Our main focus at this time is drifting, our contributors have been involved at a local level since 2003 when it first took hold in the Pacific Northwest. Being a part of that conception process has given us an opportunity to learn from mistakes made and progress through the years to the point we are at now. Being heavily involved in all levels, we have established ourselves as a main source of information and media for every event within 200 miles of Vancouver, BC.
As our main contributors are located less than an hour from one of the most highly sought after and acclaimed 1/4 mile tracks in the country (Mission Raceway), we have been exposed to drag racing through a variety of cars; everything from top fuel cars to Friday night street-legal classes.
One of the biggest Hill Climb events in Canada only a few hours drive and a driving center and road course within an hour’s drive, have put these types of events these types of events on our radar. With autox, hill climbs and road racing, we have our hands full in BC, and a large following in WA and OR.
Supporting Big Boy Media will give you full exposure on our website, including a rotating banner ad, as well as product information in every related article. We are constantly searching for new material to showcase and promote at every event possible on the west coast. Our contributors are very active on a variety of automotive and photography forums where we would proudly display our banner with your logo on it. This would expose you to all of your key demographics in huge numbers. These forums have 10,000+ members many of whom are very active, posting at least once daily.
Your company logo would appear on all staff apparel: shirts, vests, and jackets staff wear to all events. Your logo would be included on all staff apparel as well as any contributor transportation.
Role: Founder/Writer/Photographer Home: Coquitlam, BC DOB: March 26, 1984 History: Gaelen was introduced to photogra-
phy at a very young age. His Grandfather, Frank Norman, was one of the founders of the Toronto Camera Club in Toronto, ON. Going on vacation with, and taking instruction from his grandfather, led him to eventually pick up the camera himself and explore the extent of what he learned on his own. Gaelen also has devoted a lot of free time to local car clubs, including being president of the Datsun Nissan enthusiasts of BC (dnbc.ca) for 2 years as well as the Administrator of the Northwestnissans.com forum for the past 6 years. Through these opportunities he has found himself absorbed in motorsports which, combined with his passion for photography produced some of the images you have seen today.
Role: Photographer Home: Maple Ridge, BC DOB: December 14, 1986 History: Josh got his start in photography a
little later in life then most. Realising Videography wasn’t for him, he decided to head out to a local store and pick up a camera so he could casually take pictures, never thinking he would take on photography as a hobby. After a few more trips out to CellBlock D in 2009, he realised that photography was a hobby he could enjoy. Slowly adding to his gear, and meeting more people, Josh was getting into the PNW motorsports scene. Today, Josh has joined forces with Gaelen on BigBoyMedia and is shooting more then ever before, from grassroots to pro events. As Josh moves forward with this hobby, he hopes to start helping amature photographers perfect their skills on and off track, while pushing him self to learn more.
We make sure we take time to interact with our fans and followers: everything from talking to them at events to contests over Facebook and Twitter. We’ve also set up a contest for 3 people attending a local drift school event giving them an opportunity to be showcased on our website and report on their experience.
Our most recent venture in interacting with our followers is offering workshops. We know there are a lot of people who follow our blog and are into photography and wish to learn more about it. We hope to encourage them to come out and photograph more events, things of interest and their passions in life. In the past, our staff have all had someone encourage them to take that jump to making photography more than just a casual hobby and we feel it’s time to give back.
