Recent Acquisitions Winter 2018

Recent Acquisitions Winter 2018 As I sit at my desk in the gallery gazing at the first dusting of snow on Aspen Mountain, it’s amazing to think that we have been presenting fine art in Aspen for over 20 years. This Winter, I am proud to present an important collection of Modern and Contemporary works on paper by some of the most internationally renowned artists being collected today. This catalogue represents a diverse group of works that symbolize the depth and breadth of what we have consistently offered since opening Galerie Maximillian in June of 1997. My journey of collecting and dealing in fine art started 40 years ago with a passion for 19th & 20th Century prints and posters. Over the years, my interests have evolved with the market leading me to seek out some of the most relevant and profound Contemporary works available today. First and foremost, I am still a collector at heart, and as such will always offer works for sale that I would be proud to display in my personal collection. In the past 20 years, it has become increasingly competitive to find good works, at fair values, by leading artists such as David Hockney, Donald Judd, Roy Lichtenstein, Ed Ruscha, Richard Serra and Wayne Thiebaud. Nevertheless, we have worked hard to find important examples of these artist’s works as well as present new projects by popular Contemporary artists Mel Bocher, Ian Davenport, Damien Hirst, KAWS, Harland Miller, Enoc Perez, Jaumé Plensa, and others. It has been an honor and continues to be a privilege to mount museum quality exhibitions in such a dynamic arts community. I am proud of what we have accomplished to-date, excited about the future and am grateful to all of our collectors, artists and my dedicated staff – all of whom have contributed so much to our success. Please enjoy this catalog illustrating some of our recent acquisitions. As always, this collection represents only a small portion of our extensive Fine Print inventory. We hope to see you soon so that we may share all of these exciting new works with you. Albert Sanford
