Sbonelo Khwela shares his passion for paddling A product of Martin Dreyer’s ‘Change a Life Academy’

Sbonelo Khwela has not only beaten some of the country’s toughest rapids to become one of South Africa’s top four paddlers but has overcome a situation of lack to become a man that is able to invest in the lives around him. Khwela’s world was turned upside-down in 2008 when the Martin Dreyer Change a Life Academy equipped him to take on the three day Dusi kayaking ultra-marathon.

Garth April was a schoolboy sensation who had aspirations to be a professional rugby player and signed with the Golden Lions after school. Garth quickly learnt that professional rugby is no easy feat, and after suffering a shoulder injury, his return to professional rugby has been a journey of self-discovery. In 2015 in the Cell C Community Cup final between Rustenburg

Impala and Durbanville-Bellville, Garth performed outstandingly for his club. His performances in the Community Cup saw the Sharks offer him a two year contract which has seen his star rising again.
