At ECCO, we apply our 50 years of shoemaking experience to create outstanding performance shoes. Yet we are not widely known as outdoor shoemakers. This is about to change. Last year, we began applying our breakthrough BIOM natural motion technology where it matters most – to performance shoes designed for nature. Our first natural motion hiking boot, the BIOM HIKE, was chosen as the Scandinavian Outdoor Award Winner 2013. Now, we’ve taken this same award-winning technology and created BIOM TERRAIN and BIOM ULTRA. And that’s just the beginning. We are absolutely committed to expanding our outdoor range even more.

WE STOLE IT FROM NATURE Our core principle is that form should follow function. It’s not about making something pretty. It’s about making it effective. Yet just as with nature, it turns out when you follow this principle, the end result is pretty fabulous looking. Our number one natural teacher is the human barefoot, which is amazingly adaptable and sophisticated — with the added benefit of responding to stress by getting stronger. BIOM, which is short for “bio-optimization” is a design system that frees the foot to use its natural systems. It results in outstanding performance and comfort. BIOM TERRAIN is agile, lightweight and a joy to hike in. Its rounded heel and forefoot give you a more natural stride. Its lowto-the-ground construction helps give you stability along with more responsive performance. The multi-terrain outsole is a marvel of outdoor engineering — featuring specialized lug areas for multi-terrain traction. We also included a special toe cap for added protection. The ankle dot cushioning increases the natural fit and feel, providing long lasting comfort. It’s the kind of boot that encourages you to experience the amazing wonders of nature.

MULTISPORT SEGMENT The idea of these shoes is one form, many functions. These shoes are extremely flexible and lightweight, with soles engineered for proficiency over multiple terrains and materials, that take into account all of the elements. When you put them on, you open yourself up to multiple adventures. Wet-to-dry hiking. Multi-terrain treks. Workday escapes. And whatever else you can come up with.

BIOM ULTRA is our newest natural motion trail runner. It fits like a glove and it rides on a marvel of sole – extremely slim and flexible with grip and traction. The sole has two specialized performance zones. Bigger cleats for more ground contact and propulsion, and specialized lugs for agility and better ground penetration. The uppers are feather light and breathable. It takes the experience of natural motion where it matters most – into the heart of nature.
