ERIC & LAURA AN INTERVIEW WITH ERIC & LAURA
HOW DID THE IDEA FOR YOUR SHOW COME TO BE?
ERIC: Laura and I were having such fun nightly in our Broadway hit The Cottage, especially in the first twenty minutes, which was just the two of us being hilarious and silly-sexy. One night before the curtain rose, as we were goofing around, she said, “We should do a cabaret!” I said, “Uh… okay.” And before the week was out, she’d booked us six dates. We didn’t even have an act yet!
IS THE SHOW EVOLVING NOW THAT YOU’VE TAKEN IT ON THE ROAD?
LAURA: While we have a framework and story arc for the show and we know which songs we are doing, there’s some healthy improvisation every night based on the city, the crowd or our general mood. Every audience gets something unique. Eric is incredibly quick on his feet, his stories are hilarious and always has the audience and ME in stitches. With every show, we learn from audiences how to make it better.
WHAT CAN AUDIENCES EXPECT TO SEE?
ERIC: For a tight little act, we’re still pretty loose and fun. A real mix of musical influences and personal stories from both our careers on stage and television. And some pretty embarrassing childhood tales, which I love.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE PART OF THE SHOW?
LAURA: I live for Eric’s adlibs. The things he comes up with off the cuff that we then banter on really are my favorite. There is definitely a level of spontaneity that is just so much fun. Every show, he tells stories about “Will & Grace” I've never heard, so there’s always a surprise for me. But I also love the more intimate moments where we each talk about our dreams for our children.
ERIC: Laura doing her spot-on Judy Garland (old and young) gets me every time.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT WORKING WITH EACH OTHER?
ERIC: It’s pretty rare that a gorgeous blond, who sings like an angel, is also hysterically funny and whipsmart and kind. L Bell is that rare bird.
LAURA: Eric has a great work ethic and yet is playful and spontaneous … so while I find him to be a 100% reliable co-star, I also know I’m in for a wild ride!
ERIC, FANS OBVIOUSLY KNOW AND LOVE YOU FROM YOUR ICONIC TV ROLES, BUT THEY MIGHT BE LESS FAMILIAR WITH YOUR EXTENSIVE STAGE WORK. WHAT MAKES DOING A SHOW LIKE THIS SPECIAL AND HOW ARE YOUR TV FANS RESPONDING SO FAR?
ERIC: My twenties were all stage, but mostly in Canada, so for many people, I just suddenly appeared at 35 as Will. Though I’m always surprised how many fans managed to see me as Harold Hill on Broadway in ’01. The fun of this show is getting to really show, for both Laura Bell and myself, the evolution of a stage performer, from a very early age. You can put the kid on TV, but really…he’ll always be dancin’ for grandma!

BANDA MACHOS BANDA MAGUEY y APRIL SHOW
FRIDAY, APRIL 18, 2025, 7:30 PM
$62 - $117
How great is this? Two Grammy-nominated bands from Villa Corona in Jalisco, among Mexico's most successful exponents of the “technobanda” sound, are bringing their Viva La Quebradita Tour to the Gallo Center!
Banda Machos performs a combination of Banda, Quebradita, and Ranchera music, and is renowned for singing songs composed by Joan Sebastian, Jose Guadalupe Esparza, José Alfredo Jiménez, Ivan Diaz, Horacio Ortíz and Marco Antonio Solís. The band has been together for over 26 years and has recorded over 22 albums.
Banda Maguey , nicknamed “The Star of the Dances,” became a favorite during the 1990s Banda craze. Led by former vocalist Ernesto Solano, they took over the radio waves with their debut album Tumbando Caña in 1994, which contained a number of hits including “El Alacran.”

GARRISON KEILLOR BASK
SUNDAY, JANUARY 19, 2025, 5 PM
$52 - $77
PRESENTED BY: SPONSORED BY:
Here’s an absolutely delightful evening of standup, storytelling, audience song, and poetry. One man, one microphone. There are sung sonnets, limericks and musical jokes, and the thread that runs through it is the beauty of growing old. Despite the inconvenience, old age brings the contentment of LESS IS MORE. Your mistakes and big ambitions are behind you, nothing left to prove, and small things give you great pleasure because that's what's left.
There is the News from Lake Wobegon, a town booming with new entrepreneurs, makers of artisanal firewood and gourmet meatloaf, breeders of composting worms, and dogs trained to do childcare. But some things endure, such as the formation of the Living Flag on Main Street, citizens in tight formation wearing red, white or blue caps, and Mr. Keillor among them, standing close to old neighbors, Myrtle Krebsbach (“Truckstop“) and Julie Christensen (“Bruno, The Fishing Dog“) and Clint Bunsen. And an a cappella sing-along with the audience singing from memory an odd medley of patriotic songs, pop standards, hymns, and ending with the national anthem.
