“ The crsip air of November carries the quiet beauty of autumn and the anticipation of winter."

MESSAGE FROM GEORGE FISCHER

Dear Members,

The crisp air of November carries the quiet beauty of autumn and the anticipation of winter. Another year is coming to a close but first, we encounter a month that is packed with reflection, thankfulness, and expressions of gratitude for the many blessings that we experience in our lives! Whether you’re seeking a moment of calm, a reminder to be thankful, or simply a bit of inspiration to carry you through the month to come, enjoy the activities that we have planned for you at the Club!

Join us on Veterans Day as we honor our military veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces. A special breakfast is being served on November 11th as our way of saying “thanks for your service”. Come early on Thanksgiving morning for the annual Camel Trot which is hosted each year by our Fitness Staff. Then join us for dining in Grand View from 11am-4pm that will be featuring a very special menu for the Holiday. And don’t miss our annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday November 30th followed by a special menu in Grand View. New this year is Music on the Rocks which features a performance by operatic bass-baritone Errol-Wesly Shaw. This inaugural event will take place on Sunday, November 24 from 12pm-2pm and tickets include a buffet brunch.

Enjoy the holiday season at your Club and take advantage of the many activities that are planned especially for you. But hurry and make arrangements as reservations are filling up quickly!

Sincerely,

TASTES & SIPS

KISSING CAMELS GOLF CLUB

2024 MIZUNO COLORADO PGA JUNIOR INVITATIONAL

Special thanks to all those who volunteered for the 2024 Colorado PGA Junior Invitational last month. Our event was a huge success with the Colorado PGA Section and all those who participated. Everyone enjoyed the course and the experience provided by our volunteers and staff. Congratulations to Sophia Lee (150) and Jesse Hand (143) for their Junior Cup Series major victories at Kissing Camels.

#8 WEST UPDATES

West #8 Drainage Ditch will now be played as a Red (Lateral) Penalty Area…

Penalty areas are one of the five defined areas of the course and can be marked as either red or yellow. When your ball lies in a penalty area, you can play it as it lies or take relief outside the penalty area for one penalty stroke. For either red or yellow penalty areas, you can play from where your last stroke was made (stroke and distance) or take back-on-the-line relief by going back as far as you’d like on the line between the hole and where your ball last crossed the edge of the penalty area. In a red penalty area, you have one additional relief option, which is to take lateral relief within two club-lengths of where your ball last crossed into the penalty area.

When playing a shot from a penalty area, you can remove any detached natural or artificial object (known as loose impediments and movable obstructions), ground your club behind the ball, or take practice swings that touch the ground. However, there are a few restrictions. You can’t deem your ball unplayable or take relief from abnormal course conditions (such as a bridge or sprinkler control box) when your ball lies in a penalty area. If you need relief, you can play under the penalty area relief options discussed above.

If so, please stop by the golf shop and have them re-gripped in time for the 2025 golf season. We have a large selection of grips and if not, we can have them delivered within a 2-day window. We are happy to assist you in the sizing and selection of your grips.

KISSING CAMELS WINTER INFO

WINTER COURSE BEGINS NOVEMBER 1

We had great success with our winter course rotations last season, and we’ll continue this through the winter season moving forward.

Due to frost delays in November, tee times will begin at 9:30am for the entire month. Please call the golf shop or check your emails prior to tee off for updated course conditions and/or delays.

Frost delays may be posted in the tee sheet a week in advance if forecasted low temperatures are sustained. Online tee times will be available one week in advance starting at 9am.

• Please call ahead for frost & weather delays (719-636-2520)

• Frost/weather delays or closures will be emailed via jonas to all members with tee times on the day of play

• It is recommended there be a maximum of 2 carts per group during the winter course months. The golf course benefits from less cart traffic during the winter months.

• The range tee will be limited to the mat area on the south end of the practice tee at somepoint during the month of November.

• Once the transition has been made to the mats, range balls will be located in the golf shop until spring. When practicing only, those members not on the range club will be charged for their range balls. Balls are included when playing a scheduled round.

• Make sure you are repairng ball marks and filling divots with sand mix provided

IN OUR COURT

INDOOR TENNIS & PICKLEBALL

THIS WINTER

As we transition into being indoors for the upcoming winter, please help us out when making a reservation to specify if you are playing tennis or pickleball so we can better assist with taping courts if needed. With the unpredictability of Colorado weather both our two outdoor tennis courts will remain available and our outdoor pickleball facility until the first snow. We have started the winterization process but will keep nets up and available for outdoor play until the true winter is here. Once we reach that point at the end of November, we will take down all nets except the 2 outdoor tennis court by the M&M facility and 3 pickleball nets on the north side of Vermilion for those that would like to brave the cold. We ask that after play to lower nets to help with our winterization.
