DÉRIVE THEATER Complex of theater and museum in city context Individual Work Instructor: Philip Holden Year: SP 2021
The concept is inspired by the derive theory, which is created by Guy Debord, he argues that our experience of a city or a place is what the city really looks like in our mind. Then we apply this theory to architecture, which means our experience of the building will enhance our memory and perception of this building. Based on this conclusion, the theoretical basis for organizing the interior space and redefining the theater is to consider the experience.

NEWBORN OF TOWN Reform Project of Garn In Houan Country Individual Work Instructor: Yuqi Xie Year: 2015
In a ancient town called Houan in China, we are required to renovate a barn to a museum. It is located in Anhui provience, and a varity of ancient buildings round this barn, so we need to consider these prerequisites. In this town, so much young people go to modern cities to make a living and leave their parents and children to live at this town. Considering the specific condition, i decide to design a kindergarten and a beadhouse behind the museum. Tourists could see visit the museum to know the local culture, and old people could take after the children which is also benefical to their mentality. These buliding will creat a energetic atmosphere in small anticent town.
In many vaillage in China, the young parents tend to go to modern city to make a living, leaving their children and old people alone. This phenomenon will cause serious social problems. The society and government need to consider this problem.

Combine the Nursing house and kindergarten to create a reasonable and warm atmosphere, in which old people could feel the energy and inspirement of young lives. This multi-direction system allows olders and children grow together with emotional and physical connection. In this giving area, we could also design a museum by the road to exhibit the folk arts of local area. People who visit the museum could also see the children playing in the courtyard.

The layout of different shapes indicates that the space of memorial hall has its own characteristics. I connect the building space through a complete streamline, forming a loop-locked spacial experience. This unique spacial experience is of the top priority of this project. There are some auxiliary functions in the south, which has no interference with the main exhibition hall of the building.

DISPEL OF SIZE Design of Indoor Stadium Individual Work Instructor: Jieqing Xu Year: 2016
Many gient buildings might split the urban texture, especially in some small place, such as the school and residential quarters. This negative effect might infulence people's feeling to the city. In this project, I attempt to use a special strategy to deal with this problem. I arrange the function of the stadium in advance, and devide them into two parts, then connect them with a bridge, which people could walk across it. This method will make the building amicable to people.
GENERATION OF FORM AND SPACE
Layout: Arrange the function of the stadium in general, split the major stadium and the sub stadium.
Erect: Raise the middle part of the stadium, leave this part for people to walk across, and design the traffic area in advance.
Entrance:
Transportation: The transportation of the builidng, the split will not effect the use negatively because of the arrangement in advance.
The major entrance and the sub entrance are located at the traffic area, which are convient for students and teachers.

SLIENT ROOMS Design of Reading Rooms in The Mountain Individual Work Instructor: Yuqi Xie Year: 2016
In ancient China, some people who want to comprehend the true meaning of life would go to the mountain to live in seclusion. This tradition continues to nowaday. In modern society, some people look forward to live in the mountain. In this project, I design a reading room which is round by several little meditation rooms for hermits. Every rooms is private enough, and they are scattered in this area. People walk along these little buildings, feeling the quite of the forest and the mountain.
CONCEPT DESCRIPTION This chinese traditional landscape painting reveal the life of A group of unique people. They were customed to live in seclusion In the mountains.
Meditation This group people were called hermit, and they were inclined to live in the mountain, since there is a beautiful scene in the mountains.
Broad Vision In the mountaions, people built many mountaion paths to connect different people. In this project, i combine these elements to design a reading room and several meditaion rooms.
Mountain Path Analysis of Space
A small and closed room is a excellent place for people to muse, especially for a place surrounded by beautiful scenery.
In this project, i designed six small . They will be the excellent place for hermits to read and muse.
In the reading room, every seat is private relatively and people could also communicate in this reading room.
In the Zhongnan mountain, northwest China's Shanxi Province, many buildings are built in the moiuntain and people have special feelings about mountains.
Through the cutting of buliding block, i designed a specical building plane which adapt to the local terrain.
The walkway of the reading room symbolize the mountain and the reading room also separates into different private rooms.

MEDITAION ROOM MODEL Because of the location of these rooms, I need to use the local material to build the meditation rooms and reading rooms, such as the wood and stone in the local place. So this little meditation rooms is ade up of wood and stone. In this little room, hermits could sit before the windows and apprecite the scenery. The sunshine will go through the window and wood, leaving the mottled shadow.

FABRICATED DRAWINGS Physical drawings based on digital fabrication tools, techniques and image theory. Group Work Teammate: Yizhen Wang Year: SP 2021 Instructor: Chandler Ahrens Rethink architectural design through the learning of digital technology. One of the ideas of parametric design is to determine a basic logic and method, and generate unknowable diversity through the software, but this diversity is within the limitation of logic. Through the known to generate the unknown, this non-traditional method brings new design ideas.
