Gables Residential has a deep history of Taking Care. We take care of our residents, our assets, our investors, and our Third-Party clients. Our story is possible because of our people. Gables Residential is an award winning, vertically integrated, real estate company and privately held REIT specializing in the development, construction and ownership, acquisition, financing and management of multifamily and mixed-use communities. We own, develop and manage communities in high-growth U.S. markets such as Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Houston, North Florida, Phoenix, Seattle, South Florida, Southern California and metropolitan Washington D.C. Gables has been in business since 1982, and has evolved from an umbrella partnership REIT into a private company when ING Clarion, Lehman Brothers, and other investors agreed to buy the company for $2.8 billion in October 2005. In 2014, our close-ended fund that took the company private was coming to a close. Clarion Partners and a group of investors acquired Gables Residential in 2015 for $3.2 billion, and converted the company into a perpetual life vehicle.

Gables’ sustainability strategy is reflected in the daily practices of our entire company including the investment, operations and corporate services teams. Sustainability performance is tracked and reported quarterly to keep management informed and to influence future planning efforts. In 2016, Gables expanded the sustainability team to include a full-time Director of Sustainability. The goal for their role is sustainability efforts programing while driving green efforts across departments to establish and manage an impact in four key areas: • • • •

Our commitment to excellence in environmental operations and management of communities is founded in sustainable practices that were established as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) over 10 years ago. These practices focus in areas of responsibility including resource use, procurement decisions and waste management. The SOPs communicate the accountability structure and scope of these initiatives.
