Light Cemetery

Year - Spring 2017

Instructor - Karen King Location - Undetermined

The Light cemetery has very specific uses and interacts with the summer and winter solstice. They are placed on the tops of buildings in order to catch the light without any interference.

Mace / Weiss Residence

Year - Fall 2019

Construction Completed

Designed while Working at Shelley M. Hughes Architects P.C. Location - Cloudcroft, NM

Project S.F. 1,826 Heated Living Area 2,455 Total

Located on the North East end of Cloudcroft and border National forest two sides and two neighbors. This site was a challenge to accomdate the house the clients wanted and to face the house away from the neighbors and face towards the national forest.

The main focus of the house is a slanted wall that leans towards you and welcomes you in to the home. You walk in to the dining room and kitchen and there is one wall that has a fireplace incorporated that delineates the living room from the dining room. Moving through the Hallway and going towards the Master wing which houses the master bathroom, master closet, and master bedroom at the end of the hallway. When orientating the building we wanted to have as many windows in the Bedroom but also to keep the bedroom private to achieve this we orientated the building 35 degrees to the East.

This house also features a concrete patio on the North end of the living room to look out towards the forest. Downstairs is a living room, closet and bathroom for the owners guests.

Cloudcroft Brewing Company Production Facility

Year - Fall 2019

Construction Completed - Fall 2022 Designed while Working at Shelley M. Hughes Architects P.C. Location - Cloudcroft, NM

Project S.F. 1,826 Heated Living Area 2,455 Total

Located on the North East end of Cloudcroft adjacent to the original brewery building.

The site was an odd shape and also has an electric easement cutting right across the face of the building. This made the building have an odd shape but the owners wanted to get the most out of the land and make this the building where they make all their beer and spirits.

The goal of project was to house double the amount of equipment in order to keep up with a growing buisness. While working with the owners very closely we picked the butterfly roof design. This designed work for them the best because it gave them more height in order to fit all the equipment they wanted and gave them a second story storage area. The main area of the building is all production with fermenters, mast tun’s, letina’s and glycol chillers. It has two restrooms for the employees and a tunnel that goes into their cold room for extra storage. The second floor is for all the grain storage and empty cans.

Residence

Year -Spring 2020 Construction Completed Designed while Working at Shelley M. Hughes Architects P.C. Location - Cloudcroft, NM

Located 5 miles east of Cloudcroft. It is placed on a 2.4 acre site where most of the site on a steep fall off. The challenge for this house was to place the house in a area where most of the trees were already cut or fallen.

The owners came to us with an idea board of what they wanted and how much square footage. As well they had to have a septic tank and water storage since this subdivision has no water source.

The house has one bed room but then has a bunk room with 4 queen bed off to the south. The house has an open kitchen and living room with a deck to east that opens to the view. Down below the deck are two water storage tanks that house 4,000 gallons of water that gets collected from the roof of the main house. The metal siding was chosen to minimize maintenance and save cost.

The Grand Cloudcroft Hotel

The Grand Cloudcroft Hotel is a privatly owned hotel that started design in 2019 as an idea and broke ground on the project last spring.

Construction completion is expected for May 2023.

My role as part of this team was to assist the main architect on the elevations and building sections. I also assisted in the 3D modeling and to show the other partners what the exterior as well as the interior would look like.

Catalyst Church

Year - Fall 2020

Not Built

Designed while Working at Shelley M. Hughes Architects P.C. Location - Cloudcroft, NM

Project S.F. 11,746 Heated Living Area

Located in Artesia, Nm the church pastor came to us as they were working on plans to build their congregation and to start that they wanted to buildini a 300 seat sanctuary and a classroom wing.

Working with an Architect from Las Cruces Nm, we worked on several design options before the church committee selected this option. They wanted the Sanctuary to be a big design feature. We worked very closely with the structural engineer in order to achive our design intent.

We worked on closely together with the architect in Las Cruces in order to get a bid set together to send out to contractors.
