completely different industry at the ripe old age of 51. And my family had just suffered a tragedy two years prior when our younger son, Ryan, drowned while life guarding at a summer camp. At the time I felt incapable of feeling joy ever again. The Gallo Center taught me otherwise. It brought me enormous happiness. I experienced hundreds of shows, met many new friends (all of you!), and worked with a group of talented, dedicated, hardworking professionals and volunteers who enriched my life. I learned new skills and hopefully made a difference for the Center and our community. I am so proud of what we together have accomplished over the past decade-plus. The Gallo Center is not only beloved in central California but also is well respected by artists and agents nationwide. It is practically debt free and on strong financial footing after a wobbly start 14 years ago. Thousands of children have grown up with the Gallo Center as part of their lives, never knowing our community without it. Many new initiatives came to life: Gallo Center Repertory Company, Modesto Rotary

from you, our donors and ticket buyers. You’re the best! After more than a year of no live shows, we are especially excited to present a new season. We hope you find much to love in 2021/22. We think the season has a little bit of everything and hopefully something for everyone. Enjoy! You’ll see me at the Center again when I join you as an enthusiastic patron in the days ahead. Please give the same love and support to my successor, Chad Hilligus, that you so graciously gave to me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me do the best work of my life. Center. I had been a Board member for several years and was passionate about the Center’s mission. I felt tremendously honored, and although I still had lots to learn, my two-year term as Chair would not start for another seven years. I began July 1, 2019, going to work attending events to welcome folks and thanking them for their support, organizing the Board’s strategic planning and conducting Board meetings. It was all going smoothly with much success, sold out shows and happy audiences.

Then it all came to a screeching halt. COVID-19 has been cruel in so many ways. The Gallo Center for the Arts is a unique public/private partnership. Construction was funded jointly by the County of Stanislaus, which owns the facility, and contributions from more than 4,000 individuals and businesses given to a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which today operates the Center.

The Gallo Center has used the closure to learn how we will adapt. By surveying our patrons and speaking with our theater colleagues across the nation, by collaborating with Stanislaus County leaders and health officials, and by studying the health protocols being adopted in live entertainment venues around the world, this is how the Gallo Center is reopening:
MASKS & SOCIAL DISTANCING Following guidelines issued by the State of California on June 15, 2021, Gallo Center patrons who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 are not required to wear masks while attending performances or other events. Patrons who have not been vaccinated should wear masks. Social distancing is no longer required under the new guidelines. If changes to these policies should occur, they will be posted prominently in the Center’s public spaces and on its website.
TICKET OFFICE, CONCESSIONS & COAT CHECK COUNTERS All customer service areas in the Gallo Center have resumed normal operations, but with Plexiglas shields installed at counter

In turn, we will email mobile tickets to you prior to the performance you are attending. Patrons may also print tickets at home and bring them to the Center. If you plan to show your tickets on your phone when you arrive at the Center, please have them ready for scanning before you get to the theater doors. We appreciate your patience as we make this transition.
PAPERLESS PROGRAMS Our show programs are going digital! Joining other venues nationwide, the Gallo Center will no longer distribute printed event programs. They will be available via the show pages on the Gallo Center website, and via online links that are emailed to performance attendees. Access to digital programs also will be provided in the Gallo Center lobby during performances. This adjustment is designed to minimize person-to-person contact while giving you the ability to peruse show information in an easy way. We appreciate your patience as we make this transition.
