Public Space | Converstion
Student Agora
As an underground car park had been opened near both the University of Bucharest and the Architecture University, the boards of the two universities decided to initiate a proposal project for the alley separating the two buildings. In this way, people would be encouraged to park in the underground spaces and not on the alley’s pavement. This was a team project, in collaboration with the faculty body, aiming to create a plausible solution for the proximity of the university. The alley between the University of Bucharest and the Architecture University is currently used as a car park, extremely crowded both by pedestrian and car traffic. In addition, the cars that are parked on the pavement minimise the space for students to pass with mockups, plans or any other instruments they need for their day to day activity.
proposal
With this in mind, the task for this project was to create an animated pedestrian area using as much as possible from the current context and as few funds as possible. In conclusion, more with less.

PHOGONOMYRMEX BADIUS
The project task was to subtract an element from the natural environment and to study it extensively by decomposing it and translating it into an architectural concept. The project was developed over a period of 4 weeks: • 1 week to decide on the nature element; • 2 weeks for research and concept; • 1 week to prepare the presentation, which was limited to 2 A3 posters and 1 large poster/mock-up. The nest grows by simultaneously deepening, adding of new chambers and/ or shafts and enlarging existing chambers. As a result, the proportion of the nest is always the same. The average chamber size decreases with depth, whereas the spacing between chambers increases. That makes distribution of the nest top-heavy, with about half the total area occurring in the top quarter of the nest. The nest is composed of two basic units: I.SHAFTS: - are formed in helices with diameters of 4cm to 6cm; - descend at an angle of about 15o-20o near the surface, increasing to about 70o below about 50cm in depth; - rarely the number of shafts is greater than 4. II.CHAMBERS: - at first appear to be modified shafts with a low angle of descent and look distinct from deeper chambers, which is why they are called superficial chambers; - begin on the outside of the helix as horizontal- floored, circular indentations, becoming multi-lobed as they grow in size. - height is about 1cm and does not change with the surface.

Concept
Red Ants
PHOGONOMYRMEX BADIUS
After research and study of the morphology of an ant nest, all I had in mind was the ''walking around'' the nest of the busy ants. I realized how natural these shafts must feel, knowing that an ant can walk from the top to the bottom chamber of the nest through these shafts. Another thing that I kept in mind was this simple way of composing spaces on top of each other, but also being able to make your way through them naturally, like you are in a park or someplace alike. With that in mind, I chose to incorporate this type of disposal into a simple rectangular volumetry and transform it into a promenade. In this manner, I gave warmth and a human note to something so mundane and brutal.

Business HUB
Business HUB For my degree project, I wanted to use the community of a neighborhood and perhaps an entire city as the red thread of my work. For my objective to be kept at the forefront of my project, I chose a city I knew well and from more than one perspective: as a resident of the city, as a community member as well as an outsider. In conclusion, I chose my hometown, Brasov, which I had left to go to university. This mixture of perspectives over my city made me realize that the city had shifted its economic power focus from the manufacturing industry to services like product/industrial design, programming, I.T., and economics, which opened the city towards start-up environment development. In order to encourage the city in this direction, my degree’s aim was to create a business hub that will always be in contact with the city, so that the inhabitants of the building develop with the same guidelines and the same purpose as the community of Brasov overall. The old town, the historical centre of the city, is the place that most people like to spend time in, no matter their purpose (tourism, leisure, business, etc.), making this area the heart of the city. Here you can find a great variety of public spaces, like Piata Sfatului – the agora of the city - but you can also find small urban squares where the community in this area can come together and socialize (Geroge Enescu Square, Black Church Court, Prund Square, etc.)

The chosen site is a vague space, previously used as a parking area, on the boundary line of the citadel, so the site is framed on one side by a fortification wall, which is now covered by banners and other commercial panels. To instil purpose this area, I proposed new pedestrian routes in the old centre of Brasov. These routes would connect the marginal urban space to the central one through building a volumetry which focuses on the relation between the space around this new configuration and the city life. The end goal was for the created space to encourage social interaction and to serve the community in a more useful way. By activating this space, there is also the opportunity to dust off and celebrate previously overlooked historic monuments. The proposed pedestrian route offers new perspective on the Schei Gate and the Black Church, while the volumetry emphasises the old city wall and offers a different panorama to the city with its various routes and terraces which resemble watch roads.

Collective Housing
Collective housing This project takes place in an old area, that makes the connection between the downtown area of Bucharest and the rest of the city. This place needs to be rejuvenated, so the project is one semester long and is divided into three parts: • in the first stage, by transforming the studio into a big one team and brainstorming about the possibilities, we analyzed and try to create a baseline to start from and some general rules; • the second stage was to split into teams of five - four people and make a master plan proposal for the area, within the parameters; • in the end, we take a part of the master plan and transform it into something more concrete by individually detailing a part of it, but still, keep it coherent with the rest of the team. Our team purpose for this project was to create a microraion area, that will have green spaces for children and elderly to play and interact, comercial stores, cafe and restaurants and also some business buildings so that everything should be in a 10 -15 minutes reach. And also trying to put a new perspective on some of the cultural building and activities that already exist in this part of the town.
