ADRIAN BARICH, sports commentator for 7West and former AFL and rugby league player, is a proud Subiaco resident of over 25 years. He shares his favourite spots in the suburb he calls home.

What’s your go-to place for a morning coffee in Subiaco? What do you always order?

You’ll find me at Little Rokeby Cafe most mornings, probably with our three pugs in tow. What other suburb could you walk around with a “grumble” of pugs and not get strange looks? I always order a small oat milk flat white and most times, three dog biscuits plus possibly a cinnamon scroll (they have the best ones in Perth).

You’re meeting friends for dinner – where do you head to?

I think the company at Bistro Felix is pretty special, Jeremy is quite a character and he’s a bit of a Subi legend. My casual go-to place is Edo Japanese, where I recently clocked up 15 years as a customer. The boss gave me a four-pack of Somersby Sparkling Rosé to

mark the occasion. Funnily enough, I always order the same thing! I reckon over the last two decades I’ve tried just about every eating spot in Subiaco and can generally recommend places to eat based on cuisine and cost. For example, I lament the loss of Funtastico for the unavailability of their pizzas but also know Delisio is very good.

What are you looking forward to during the festive season in Subiaco?

Spending time at my friends Larry and Winnie’s new cellar door, Cherubino City Cellar. It’s a venue that will really add something unique to our Subiaco community,sitting in Rokeby Road. .

What do you love about Subi?

There are too many things to name as really I’m the suburb’s biggest fan but here’s five: 1. The Subi Farmers Market 2. The Subi Tram called Ruby. 3.

5. The Subiaco Theatre Gardens. Dog walking on Rosalie Park early in the morning. The Jacaranda blooms in October and November.
