EDITOR & CHIEF

LETTER FROM EDITOR

ANDREAL MALLARD

This publication is dedicated to the transformative power of partnership. Collaborating with individuals who share similar goals—whether for the short or long term—can propel us toward our aspirations. Ask yourself: Are you engaging with the right people and attending the right events? What can you do to enhance your value, not just for yourself, but for others as well?

The Power of Partnership: Unlocking Success Through Collaboration Written by Andreal Mallard In today’s dynamic landscape of business and community, partnerships are vital for achieving ambitious goals. Entrepreneurship requires not just individual drive but also a quality team and effective systems to generate sustainable profit and success. Often, we find ourselves trapped in a "do-it-all" mindset, feeling isolated and overwhelmed, which can lead to resentment when support from friends and family falls short. Overcoming obstacles in any endeavor demands resilience and the right support network. The right partnerships can provide resources and opportunities that we might overlook while chasing immediate gains. It’s essential to reflect on whether we’re surrounding ourselves with people who genuinely align with our vision or merely fitting into circles that don’t fulfill our needs.

For instance, my journey in serving young boys in the school system was made possible through invaluable partnerships. With the support of influential figures, I gained access to vital networks, enabling our organization, Streetz of Gentlemen, to reach over 7,000 youth and help break cycles of adversity they face daily. Without collaboration with other entrepreneurs, writers, editors, and designers, producing over 30 issues of Game Changers Magazine would not have been possible. As you read this publication, I hope the stories inspire you to forge meaningful connections that lead you down the right path. If you’re already on that path with a strong team, share your experiences to uplift others who may be struggling. Together, we are stronger. Through the right partnerships and collaborations, we can all succeed. Thank you for your support as we continue to showcase the Game Changers in the Southeast Region and beyond! #EducateTheMind #ElevateTheSpirit #EliminateTheStereotype #EEEsUp.

Free Yourself From The Judgement of Sin: CaDee Motivates Youth To Walk In Your Assignment

"It starts at Home, Talk To Your Kids! Minister to them at The House! Learn Their Levels"

MINISTER CADARIUS

Minister, author, youth motivational speaker, CaDarius Shannon. Minister CaDarius Shannon encourages us all to be confident in our assignment regardless of the culture of judgment in the churches or our sin; he reminds us we all sin and fall short of the glory of GOD, so stay focused on our purpose because we're still anointed to do a work. He says our sin doesn't dictate who we really are. He speaks to the state of the church in 2024 and encourages intention towards purpose vs focus on judgment for sin. Mr. Shannon continues to do everything in his will to connect to the youth; if it takes wearing nappy hair to be in the mix, or whatever will attract the youth that need to hear & heal from voids. He says social media is distorting reality and he's helping to change perspectives from the inside face to face contact. Minister CaDarius said the first key is showing love not judgment, the Word of God alone does the internal work. CaDarius says the youth are packing the churches now, church is different (no Sunday schools) more is on the ministers to responsibly deliver the WORD OF GOD effectively and his focus is on youth. Minister Shannon says his ministry started in the clubs, while bullets flew by his head, in the midst of his sin. He’s been involved in multi-cultural ministries that instilled love as the main component. God's will is going to be fulfilled regardless of where we are if we just stay focused on GOD.

CaDarius says the name of JESUS has power and it shows. He's seen too many instances where JESUS name has shifted his environment. Minister Shannon says your ministry covering makes a huge difference as he’s served with Tabernacle of praise (pastor TJ McBride) where he’s served for 9+ years of obedience and servitude. Mr. Shannon says part of staying on focused task is simply saying “YES.” He says, your YES is not just for yourself. He learned that by being a servant. Minister CaDarius Shannon is a family man with wife & 4 kids and still finds time to be an author of a book called “Stop Doubting You.” Some of the key highlights are; never doubt yourself, some people work 9-5’s while others have dreams and visions GOD gave them for generations & wealth; it's up to each individual to trust themselves and the leading of GOD to see it be manifest. Know that each one has what it takes to fulfill each dream & vision given. Minister Shannon reflects on one of his favorite chapters entitled “stop dreaming.” It speaks on taking the dream to a reality by teaching ways to move versus just daydreaming. The idea is, dreaming is like a rocking chair, one can rock all day, it gives you something to do, but if one never gets up to process what one thinks about, it's pointless. Instead, one should make our request, respond, receive, then go to work.

Minister Shannon says; he created this book to be a simple read for many ages. It's a 75 page, interactive workbook, get your copy today. Mr. CaDarius speaks on the importance of balance regarding family. There are times he has to shut everything down to spend intentional family time. He says, never get so busy you forget to create a life and support the family. Shannon says he wants to continue motivational speaking and dealing with the youth. He says it has to be a spiritual awakening to feed our youth. He says, it starts at home, talk to your kids, minister to them at the house. He challenges parents to learn at their children & teens levels. Share in their social media so we know what stimulates them. He agrees to be radical & shake things up, challenging teens to be different and confident, yet showing the youth love; less judgment and more love. Shannon says be aware it doesn't matter if you're in the hood or suburbs, trials & problems still exist, so he intends to continue reaching youth abroad. GAME CHANGERS MAGAZINE |11

“Small Acts Lead To Major Impact”

GAME CHANGERS MAGAZINE |12

HENRY COUNTY BOC CANDIDATE Changing the distance a Henry County resident travels for dining and entertainment serves two purposes. Not the least of which is making sure money stays in Henry County and provides more jobs in the area. The other major accomplishment of this Initiative is it can help drastically lower the tax base.“ Our quality of life needs some work. Let’s take for instance fine dining. Let’s look at a restaurant like the CheeseCake Factory. Where as you know. The CheeseCake Factory when they look at different segments on how they want to build in a specific county they look at medium income and they also look at population.

Written by Chilton Stewart

Demetrius Rucker is running for District 1 Henry County City Council and believes that small acts can have a major impact. His desire to see Henry County grow in a way that relieves the taxes levied on its citizens is a major focus of his and one he loves to speak about. “We should be going in the right direction but right now currently we are not. There are a lot of people as I speak to those in Henry County, especially in district one. They talk about having more of a variety of things to do in our county. As you know a lot of the things we have to do to enjoy ourselves we have to get on 75 maybe go to Atlanta or Buck Head or Decatur.”

Right now we don’t kind of meet the mediums income because our medium income in Henry County is right around 77 - 78 thousand [dollars]. But we can reach it if we develop. If we have a good balanced development plan in Henry County, especially District 1.” He continues “A Great Wolf Lodge would be a great addition to our county down in this area. It would bring a certain level of revenue to the county as well because you can have companies that would come and do team building and conferences.” Mr. Rucker’s dream of Henry County is expansive and includes bringing in more businesses as well as better parks and recreational centers. Things we can control like internally. Investing more in our parks and rec. Investing in our walking trials, in our bike lanes and our parks. Some of our parks need our investment in them and we also need a new park, a new recreation center maybe closer to the Hampton area. So that we can have activities there that people can enjoy not just for the oldest person in Henry County but down to the youngest person in Henry County” On economic development in general he states. “Economic Development “

District 1

DEMETRIUS RUCKER

includes jobs and business. We have a lot of industrial warehouses in the area. We want to make sure those businesses stay. So there’s an Initiative that is going towards a pilot that I would definitely approve of and I would definitely get on track to partner up with the local colleges in the area so we can make sure that people that are here are educated, trained and are employed in this area so that we can keep those jobs here. The younger generation, they want to, almost walk to work if they could. So developing those rooftops and if they can walk to work or even bike to work..There’s two parts of our population growth. If you look, Henry County is getting a lot younger. Our elderly are becoming a smaller segment when you look at the population percentage. As a matter of fact the median average age in Henry County is like thirty seven years old. What I plan to do is bring more things here that that segment enjoys because that’s going to be your next homeowner, that’s going to be your person, that's going to be your next shopper here.”

The issue of county taxes is one that hits home to Mr. Rucker. He is indeed as of the writing of this article trying to find new and innovative ways to reduce property taxes in Henry County in general, District One in particular. “I firmly believe in improving our tax base. We are going to have to do some development to improve our tax base. They’re looking at expanding the land strip (at the airport) so we can bring not only single engine but smaller commercial airplanes in here. Whatever I can do to increase the tax base especially in district one. I am going to do it. He also sharply reminds any and everyone that. “The same pain you’re feeling on taxes, is the same thing I’m feeling on taxes. I don’t get a tax break because I am running for commissioner or because I am commissioner. I look at it as an investment into the county and the district. It is an investment in the county. Over fifty percent of our taxes goes to services provided to the county. I definitely will look towards any way to increase our tax base to get more revenue to come to the county so we can relieve some of that pressure on our citizens. Understanding Diabetes

DIABETES Diabetes is a significant public health issue in the United States. Here are some key facts about the prevalence of diabetes: 1.Prevalence: As of the latest data, about 37.3 million Americans, or 11.3% of the population, have diabetes. This includes both diagnosed and undiagnosed cases. 2.Undiagnosed Diabetes: Approximately 8.5 million people (23% of those with diabetes) are undiagnosed, meaning they have the disease but are not aware of it. 3.Type 1 vs. Type 2 Diabetes: The majority of people with diabetes (90-95%) have Type 2 diabetes, which is often associated with obesity and lifestyle factors. Type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune condition, accounts for about 5-10% of all diabetes cases. 4.Prediabetes: In addition to those with diabetes, about 96 million American adults have prediabetes, a condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be classified as diabetes. Unfortunately, more than 80% of people with prediabetes are unaware of their condition. 5.Demographics: The prevalence of diabetes is higher among certain ethnic and racial groups. NonHispanic Black, Hispanic/Latino, and Native American populations have a higher prevalence of diabetes compared to non-Hispanic White populations. 6.Age Factor: Diabetes is more common among older adults. About 29.2% of people aged 65 and older have diabetes, making age a significant risk factor.

Question #2: How has being a part of the Junior Tank Competition with the Henry County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, helped you with building your business?

Since doing the Junior Tank Competition, our ability to participate in more local events and exposure. We have met so many people and made a lot of connections. Our mom, who is also a Delta, is the real networker, she makes sure that we are out at different events, our table set up is on point and our gear is top notch.

Question #1:Tell me about your and how you came up with the idea for your business? I'm Mya, I am 14 years old, and I've been baking since I was 5 years old. I'm Maci, I am 11 years and I've been baking since I was 4 years old. We've been in the kitchen learning from our dad, the Cake Doc, he's the best teacher. We love to be in the kitchen coming up with new items for kids, just like us. We started making videos with our dad in 2018. When COVID hit in 2020, we wanted to find a way to stay in touch with our friends and family. We created a monthly subscription box, which includes our homemade cake mix, deco, cupcake tins or cake pan, instructional video, and a sweet surprise from us. There were a few classes that we did live via Zoom and those were really fun. We continue our classes today and now that COVID has subsided, we are now doing our Mobile Cakin' with MnM. We come to you and conduct a class. It can be for a kid's birthday, corporate event, family fun night or just a night with friends. We mainly cater to kids, but who's to say adults are big kids themselves, just like our mom and dad. Our goal is to eventually have our cake mixes in local and nationwide stores, so everyone can enjoy the treats of Cakin' with MnM.

Question #3: How impactful was your family in starting your business? Our parents were very impactful with our business. They see something in us that we don't normally see, and they help to pull it out of us. They are always there at every event or class, and every taping. We would say that they are #1 number cheerleaders. They are guiding us down this path and want nothing more than to see us live out our dreams. Having supportive parents really does make a difference. We can bounce ideas off of them and they give us honest feedback, which really helps us in creating new products. GAME CHANGERS MAGAZINE |17

Tanisha Bowman Is Written by Dominique Huff

“It’s important for women to empower each other rather than compete against each other. We get so embarrassed and ashamed to show the world what is going on,” she said. “When we are open to sharing our testimony and pain, we realize that it's so many women dealing with pain and being broken; we need to remind each other that we still can.”

Nowadays, everyone wants to empower women, but most are only seeking to enhance their social media presence and bank accounts. Not Tanisha Bowman. She has been there, done that. She is a teen mom who dropped out of high school and, sadly, was part of a generational legacy of such failures. “I was a teen mom with no high school education. So was my mother and her mother. My grandmother’s mother was a slave,” she said. “I was a mother at 15, then again at 20, and then I adopted my younger brother as my mother was unable to care for him at 24. I was a struggling mother with three children who was broken and just over broke.” Bowman’s inspiration came from her daughter, who became the first to graduate high school and go to college to become an attorney.

“I was a teen mom with no high school education. So was my mother and her mother. My grandmother’s mother was a slave,”

Her initial project was WeSmile, an acronym for Women Entrepreneurs Seriously Making Intentional Lives Everyday. The project was simple: help guide women in business from entrepreneurship to direct sales. Bowman stumbled into this when she was working for a direct sales company. “I wanted to change the mindset of women in business. If you want to be stressed, get a job,” she said. “When I use the gifts and talents that God has given me, it does not cause sorrow and pain. I am not saying stress is not real, but it’s not for me.” She remembers that during her early days in direct sales, she encountered many hurting women, and God spoke to her about her assignment, hence WeSmile. “I was there initially to make money, but I saw many women hurting, and I knew we had work to do. This gave me my purpose,” she said. “I had to remind women that obstacles were not roadblocks.” She is passionate about women in business and about being focused, balanced, and accountable. She is not a typical business guru who tells women to quit their jobs now and start a business, but she encourages women and works on their mindsets.

“Keep your job or career until you are ready to walk in entrepreneurship fully, but this is time for your business after work or before work,” she advises. “You can work both until things are tight and right. While you are waiting, don’t sleep on you.” With that, she doesn’t want you to have a ‘dream deferred’ or ‘forever dream’ but ‘bet on yourself.’ In her version of Hustle, while you work, she reminds women to think from the mindset of ‘it’s okay to stay up all night for your dreams if you are up all day helping someone else build their dream!’ From that foundation, on July 22, 2023, WeSmile evolved into BrokeCan. This transition was a result of Tanisha's desire to reach a wider audience and her belief that all women, regardless of their circumstances, can achieve their dreams. While WeSmile is centered on women in business, BrokeCan brings all women, regardless of their walk or journey, to the table for empowerment.

Tanisha is a keynote motivational speaker, social media influencer, Co-Author, certified empowerment/leadership coach an award winning entrepreneur who delivers high-energy keynotes presentations that challenge audiences to leverage their focus and pay attention to what matters most in their life.

“Any woman can be broken but existing, and she may think it's too late, or it will never be here when it comes to a better life, but I am here to say you are broke, you still can,” she emphasized. 'BrokeCan' is a reminder that no matter how broken or disadvantaged you may feel, you still have the power to change your circumstances.

Some of this foundation goes back to being a single, struggling mother with three kids looking for a savior and an escape. She had to recognize that she had to heal herself to find her purpose and be a better mother and a suitable candidate for a wife. “When God created you, he only made one of you. He threw away the mold used to make you,” she said. “So embrace those talents and gifts and put them to work.” From business to life, Bowman believes that all women can. It’s never too late.

Demetrius Dixon uses ‘SCALE Logistics’ to elevate lifestyle, mindset Written By Dominique Huff

From the seat of the tractor-trailer to the man behind the scenes, Demetrius Dixon is passionate about logistics. And he’s even more proud that he earned his way to having a seat at the table, not only participating but also making decisions and charting the course for SCALE Logistics. SCALE Logistics is a third-party logistics provider specializing in freight management for aerospace and manufactured products. The company offers supply chain logistics services that include full truckload, flatbed, and small parcel shipping, drainage services for the Port of Savannah and Charleston, warehousing solutions, and expedited transportation shipments. With 16 years of experience, Dixon recognized he could only do so much as a driver, and if he wanted to do more, he would have to change seats. “My wife was at home working the business by herself, so I had to sacrifice driving and work more on the back end of the business,” he said.

GAME CHANGERS MAGAZINE |22

SCALE Logistics is a husband-wife team, and when asked about the secret to making it work at home and in the office, he says, “we both had an agreement that we were going to make this thing work.” As a newlywed couple celebrating five years of marriage, Dixon shared that they set a series of ambitious goals at the start of their journey. Now, as they mark their anniversary, they can proudly say that they have achieved every single one of them. “It’s hard to do anything alone. My wife and I found ourselves becoming models for people around us,” he said. “It hasn’t always been easy, but we agreed that we would make this thing work as we are on the same team.” SCALE Logistics is a partner in supply chain planning, day-to-day execution, and strategic recommendations to reduce freight costs. This allows them to become beneficial partners to clients. GAME CHANGERS MAGAZINE |23

Shifting from employee to entrepreneur, he states that one must have a clear vision and be coachable and accountable. “Be ready to work. You can get paid for eight hours by working for someone else guaranteed, but in entrepreneurship, you have to eat what you kill,” he explained. “You must do something you enjoy and take your business seriously.” He encourages mentorship, which he does for young boys in Henry County, but he says you need a mentor in business. “Don’t be afraid to seek mentorship in business and ask questions,” he said. “Be coachable!” The company currently works with customers in 12 states and can serve 40 states. It offers same-day, expedited, and tailored shipping solutions.

Husband- Father-Mentor The business has allowed him and his wife to be there for each other and become more active parents. “We can have a quiet vacation while working,” he said. “We can go to church and do things on our schedule. Being more organized, focused, and shifting mindset has helped our business grow.”

Network Marketing: From Side Hustle To Full Time Career

Tyronica

Carter Building A 7 Figure Business

Social media is buzzing with terms like ‘boss chicks,’ ‘high value,’ ‘entrepreneur,’ ‘passive income,’ and others to discuss everyone who claims to be making money, getting money, and living their best life. While most just type and talk a good game, Tyroncia Carter is doing the work and has the receipts to show for it. Carter was living her dream. She was married with children and working as an educator in her college field of study, but the money just did not match her investment and commitment. She was ready for a change, with 15 years of education experience on her resume. Initially, she was told about network marketing, and like most others, she politely declined. “I declined initially as I didn’t want to become another worker bee making others rich while I just got pennies,” she recalled. “Then, my husband was like, give it a try as the products are affordable, and teachers could buy it on their salary.” Carter gave herself a goal of making $500 by the end of her first year. She started the business in March and made her goal by the end of the month. Like many others, she had issues with network marketing, but she critically considered how it operates like any other business. “As a teacher, I never made what the superintendent makes. If you work in a corporation, you will never make what the CEO makes, but no one questions or scoffs,” she thought. “In network marketing, you earn your keep, and there’s no salary cap beyond the cap you give yourself.” What started as a side hustle to help stretch a teacher’s salary ended up replacing it. Carter loved the classroom and her impact but looked at how she could use her skills differently. “My passion and love for teaching is still there,” she said. “I just have a different classroom.” Before you quit your job, network marketing, like anything, requires mastery and comprehension.

GAME CHANGERS MAGAZINE|27

“You have to tailor things to what is comfortable for you based on your passion. I had a passion for fashion and jewelry, and I learned the craft of the business,” she explained. “The thing about the business is you can work it in so many different ways. Once you master it, you can help your team tailor it to your comfort. She documents her journey and experiences in three books: 6 Figures and Beyond, Secrets to Success for Women in Business, and Journey To Six-Figure Income: The Blueprint. In these books, she talks about her journey to making six figures, advises other women in business, discusses network marketing, and provides some inside tips to guide you in the industry. When asked about advice for those considering business or in their early phase, her response is simple–do the work. “You have to set goals and standards for yourself and then meet them. Network marketing is a business where you will see the fruits of your labor,” she explained. “The pay reflects how much you work.” Working through Paparazzi, consultants can earn 35 to 45 percent gross profit for each item sold. The 2021 Income Disclosure Statement reports income earned by consultants will vary on the time, dedication, and effort each consultant puts into their Paparazzi business.

“I became the parent I wish my students had when teaching. I was involved and engaged as a partner in the learning process,” she said. “When I was teaching, I would be involved in after-school clubs for the students, grading papers, working late, and doing lesson planning to the point I was too tired for my children. After I left that career, my son told me I was much happier. “ Regarding her husband, they are building an empire together, working on their passions. “Once we became business owners, we both were allowed to do this full-time. We had to come together on what we wanted this to look like,” she explained. “We made a pact knowing that we are on to something bigger. We go over our goals and decide what we want to achieve together, which helps us unite in front of our children.”

Succeeding as a consultant requires hard work, and there are no guarantees of success, but consultants who invest time and effort into such can see some income. Her team includes 128,000 consultants within the Paparazzi Organization. She is a 7-Figure EarnerBling Boss Recipient, Crown Club 50 Member, and other notable titles. Carter’s husband is also a business owner with a cigar brand. Being married to a business owner encouraged and held each other accountable. It also provided more time for family and parenting.

Celebrating 5 Years In Business Building Networks Through Collaborations & The Power Of Partnerships written By Chilton Stewart

Game Changers Magazine

Cover Story

Sherry Devouse-Dennard and Kim Mays are State Farm GIANTS…LEGENDS in the very competitive industry of insurance. Each independent business woman, while happy to celebrate their success, is in no way ready to kick their heels up and pat themselves on the back and both are grateful for the friendship that they share through collaboration and the power of partnerships. “It was intimidating to start this journey. Starting this business was new, because I was not an entrepreneur prior to becoming a state farm agent. I was in corporate America for over 20 plus years and it was a rewarding position for me. It just wasn’t my passion but it was very rewarding. It provided for my family in a big way and I was doing my thing walking that path.

I had no idea I was going to meet Kim. So I was living in Lawrenceville GA. I was fully prepared to jump off the bridge by myself. As fate would have it. You know will always position you to win and sometimes that means in partnership. Meeting Kim has just been a Godsend.” Says Sherry Devouse-Dennard. Both Devouse-Dennard and Mays share a bond and a friendship through being business owners and community lovers. Kim Mays loves the city of Stockbridge and feels blessed to be a part of it. “It's amazing. I'm grateful that God put me here in Stockbridge cause I could have been in any city. I just kind of came here. Embraced where I was and how I can fit in. How can I help? How can I assist? The fact that Stockbridge is growing is really an added bonus. I just kind of grow with them. I've been able to join the city wide authority board which is awesome right? GAME CHANGERS MAGAZINE|31

The State Farm Twins...

Because for me I feel like I get to utilize my prior skill sets that I had prior to becoming a State Farm agent.” She continues “I feel like Stockbridge is a big city but it's not big if that makes sense so that makes it very easy to come in and support the city where the community connects.” While both women are successful beyond most people's wildest dreams both a strong connection and a driving desire to serve guides them both. So much so Devouse-Dennard believes it to be a guiding business principle. “I would say it's imperative that we have community outreach in our practice and just in daily life. Plugging back into the community is essential to make sure that we are having an impact on the community. I

We’re out here everyday trying to get business but beyond that what’s the give back? The giveback is always important. It is important to make sure that we are pouring back into the same community that’s during this business.” It is interesting that both women firmly believe in the institution of insurance and have used that institution to help their surrounding community. “For me insurance is a peace of mind. So what I am doing is paying a little portion of money to give me protection that if I cause an accident or if I have a loss that is an amount of money that isn’t in my bank account there’s an entity to pay for it.” Says Mays “I have good coverage or the right coverage whatever I deem I want the insurance company to pay for me. Instead of me trying to save money in case I cause a million dollar accident. I can go do something else with my money.” GAME CHANGERS MAGAZINE|33

“Like A Good Neighbor.. State Farm Is There” same time as getting the best out of themselves. Sherry Devouse-Dennard believes in finding the best out of a potential agent for her company. “So I think everybody’s story is going to be different and unique. Everybody brings about their own talents to the table and gifts. For me I have a natural knack of just connecting with people and building relationships. When this opportunity presented itself it was just almost a perfect match but again entrepreneurship was not my background so it was a little scary. When you talk about State Farm you already know that’s a solid brand. We’re going to take care of you, we’re going to be there for you. “Like a good neighbor” but beyond that. What impact can I have beyond the brand as an individual.” “When you’re looking at applicants, when youre looking at resumes.

You’re looking for consistency, you're looking for greatness. At the end of the day I'm looking for character, I'm looking for ethics. I'm looking for people that have a winning spirit. It could be someone that’s athletic. People that are in athletics are competitive by nature. And they’ve been taught some principles that are going to be key to selling.” Kim Mays feels that the opportunities are there for those that dare to take it. “To be an insurance agent you do not have to go to college. You have to be at least 18 years old. So I have property and health and casualty and life and health. Both of those separately are 40 hour classes. So you take the 40 hour class.then you sit for an exam. You pass. Your exam then you apply for a license with the State of Georgia.” Indeed Henry County, the City of Stockbridge and City of McDonough is well covered with these two helming the State Farm agencies in town. Staying healthy is not difficult but it requires consistency and a dedication to prioritizing one’s health. Here are 5 tips to help with enhancing one’s overall health and wellness 1. Stay Hydrated: Drinking enough water is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to improve overall health. Aim for at least 8 cups of water a day to help with digestion, skin health, and energy levels. Staying hydrated supports bodily functions and helps flush out toxins. 2. Incorporate Daily Movement: Regular physical activity, even just a brisk walk or stretching for 20– 30 minutes a day, can have tremendous benefits for both physical and mental health. Exercise releases endorphins, boosts energy levels, improves cardiovascular health, and strengthens muscles and bones. But most importantly, it enables us to maintain our health and weight loss goals 3. Prioritize Balanced Nutrition: Focus on nourishing your body with a variety of nutrientdense foods. Consistently eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats supports immune function, promotes weight management, and enhances mental clarity. 4. Practice Mindfulness or Meditation: Stress management is crucial for maintaining overall wellbeing and a robust mental health. Take a few moments each day to practice mindfulness or meditation, which can help reduce stress, improve focus, and promote emotional balance. Even 10 minutes of deep breathing or gratitude journaling can have a big impact. 5. Get Quality Sleep: Sleep is often overlooked, but it’s essential for physical health, mental clarity, emotional well-being and weight loss. Aim for 7–9 hours of restful sleep each night. Establish a bedtime routine to unwind, which might include reducing screen time before bed, drinking herbal tea, or reading a book to signal to your body that it’s time to relax.

Who is Dr. Donna Patterson and how did you get started in the health and wellness industry? I am a Nationally Board Certified Nurse Practitioner with over 12 years of experience in healthcare, and the owner of Rejuvenére Health Medspa, where we specialize in enhancing both men’s and women’s confidence through health and wellness promotion. Above all, I am a Christian woman deeply driven by my faith and the power of prayer, which guides every aspect of my life, including my business decisions. In addition to my career, I am a wife and mother, and my family is a core source of my inspiration and strength. Before becoming a nurse, I worked for 15 years as a personal banker. However, nursing had always been my dream. After losing my job during the economic crash in 2009, I relied heavily on my faith and made the decision to pursue nursing school. Although it was a challenging period in my life, it was undoubtedly one of the best decisions I’ve made—not only for my career but also for fulfilling my God-given purpose.

What was it like growing up in your country dreaming of becoming who you are today? Growing up in Jamaica, I always dreamed of being successful and leaving a legacy for my children. However, I never envisioned that I would one day impact lives on such a large scale—advocating for health, being in the public eye, traveling, networking, and even appearing in magazines, on radio, and TV. It’s beyond what I could have imagined. Today, I live a life focused on creating positive change in the lives of others and in our community. Running a business is hard work—it requires constant dedication, from funding and making critical decisions to sustain the business, to following up with and motivating our clients weekly. Despite the challenges, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s more than I could have ever dreamed of, and I’m excited because there’s still so much more work to be done. God has been truly great to us, and without my faith, prayers, and the unwavering support of my husband, daughter, friends, family, business associates, clients, and the local community, none of this would have been possible.

Why is health and wellness so important and how does it help improve quality of life for day to day activities?

What's next for Dr. Patterson? Are you looking to expand the business, what does the future look like for you and your business moving forward?

Health and wellness are foundational to living a fulfilling and independent life. Without good health, we become dependent on the healthcare system and life-sustaining medications, which can limit our freedom and lower our quality of life. On the other hand, by prioritizing our health through proper diet, regular exercise, stress management, quality sleep, and mental well-being, we can significantly enhance our overall quality of life.

My personal and professional goals are deeply intertwined, as both are centered on expanding my influence and impact. Personally, I am passionate about launching my speaking career, with the ultimate goal of taking the TEDx stage, gracing magazine covers, and being featured on television and radio interviews. My vision is to spread the message of health and wellness to millions, empowering people to take control of their lives and their health. In addition, I would like to travel more and step away from the bedside, spend time with my husband and be more intentional in prioritizing my health and wellness. Professionally, I am committed to launching a community initiative that focuses on making a tangible impact locally through weight loss and wellness programs. By promoting healthier lifestyles within our community, we can help people lead longer, healthier, and more fulfilled lives.

Being healthy not only enables us to perform day-today activities with more energy and ease but also reduces the risk of chronic diseases that can be both physically and financially draining. It’s not just about avoiding illness; it’s about thriving—living life to the fullest with the strength and vitality to pursue our passions and goals. Moreover, good health is not only cheaper for us as individuals, but it also eases the financial burden on the community and the healthcare system at large. By focusing on prevention and wellness, we can reduce healthcare costs and improve societal and individual well-being.

Rod "Plump" Holmes

A Quest For Victory In The Jaws of Defeat Written by Michael Brown

Rod “Plump” Holmes is a brother who grew up in Jesup,GA, a small town in SouthEast Georgia raised by a single mom. He played football wearing the #4 at Wayne co high school with an abundance of skills and talents which allowed him to be a multiple sports superstar with the quality of being an achieving student athlete. Although Plump had accomplished so many accolades as a rising star, growing up in Jesup with dreams of making it to the next level, was an uphill battle for most black talent across the board at Wayne County. Rod chose to go against the street life and stay focused on sports. Rod had coaches to help mold him: Roy Davis in baseball, Jimmy Heights in football & Horace Boyd in basketball / football. With the support of being surrounded by good mentorship and leadership, Rod still felt a void in his life, always wishing and hoping that one day his father would be in the stands to watch him play. The feeling of not seeing his father in the stands was the fuel that lit his fire and motivated him to play at a high level and excel. Rod recalls Larry Armstrong was one of his biggest motivators that told him to keep his nose & name clean and eventually Rod changed his geographics to stay on course to be all he could be. Tyrone Wilson saw something in Rod and continued to feed his needs to keep him going because he saw something special in him. Mr. Holmes says” It was the Village, The People around me are all I had.” Reflecting back on his early childhood, Rod recalls how so many great athletes came through Wayne County and missed the opportunity to play at the next level. Some didn’t have the resources or the relationships, and some received many letters from schools across the country that they never received. Looking back, one of his #1 picks were people who he looked up to such as Wayne James and how he felt this gentleman should've been on someone's team to succeed, but political circumstances took over. He remembers: Mikey Hill, Tyrone McGill, Todd Murray, Dale Holmes, just to name a few, who he considers should be recognized in the Wayne County Hall of Fame. All great talents that kept championships coming to Wayne County but were not promoted to the next level.

"Holmes Runs For 4 Consecutive Kickoff Returns In Recod Breaking Year" There was so much sports talent in the Southeast Georgia area, and Mr. Holmes says “he feels too many gatekeepers kept those talents from growing.” There was no push to elevate their talents or allow scouts to see the talents and with lack of technology resources, as advanced as it is today, many players were often looked over because they had no one in their corner telling them or helping them to create highlight reels or footage of game play. Rod recalls from his own experience how politics held him back, how coaches would hide letters from Universities offering scholarships and visits to come play at the collegiate level and how so many players were disadvantaged of just getting an opportunity after giving their blood, sweat, and tears for Wayne County High School and the Prestige these athletes brought to school. It was a conversation where he was asked “What does Rod Holmes plan to do after high school? Rod answered, he planned to go to college & further his football career. Not to mention, Plump had an outstanding career at Wayne County with one notable achievement where he returned 4 consecutive kickoff returns for touchdowns, a stat that somehow never made the record books. Although Plump was an exceptional athlete, growing up in Wayne County GA presented many obstacles off the field, with the influence of drugs and street life playing a major role in how many young black males fell victim to the lack of resources and opportunity the city of Jesup provided.

Seeking for answers and a chance to produce on a higher level, Plump never gave up on finding out the truth. Was he the reason opportunity didn’t knock on his door at the time or was information being covered and if so why and by who? In his senior year, Holmes recalls a juvenile disturbance, a fight that broke out between teammates which enticed him and Amp McGill to break into the coaches office where he found letters addressed to his mom tucked away in the coaches desk. He was never told he had opportunities to get him to success hidden in his coaches desk in the form of acceptance letters. “I remember coach Davis encouraging the athletes to come out of college prep classes and take vocational classes knowing that would oppress the efforts of student athletes to succeed.

Rod says, “I love what Wayne County made me to be, because it made me better.” There were black coaches on the inside pushing the black athletes to bigger and better schools, but the politics of Wayne County elitist blocked many of these efforts to overcome a chance at opportunity for those with a dream of hope. Overtime things are now on the brighter side for athletes coming out of Jesup and the Southeast Region of Georgia. With the advancement of technology, changing the way athletes are able to promote highlight reels through social media and digital outlets, coaches and scouts from around the world can now be reached and give the next generation a better chance to be recognized and recruited. With trailblazers like Coach Shag, a fellow African American woman, helping and guiding young men and the former alumni like Tre Jacson, JR Bryant, TY McGill, The Wallace Brothers and a list of others, Southeast Georgia is now one of the biggest hubs for grooming top tier student athletes.

We know this surge in cases is coming, so we must start planning and taking action now,” Nick James, Professor of Prostate and Bladder Cancer Research at The Institute of Cancer Research, London, and Consultant Clinical Oncologist at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, said. “Evidence-based interventions, such as improved early detection and education programs, will help to save lives and prevent ill health from prostate cancer in the years to come. PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS MEN'S HEALTH

How Does One Contract Prostate Cancer? Honestly, it’s still being debated, researched, and examined by researchers and medical experts, but all men do have a risk for such, but some factors trigger it more than others. Some of the risk factors for prostate cancer include: 1. Age: Prostate cancer is rare in men younger than 40, but the chances of developing it increase rapidly after the age of 50. About 6 in 10 prostate cancers are found in men older than 65. 2. Race/Ethnicity: Prostate cancer develops more frequently in African American men and Caribbean men of African ancestry than in men of other races. It also occurs less often in Asian American, Hispanic, and Latino men compared to non-Hispanic White men. The reasons for these racial and ethnic differences are not entirely clear. 3. Family History: Prostate cancer seems to have a hereditary component, as it can run in some families. Having a father or brother with prostate cancer more than doubles a man’s risk of developing the disease, and the risk is higher for men with several affected relatives. 4. Inherited Gene Changes: Certain inherited gene changes can raise the risk of prostate cancer, although they likely account for only a small percentage of prostate cancers. It's important to note that the exact role of diet in prostate cancer is not entirely clear, but factors such as consuming a lot of dairy products have been studied for potential effects on the risk of prostate cancer. Other factors to consider are high dairy-based diets, calcium overloads, obesity, smoking, and chemical exposure, but are still under research and debate.

Screening Sadly, screenings are not fully reliable and have also been debated. The Centers for Disease Control notes two types of screenings: the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) Test and the Digital Rectal Examination. One should consult with their doctor about a recommended screening that should be considered. Many free screenings are available through various organizations. The HW3 Foundation works on such advocacy by promoting leading innovative research into prostate cancer health, implementing awareness and advocacy campaigns and education programs for the Atlanta Community, health professionals, and government, and supporting men and their families affected by prostate cancer through evidencebased information and resources, support groups, and prostate cancer specialist nurses.

What are the symptoms of Prostate Cancer? According to the American Cancer Society, early prostate cancer usually causes no symptoms. While not typical, symptoms of early prostate cancer might include: Problems urinating, including a slow or weak urinary stream or the need to urinate more often, especially at night Blood in the urine or semen Coupled with these symptoms, a man with more advanced prostate cancer may suffer from: Trouble getting an erection (erectile dysfunction or ED) Pain in the hips, back (spine), chest (ribs), or other areas from cancer that has spread to the bones Weakness or numbness in the legs or feet, or even loss of bladder or bowel control, from cancer in the spine pressing on the spinal cord Weight loss Feeling very tired

Real Estate In Henry County

Henry County, Georgia: A Real Estate Renaissance

Henry County, Georgia, is experiencing a real estate renaissance. This vibrant community, offering a blend of suburban tranquility and metropolitan convenience, has become a magnet for families and individuals seeking a higher quality of life. Having witnessed firsthand the remarkable transformation of Henry County, I am excited to share the dynamic changes and opportunities within our housing market.

A Market on the Move The housing market in Henry County has been on an upward trajectory, driven by significant population growth. People are flocking to our area, attracted by the affordable housing options compared to Atlanta's pricier neighborhoods. This influx has sparked a surge in residential construction, with new homes and communities emerging throughout the county. Despite rising home values, Henry County remains a beacon of affordability. The average home price here is still lower than in many parts of the Atlanta metro area, making it a desirable choice for families, young professionals, and retirees alike.

Economic Prosperity and Opportunity The economic vitality of Henry County has been a gamechanger for our local housing market. Our prime location, with easy access to major highways and proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, has established Henry County as a thriving business hub. Job opportunities in logistics, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors have soared, drawing new residents and invigorating the real estate market. Investment in infrastructure and public amenities has further amplified Henry County's appeal. High-quality schools, parks, and recreational facilities make this area especially attractive to families, and these elements significantly contribute to our overall quality of life.

The Road Ahead

Looking to the future, the outlook for Henry County's housing market is bright, with continued growth and development on the horizon. I anticipate that strong demand will persist, driven by the factors contributing to our success thus far. However, staying adaptable and responsive to changes in the market and the broader economy is crucial. Potential homebuyers should stay informed, be proactive, and seek guidance from experienced professionals. The Henry County housing market offers incredible opportunities, and with the right approach, you can find the perfect home for you and your family.

Navigating Challenges and Embracing Opportunities

While our housing market is flourishing, it has its challenges. A primary concern is the inventory shortage, which drives up prices and creates a competitive buyer environment. Prospective buyers must be well-prepared and work closely with knowledgeable real estate agents to navigate this market effectively. Sustainable development is another critical issue. As we continue to grow, it is essential to balance new construction with preserving green spaces and maintaining the character of our communities. Responsible development will ensure Henry County remains an attractive and livable area for the long term.

Conclusion Henry County, Georgia, is a shining example of a dynamic and rapidly evolving community within the Atlanta metro area. Its mix of affordable housing, economic opportunities, and high quality of life continues to attract new residents and investors. As the housing market evolves, my insights and experience are invaluable for navigating this exciting landscape. Whether you're a first-time homebuyer or a seasoned investor, Henry County presents many opportunities in a thriving and vibrant community.

FAQ-Legitimation WHERE SHOULD THE PETITION BE FILED? The Petition for Legitimation must be filed in the mother’s county of residence or in the county where any other person who has legal custody or guardianship resides. If there is an adoption pending, then the Petition can be filed in the county where the adoption was filed. An exception to where the action must be filed occurs if the mother of the child is deceased and there is no other legal custodian or guardian of the child. Another exception occurs when the mother has disappeared and must be served by publication but the minor child is living with you. In each of those cases, the action may be filed in the county where you live.

WHO MAY FILE FOR LEGITIMATION?

Only the biological father of a child may file a petition seeking to legitimate his child.

WHAT IS A “LEGITIMATION”? Legitimation is a legal action that is the only way, other than by marrying the mother of a child, that the biological father of a child born in the State of Georgia may establish legal rights to his child.

WHAT IS THE LEGAL EFFECT OF A LEGITIMATION? An order of legitimation creates a father and child relationship legally between the petitioner and his child. An order of legitimation establishes that the child may inherit from his legal father and vice versa. An order of legitimation allows the legal father to be listed on the child's birth certificate as such. An order of legitimation is the only way that the father of a child born out of wedlock can be recognized as the legal father of a child and therefore can petition for custody and/or visitation with this child. If you are already listed on the child's birth certificate as the father, but you and the child's mother were not married to each other, you must still file a petition with the court to legitimate your child. Effective July 1, 2005, requests for custody and/ or visitation may be included in your petition for legitimation.
