Game|Changers Monthly Digest. October 2011.

1. Introduction This is an official Game|Changers ad-hoc education program digest containing information about meetings and events we have organized and took part in and results we achieved during the month.

Game|Changers is a free one-year program for ad-hoc education and research of IT business designed for 20 students. It also includes open innovations, business development and HR platform for organizations and event series with the whole expected audience of 250-300 people.

The program has a main corporate track and additional tracks on some particular topics: banking, bio-informatics, entrepreneurship, and ecosystems. The digest will be divided by tracks, but there will be additional separation as well.

2. Alumni information (2010-2011) We track previous year students’ achievements and involve Game|Changers alumni in further program activities. On October, 1 Elizaveta Kosyachenko was promoted to the position of Consultant, Risk Consulting department at KPMG (St. Petersburg office).

3. Corporate track meetings We began our work with an organizational meeting on 5th October in JetBrains just a few days after results of the application process had been announced. During this meeting we have been introduced to each other - both participants and curators. Also we had a key guest Yandex - Dmitry Kochmar (Vertical Services). After a short introduction we divided into a few teams and created our vision of educational process from the participants’ side, and presented it to everybody. As a homework we had to complete our suggestions about educational process, structure it and present to the curators during the next meeting. Also we have received a Quest (Quest is an extra task usually considered as non-trivial): to write about ARPA-ED (http://www.ed.gov/sites/default/files/arpa-ed-background.pdf) document in 5 tweets or equivalent blog post. This task was successfully completed by 3 participants. During the next organizational meetings on 9th and 16th October in HomeWork (http://hw.shouldknow.ru/) roles and tracks were chosen by participants and discussed with organizers. Game|Changers is a wiki course and it means that most of every-day work on educational process is done by participants themselves with help of curators.

When all organizational issues were resolved we began to work on the topic IT for Business, 12th October in AU RAS. Key experts: Alexander Klechikov (Deputy Director for IT at Institute for System Analysis and Monitoring), Alexey Korotkevich (Deputy General Manager at FORS SPb).
