Master of Athletic Training (MAT) Degree Pathway Options
Graduate MAT Program Curriculum (Traditional 2-Year Program)
Students enrolling in the MAT Program will receive a master’s degree in athletic training. The following MAT Program curriculum will be completed as the graduate portion of all accelerated (3+2) and traditional (4+2) degree pathways. The MAT Program can also be completed as a stand-alone curriculum for students transferring from another institution.


Accelerated Degree Pathway Options (3+2-Year Program)
Students enrolling in the Accelerated Degree Pathway Options will receive a bachelor’s degree in their chosen major/concentration and a master ’s degree in athletic training. After completing three years of undergraduate studies, students will begin their graduate studies in the summer of their junior year.
3+2 Accelerated Health Science
• Students will receive a bachelor’s degree in health science and a master’s degree in athletic training. The following undergraduate curriculum is required to complete this pathway:


3+2 Accelerated Applied Exercise Science
• Students will receive a bachelor’s degree in applied exercise science and a master’s degree in athletic training. The following curriculum is required to complete this pathway:


Traditional Degree Pathway (4+2-Year Program)
Students enrolling in the Traditional Degree Pathway Options will receive a bachelor’s degree in their chosen major/concentration and a master’s degree in athletic training. After completing four years of their undergraduate studies, students will begin their graduate studies the summer following graduation.
4+2 Health Science
• Students will receive a bachelor’s degree in health science and a master’s degree in athletic training. The following curriculum is required to complete this pathway:


4+2 Applied Exercise Science
• Students will receive a bachelor’s degree in applied exercise science and a master’s degree in athletic training. The following curriculum is required to complete this pathway:


Accelerated Advanced Degree Pathway
Students enrolling in the Accelerated Advanced Degree Pathway Options will receive a bachelor’s degree in health science, a master’s degree in athletic training, and a doctorate degree in physical therapy. After completing three years of their undergraduate studies, students will begin their graduate studies the summer following graduation. The DPT program will start following the completion of the MAT program.
3+2+3 Accelerated BSHS/MAT/DPT

Articulation Agreements between External Institutions and Gannon’s Graduate MAT Program
Please refer to the list of other institutions below with pre-approved accelerated (3+2) and traditional (4+2) articulation agreements for guaranteed acceptance into the MAT program at Gannon University. These programs will satisfy the undergraduate curricula requirements at another institution and be guaranteed admittance into Gannon’s graduate MAT program.

3+2 Accelerated External Articulation Agreement
o Students enrolled in an institution with an articulation agreement with Gannon University will receive a bachelor’s degree in a preapproved major/concentration (according to the articulation agreement) and a master’s degree in athletic training.
4+2 External Articulation Agreement
o Students enrolled in an institution with an articulation agreement with Gannon University will receive a bachelor’s degree in a preapproved major/concentration (according to the articulation agreement) and a master’s degree in athletic training.
