Galileo...where the students are stars!
Galileo School of Math and Science 1600 N. Union Blvd. Colorado Springs, CO 80909 719-328-2200
Dear Galileo Parents and Scholars,
G ALILEO
As we prepare to wrap up this year, what a great year it has been! It has been very exciting with many firsts. Our scholars have made progress in every avenue they have ventured. We have pretty much wrapped up our spots programs and for such young teams with only 6th graders participating, we did a great job. In a year or two, we will be a force to reckon with. I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the many volunteers who spent countless hours working alongside us. We couldn't do it without you, and your help is greatly appreciated. We will begin summer school for both incoming 6th and 7th graders on June 1st. It’s a great opportunity for your scholar to catch up or brush up on the skills he/she needs. Be sure to watch the website for any updates and join us on Monday night, May 18th, for our last community night of this school year. Sincerely, Rusty Moomey Principal

GALILEO ACTIVITIES Galileo Scholars Chat with an Astronaut at the 25th National Space Symposium
Pictured above are the scholars and teachers who represented Galileo when they attended the National Space Symposium sponsored by the Space Foundation and held each year at the Broadmoor Hotel. The scholars were treated to a presentation by NASA Astronaut William F. Readdy where he talked about his space flights and described his work on the International Space Station. After his presentation, our scholars had the opportunity to ask questions about him, his travel in space, and his career. Can you recognize your scholar in their conference attire? GOVERNOR RITTER VISITS GALILEO
Scholars welcomed Colorado Governor Bill Ritter to Galileo, where he spoke for an hour about the components of the Stimulus Recovery Package as it relates to education in Colorado. Governor Ritter also believes that we need schools, like Galileo, that provide innovative education. This meeting was sponsored by the Southern Colorado Black Roundtable whose members were in attendance. This event was also attended by members of the District Eleven Administration, several District Eleven Board Members, Galileo parents, and other Colorado Springs community members. Mr. Don Richie was the moderator who helped make this event a success!
Governor Ritter is proud of Galileo!
