The emergence of Christmas lights and holiday decorations right after Thanksgiving is a magical time of year! In December we reflect on the year gone by, celebrate the holidays, and embrace the magic of winter. And there’s no place that captures the essence of Christmas traditions quite like the Garden of the Gods Resort & Club so come and celebrate the spirit of the season with us.

West #8 Drainage Ditch will now be played as a Red (Lateral) Penalty Area…
Penalty areas are one of the five defined areas of the course and can be marked as either red or yellow. When your ball lies in a penalty area, you can play it as it lies or take relief outside the penalty area for one penalty stroke. For either red or yellow penalty areas, you can play from where your last stroke was made (stroke and distance) or take back-on-the-line relief by going back as far as you’d like on the line between the hole and where your ball last crossed the edge of the penalty area. In a red penalty area, you have one additional relief option, which is to take lateral relief within two club-lengths of where your ball last crossed into the penalty area.
When playing a shot from a penalty area, you can remove any detached natural or artificial object (known as loose impediments and movable obstructions), ground your club behind the ball, or take practice swings that touch the ground. However, there are a few restrictions. You can’t deem your ball unplayable or take relief from abnormal course conditions (such as a bridge or sprinkler control box) when your ball lies in a penalty area. If you need relief, you can play under the penalty area relief options discussed above.

SHORT GAME AREA CLOSED FOR WINTER
The Mirage and on-course restrooms have been winterized for the season and are now CLOSED until Spring of 2025. Beverage Cart service has also been discontinued until Spring of 2025. A limited selection of beverages and snacks will be available in the golf shop throughout the winter months.
We had great success with our winter course rotations last season, and we’ll continue this through the winter season moving forward. Due to frost delays in December, tee times will begin at 10am for the entire month. Please call the golf shop or check your emails prior to tee off for updated course conditions and/or delays.
Frost delays may be posted in the tee sheet a week in advance if forecasted low temperatures are sustained. Online tee times will be available one week in advance starting at 9am. If you experience any difficulties using the online tee sheet, please call the golf shop and we'll gladly assist.
• Please call ahead for frost & weather delays (719-636-2520)
• Frost/weather delays or closures will be emailed via jonas to all members with tee times on the day of play
• It is recommended there be a maximum of 2 carts per group during the winter course months. The golf course benefits from less cart traffic during the winter months.
• The GPS units in the golf carts have been removed for winter; the GPS screens are temperature sensitive and can be damaged if exposed to sustained colder temperatures
• The range tee is now imited to the mat area on the south end of the practice tee
• The range balls will be located in the golf shop until spring. When practicing only, those members not on the range club will be charged for their range balls. Balls are included when playing a scheduled round.
• Make sure you are repairIng ball marks and filling divots with sand mix provided throughout the winter season

As we close the chapter of 2024 and open a new one into 2025 we’ve seen great strides this past year with growth in participation, new players entering into the tennis and pickleball realm, and our continued production of events. Our events have seen great participation throughout the past year. This past year we hosted the world renown Bijou Tennis Show with our junior players, many holiday and themed pickleball events, junior and adult racquets programming, and continued success with our USTA men’s and women’s tennis teams who’ve finished top of their divisions respectfully. Looking into the new year, we have a number of fun events on our calendar to look forward to including our rescheduled date for our Tennis Jai Alai on Jan. 24th. We hope you have a wonderful holiday spending time with family and friends and look forward to continued success in the year 2025.
