ISLE OF MAN ART SOCIETY EASTER EXHIBITION
PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY RAMSEY CROOKALL
The 2022 exhibition was held over the Easter weekend in the lovely setting of the Villa Marina Arcade. The stylish architecture added a fine backdrop to the art on display.
The Exhibition’s guest of honour was the Island’s Lieutenant Governor, Sir John Lorimer, who was there in his capacity as patron of the Isle of Man Art Society, and he formally opened the event on Thursday evening at a Reception hosted by Ramsey Crookall. Sir John was ably supported in opening the exhibition by the President of the Isle of Man Art Society, David Sayle, and David Harding, a Director of Ramsey Crookall.
This year’s Exhibition was an opportunity to celebrate the UNESCO Biosphere status of the Isle of Man granted in 2016. The diversity of works, with many themes relating to the environment, celebrated the rich culture of the Isle of Man and the people and places that make it such an extraordinarily special place and continued the Art Society’s aim of sustaining the Island’s rich culture, heritage, and environment for generations to come.
On show were works by artists from across the Isle of Man which provided a lovely mix of styles and subjects, with paintings, drawings, collages, jewellery, and sculpture all represented. Most of the works were available for purchase and business was brisk as patrons moved quickly to snap up the work or works of their choice. Once the red dot appeared on an item then the search had to move elsewhere, although the work itself remained on display until the end of the event on Bank Holiday Monday.
