A Q&A With Jeremy:
First thing you’ll do when you get home? I will go to my parent’s house. We always have a backyard barbeque at my sister’s house. I will definitely visit the O’Brien’s Supermarket and Starbucks every morning. It is my favorite supermarket on the planet. The sandwich bar is so good and they have this bread called Dutch Crunch and I have not seen it anywhere else on this planet. It makes me so happy. Do you have a favorite local restaurant?

I would like to take the band to Murphys, but being here just visiting my family is the biggest thing. What do you miss about Modesto? I miss living in a house. I miss being in homes. I also miss singing in the symphony’s Holiday Candlelight Concert every year around Christmas. I miss the community. I miss being in the community chorus. I miss my friends. It has changed so much since I left. It is really true, I miss O’Brien’s. You walk in and the produce department is like ahhhhh. How did you start acting and performing? I got pulled into the choir at Modesto High School off of the football team because the teacher, Dennis Clark, was recruiting men for the choir. They didn’t have enough. It kind of blew up
Did you have mentors here who had a big influence on you? For sure Dennis Clark. My first real dedicated music teachers, Shirley Woodward and the late Lewis Woodward. They were huge influences on my education and my direction for how I sang. I would have to say all my teachers. I really started studying theater as I got into college. Paul Tischer from Modesto Performing Arts also has been a great influence and a great guide in my life. Where do you go from here? After Modesto, we are continuing with Phantom so that is taking a lot of my time. I’ll also be taking this concert tour through the Midwest, and I’m in talks with a producer about the second album.
from there. I was resistant to it but the minute I started I loved every second of it. That is all I wanted to do. I wanted to sing sing sing sing sing. It led to going to MJC and then led to a scholarship at UC Irvine and then that led me to moving to New York to pursue it. I left in 2002, but come back at least every year, sometimes two or three times a year.

Bradd Marquis SERVES UP A BRILLIANT TRIBUTE TO
Sam Cooke SATURDAY, JANUARY 8, 2022, 7:30 PM TICKETS: $39/54/59
Singer-actor-writer-producer Bradd Marquis stars in this fantastic new show depicting the life and music of iconic, legendary Sam Cooke. It’s a rip-roaring salute to one of soul music’s founders, featuring “You Send Me,” “Only
Sixteen,” “Cupid,” “Chain Gang,” “Twistin’ the Night
Away,” “A Change is Gonna Come,” “Wonderful World” and many more indelible musical memories. The Music of Sam Cooke traces his career from its foundation in gospel music through his success as a pop star. It’s a portrait of a unique artist who not only helped bridge the gap between black and white audiences, but also crossed generations. Marquis’s vocal tone, passion and purpose is often compared to Marvin Gaye and other soulful crooners, and he’s uncanny as he brings to life the charismatic performer who melded elements of R&B, gospel and pop into a sound that helped give rise to Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding and many others.

Marcos Ayala, artistic director and choreographer, has created an extraordinarily thrilling program for Tango Argentina’s inaugural tour of the United States. It is an experience that leaves the audience astonished beyond their expectations. He also expresses choreographic traditions and contemporary stories without neglecting the style of dance that he best interprets, “tango.” Tango Argentina is comprised of 12 of that nation’s greatest tango dancers and musicians.
