Cris, When a milestone like this comes around we can’t help but reflect on the early days. While I did not know you personally, we do have the shared experience of both being on that winning volleyball team. I know you, like me, were young and hungry, and the last thing we wanted was to be “that person” that screwed it up for Ron’s winning team. You and I may not have known each other, but we were very much alike in our desire to succeed and make a difference in this world. Little did I know though that our paths would come back together and one day we would work side by side leaving our legacy at Gables together. I can’t think of anyone else I would rather have worked with every day to accomplish this than you. We are a great team and I have learned so much from you each year. Your kind heart but fearless determination is inspirational to me. You see things from a sharp, business savvy mind, but with the compassion of a true leader. Although difficult decisions still have to be made they come from a place of kindness and to me that makes us different than the rest of the world. As I have said before your creativity and vision have inspired me to think differently. You have opened my mind to new ways of thinking about what I do each day and therefore I have been able to open our team to new ways of looking at things as well. I could not do what I do each day without you and I know many others feel the same way. You are an inspiration to so many but particularly to other women who need to see strong, successful, compassionate women succeed in this industry. I am not sure if you realize the significance of the achievements you have reached and what an impact it will have on generations of women to come. Dale Carnegie has nothing on Cris Sullivan! Having the privilege to work with you for 24 years has influenced more of my professional and personal life than can be shared in a note. And not just because you cared enough to share “the book� with me, but because of how you modeled what it is to be a leader and good person. It would not be possible to list all the actual happenings, incidents, moments or conversations that have made their way into my life. I can however share that your impact on me as a woman, mother, leader, friend and mentor is immeasurably positive. You should know in your heart that who you are every day without even trying, imparts onto others, then in turn ripples to countless lives. Not to be dramatic, but you should know that you touch so many with such grace, power and meaning each day. Not many people can go to a job for 30 years and truly make a positive influence on so many, but you should know that you have !!! I’ve only been at Gables for a few months, but every interaction I have with Cris inspires me.
