Computer Graphics and Animation (7th Grade) The scholars will use a variety of programs to create different types of digital media, including the use of cameras. The pictures taken will be used in Photoshop to create a many different projects. The end project for the scholars will be the creation of an animation in Adobe Photoshop where they must utilize “tweening”. Drawing and Computer Skills
Drew entire project in pencil on paper before working on the computer. Objects and text are evenly balanced. All the required elements are included on the project. Week 1 Introduction of the Mac computers.

Melon Man assignment: The scholars will create a picture that has a melon as the basic image, then will have to decorate the melon to look like a face using the six food groups represented on www.mypyramid.gov
Week four: Scholars will have a choice of two assignments: a personal logo or a personal collage. Either assignment will be working with layers and blending options. See examples.
Week Five and Six: The scholars will be participating in the restoration and colorization of monochromatic photographs. Scholar will use monochromatic images from the Creative Commons or from the National Archives that is from another culture that sparks their interest. The end product will be a single document of a time period or event that draws awareness to the event. Correct the images for Levels, Brightness/Contrast, Noise and Scratches. Use the Filter>Noise>Median filter menu selection to "smooth" out the image as best as you can. All of these are menu commands, found in the Image or Filters main menus. Use the Blend Tool and the Sharpen/Blur/Sponge Tools for precise control in image correction. Convert the Image Mode to RGB. Add selections from other images to spice it up, if you want. Colorize the images using the painting tools and the Color transfer mode in the tool's Options palette. Alternatively, you may use the Normal mode, and reduce the color's opacity with the sliding dial in the same palette.
Try using selections in concert with the Image>Adjust>Hue/Saturation menu selection to affect the color in specific areas. Week seven, eight, and nine: The scholars will be creating an animated project in Photoshop, where they use photographs that they have already edited, or use images that they edit to make a three minute long segment. Using Photoshop, they will be able to make the images move and export the final project into a Quicktime Format.
