going through the G4S Way of Operations, a process to realign our operational business structure to maximize efficiencies and drive productivity throughout the organization. Through the process, we have moved some of our office-level functions, like recruiting, and centralized them at our corporate headquarters in Jupiter, Florida, allowing our local teams to focus more closely on supporting our customers and our employees. There are multiple parts of the G4S Way of Operations, some of which are currently being rolled out in pilot offices across the region and others which will follow once those pieces have been implemented. When the G4S Way of Operations is complete, our local offices will be in a better position to address our client’s needs but also the unique needs of our employees across the region. Under the new process, managers will be better suited to focus on our front-line employees, helping them develop their careers and assisting with day-to-day job functions rather than dealing with back office issues. With this additional support, our goal is for our frontline employees to feel empowered and to continue to excel at their job. If you have any questions, I encourage you to discuss them with your local leadership team. We look forward to every step of the G4S Way of Operations and the success that will come from its full implementation. Sincerely, Drew Levine President G4S Secure Solutions (USA)

Did You Know About? Distracted Driving Facts

The National Safety Council reports that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year. • Nearly 330,000 injuries occur each year from accidents caused by texting while driving. • 1 out of every 4 car accidents in the United States is caused by texting and driving. • Texting while driving is 6 times more likely to cause an accident than driving drunk. • Answering a text takes away your attention for about five seconds. Traveling at 55 mph, that’s enough time to travel the length of a football field. • Texting while driving causes a 400% increase in time spent with eyes off the road. • Of all cell phone related tasks, texting is by far the most dangerous activity. • 94% of drivers support a ban on texting while driving. • 74% of drivers support a ban on hand-held cell phone use. • 11 teens die every day as a result of texting while driving, equal to 4,015 per year.* *To put the last statistic into perspective, according to the US Government, 3,432 Americans were killed in terrorist attacks between 1975 and 2015. G4S All Stars G4S USO Helps Lost Man Return Home

FAIRFAX, Va. — For G4S Security Officers, it isn’t just about protecting and securing our client’s property, but also helping those around us. G4S Lead Security Officer Cailin Green proves just that. A Geico employee alerted Cailin when he came into work that a man who appeared confused had followed him into the parking lot after he had spoken to him at a nearby gas station. When the man had entered Geico’s parking lot, he had hit the curb and suffered a flat tire. Cailin approached the man and learned that he was originally from Baltimore and after speaking with local law enforcement was notified that he was reported missing nine days earlier. When law enforcement arrived, they contacted the man’s family to respond and pick him up.

L to R: G4S Strategic Account Manager, Scott Fry; G4S Security Site Supervisor, Steve Sammut; USO Caitlin Green; GEICO Corporate Safety and Security National Director,Todd Vigneault.

Fantastic work by Cailin to ensure that the man was safe and reunited with his family!

G4S Supervisor Helps Suicidal Man Get Help He Deserves MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Caring for others and their well-being is an integral part of being a G4S Security Officer. G4S Shift Supervisor Meng Vang noticed a stray bicycle near a parking ramp. When he investigated, he found a young man attempting to jump from a high ramp. Meng began to talk to the youth and learned that his mother had died suddenly a few days before and that he was trying to commit suicide. Meng immediately called the police, but then began talking to the boy to calm him until emergency services arrived. A special thank you to Meng for his professionalism and compassionate response to the situation and ensuring that the boy was safe. G4S Shift Supervisor Meng Vang

G4S Security Officer Alerts Client Employee to Car Issue SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — G4S Security Officers may not be put into life-or-death scenarios every single day, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t opportunities for them to help out others on a daily basis. G4S Upscale Security Officer (USO) Jose Soto was on duty in California when he noticed that a car had left their lights on in the parking garage. Jose recognized the car and worked to locate the employee, who wasn’t at their desk. Jose continued to look for the car owner and he found him, and informed him of the situation. Great work by Jose to not only be aware enough to realize whose car had their lights on, but also for the persistence to seek out the individual until the matter was resolved. G4S Safety Moments

April Safety Moments Distracted Driving With our lives full of distractions and technologies that connect us wherever we go, our commute to and from work can seem like a good opportunity to catch up on phone calls, emails and texts. But if you are behind the wheel, your full attention should be on the road and other drivers. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reports that reaction time is delayed for a driver talking on a cell phone as much as it is for a driver who is legally drunk. When we think of drunk driving, most of us have incredibly strong opinions on how dangerous this is. The same attitude should be placed on distracted driving and using technology while driving. Car crashes are the number one cause of workplace deaths, with distracted driving as a leading factor in road fatalities. At least 26% of crashes involve drivers talking and texting on cell phones, according to estimates from The National Safety Council. Although the stress of daily life can seem overwhelming, it is never worth risking the danger that comes with distracted driving. Employers can take their employees safety into account by designating company vehicles as text free zones, and highlight the fact that it will never be necessary for employees to text or call while operating a vehicle. By ensuring employees of these facts, companies are putting themselves in a safer situation and avoiding liabilities. Even if our responsibilities are not the main distraction while driving, cell phones in general are a temptation. Social media, texting with friends and calling just to pass the time can seem innocent but are just as distracting as business calls. Even though the risks of distracted driving are clear, it can still be difficult to break this habit. Some tangible ways to avoid cell phone use while driving are: • Put your cell phone on silent before beginning the trip • Pre-set your navigation and music playlist and your place cell phone out of reach These small changes can help break the habit of distracted driving and cell phone use while driving. Knowing the risks of distracted driving, it is crucial that we all make an effort to reduce the absentminded tasks that can put us and others in danger on the road. By familiarizing ourselves with these habits, we are contributing to a less stressful work environment, a clearer mindset and overall safety precautions. To get additional safety information, contact your local office or send an email to safety@usa.g4s.com.

G4S Training and Development

Distracted Driving Focusing on the Road Saves Lives

Each day in the United States, approximately nine people are killed and more than 1,000 injured in crashes that are reported to involve a distracted driver. Distraced driving can be defined as driving while doing another activity that takes your attention away from driving. It’s more than just texting and driving, but also eating or talking on the phone. Distracted driving can increase the chance of a motor vehicle crash. In honor of April being Distracted Driving Awareness Month, the Training and Development team has created training material focused on helping you avoid distracted driving. The module is available through the link below. The training covers the risks of distracted driving, what exactly is distracted driving and the potential repercussions of texting and driving. Additionally, the team brings you distracted driving tips, life-saving tips and additional resources for you to familiarize yourself with the issue and ways that you can strive to drive safely. Visit G4Su through the link below to take the Distracted Driving Module: https://g4s.exceedlms.com/student/enrollments/create_enrollment_from_token/EN2owbaKEtuNpDksqE3Gaavt If you have additional questions about the North America Training Institute, including how you can obtain certifications, course completion cards, etc., please contact your local G4S office or G4S’ North America Training Institute via email at nati@usa.g4s.com.
