Arts Education BUILDING PATHWAYS TO CREATIVITY

THE SAVE MART COMPANIES CARES FOUNDATION PRESENTS: THE 2022 STUDENT MATINEE SERIES AT THE GALLO CENTER FOR THE ARTS

Dear Educator,

As the Gallo Center welcomes patrons back after 15 long months, it’s safe to say we are most excited about seeing our youngest patrons. Providing high quality, inspiring, and accessible arts education experiences for the youth of our community is at the heart of our mission and we are eager to get back to it! So as we return to live theater, I’m happy to present to you a mini student matinee series, consisting of five productions, all scheduled to take place between January and May 2022. Even in this small series you’ll notice some familiar audience favorites, including Theatre Hero’s Call of the Wild, and some brand new productions, such as Gallo Center Repertory Company’s stage adaptation of the beloved novel Holes by author Louis Sachar. The health and safety of students, teachers, volunteers and staff are the Center’s top priority. We are in close, continuous contact with county health officials as well as the county office of education on current requirements and guidelines for performances and field trips. The Gallo Center will keep you informed as our performance dates get closer. In the meantime, we encourage you to digitally flip through the following pages and scan the QR codes to see video previews of the wonderful productions in store for you! As always, your arts education team is ready to ensure the best experience possible for you and your students. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Center this season!

Sincerely,

Cortney Hurst

The Stinky Cheese Man & OTHER FAIRLY STUPID TALES FRIDAY, JANUARY 21, 2022, 9:30 AM & 11:30 AM 1,200-SEAT MARY STUART ROGERS THEATER RECOMMENDED FOR GRADES TK-3 CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.1.3 Ask and answer questions about what a speaker says in order to gather additional information or clarify something that is not understood.

Based on the book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith. Poor Jack. He’s got to use his wits to save himself from the terrible Giant, but a host of familiar fairytale characters keep messing up his plans—and then there’s that annoying Stinky Cheese Man! The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales deconstructs the tradition of the fairy tale. Characters slide in and out of tales; Cinderella rebuffs Rumpelstiltskin, and Goldilocks meets the Three Elephants. Nothing is quite the same as you remember it.
