While angling’s innate skills – such as watercraft and strategy – can’t be bought, you can certainly improve your catch returns with the correct tackle. Other items that some might consider peripheral are also part of the bigger picture. If you get your clothing choice right for the conditions you will be more comfortable and will be able to perform better. A pair of good polarising sunglasses will undoubtedly help with fishing spotting, too, and a well-made bivvy and bedchair will vastly improve your enjoyment of long sessions. However, regardless of all the tangible benefits new gear makes to your catches, the simple fact is buying shiny new tackle is a genuine pleasure. THIS compact and durable alarm is designed to suit a multitude of angling situations and has a number of great features. The first thing you notice is the revolutionary built-in snag ears. These can be extended for use when required, or collapsed and held within the alarm’s weatherproof casing when not needed or in transit. Additionally, all volume, tone and sensitivity settings can be changed at the touch of a button and the alarm heads are easily paired with the accompanying receiver. A handy low-battery warning has also been included so that you will never miss a take due to a lack of power. The AVX has adjustable volume, tone and sensitivity settings, but is not wireless compatible and does not feature in-built snag ears.
