When children climb hills, mounds, and other natural objects they develop their physical, cognitive, and motor skills. Hill climbing also enhances spatial awareness, and it’s a lot of fun!

The problem is, not every park or playground has hills to climb, so children miss out on this important play activity. Playful Landscapes can help!

Playful Landscapes Mesas and Dunes are preconfigured hills you assemble on site. Their patent-pending design make it easy to add one or more hills for children to climb and explore. Our LockTech™ framework takes all the guesswork out of the process, with the precise installation you’ve come to expect from GameTime products.

Add climbing hills throughout your play area with these smallto-medium size hills. Dunes have an overall height of 23” with a slope of 38.5 degrees and a 2’ fall height. Add multiple dunes or combine with Mesas for a truly playful landscape!

Mesas offer up to 250-square feet of climbable, explorable, and enjoyable play! With up to a 45-degree slope, they offer a fun and challenging climbing experience, and the large flat top sur face makes them ideal for sitting, resting, and socializing. Play Spheres are play events covered in the same rubber compound we use in playground surfacing, but they’re play activities - not surfacing. Available in three sizes and in full or half sphere styles, they make great gathering areas or mini climbers. Children also love to jump from one to another.

WHAT AGE GROUP IS INTENDED FOR PLAYFUL LANDSCAPES?

For standard Mesa and Dune mounds the age group is listed on the product installation sheets. For custom mounds, the age group is determined by the height and angle of the hill, as well as the type of components and their spacing. If necessary, Landmark Design can perform a risk assessment of your design and recommend an age group.

ARE DUNES AND MESAS CONSIDERED PART OF A COMPOSITE PLAY STRUCTURE?

If a Dune or Mesa is functionally linked to a play system using an integrated climber, it is considered part of the composite play structure.

WHAT IS THE FALL HEIGHT OF A CLIMBER INTEGRATED WITH A DUNE OR MESA?

The fall height of an integrated climber depends on the slope of the area beneath the climber. In most cases, the fall height is measured from the surface directly under the climber. If the use zone has a steep slope contained within it, a taller fall height may be necessary.

CAN I INCLUDE DUNES AND MESAS INSIDE A USE ZONE?

Yes, is the Dune or Mesa is functionally linked and doesn’t impose on the use of other products. For example, you cannot include a Dune under the center of an overhead climber or at the end of a ramp on a play system.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NATURAL TOPOGRAPHY AND PLAYFUL LANDSCAPES?

Many designers use the natural topography of a space to provide playful activity and visual interest. Playful Landscapes Dunes and Mesas offer these same benefits, but also serve as a play event or destination for users.

Warranty

GameTime provides a five-year limited warranty on the Playful Landscapes HDPE frame against degradation under normal wear and usage and a two-year limited warranty on Poured-in-Place Rubber when applied in a Playful Land scapes (mound or hillside) application against loss of integrity due to rubber degradation, where Playful Landscapes are installed by certified GameTime installers following provided installation guidelines and finished with a minimum of 3” of GTImpax branded PIP.
