“ With fall in full swing, come enjoy the autumn festivities that we have planned for your at the Club."

MESSAGE FROM GEORGE FISCHER

Dear Members,

October is a month filled with crisp air, cool nights, and beautiful autumn days, cozy nights at home with a book or at your Club with family or friends. It is also the month of Halloween, which is funny, spooky, cheerful, and nostalgic.

Whether you mark the holiday by carving a jack-o'-lantern, taking the kids/grandkids trick-or-treating or watching your favorite horror movie it's time for Halloween's spooky spectacle. With fall in full swing come enjoy the autumn festivities that we have planned for you at the Club.

Join us on Saturday October 19th for our annual Fall Fest Celebration! Bring the family and enjoy some exciting activities, entertainment and games along with the beautiful fall weather. And for some thrills, chills, and fun-filled frights you won’t want to miss our Scary Movie Night on October 26th that will be held in the Garden Room. For the more active crowd, we have put together a Halloween themed pickleball social on Friday October 18th, costumes recommended.

Enjoy the fall at your Club and take advantage of the many activities that we have planned. It’s not too early to start planning for the upcoming Holidays. Thanksgiving Reservations open Monday, October 14th!

Sincerely,

TASTES & SIPS

SIP of the MONTH:

THE FORAGER

Step inside and savor our reimagined amaretto sour, enhanced with the richness of ruby port and the depth of black walnut bitters for an added layer of complexity. The beautifully bright cherry notes brought from the port and the rich nuttiness of amaretto scream fall, this cocktail is just one of the highlights of our new cocktail menu. Available in Grand View & Rocks Lounge.

WHAT'S NEW

Garden of the Gods Resort and Club has partnered with candle company The Beauty of Hope to create our own signature scented candle! Our candle is called "Power of Place" and the fragrance is Lilac, Gardenia, and Rose.

We wanted to partner with The Beauty of Hope because 10% of every dollar they receive is donated to non-profits focused on rescuing and bringing restoration to those exploited by human trafficking.

These candles are available at Strata Spa and in the Lilac Boutique. Also avaiiable at the Spa are fall scents for the autumn season.

KISSING CAMELS GOLF CLUB

2024 MIZUNO COLORADO PGA JUNIOR INVITATIONAL

Kissing Camels is proud to host the 2024 Mizuno Colorado PGA Junior Invitational on Saturday & Sunday, October 19-20. This is the season ending event of the Colorado PGA Junior Cup series. Invitation only. We are thrilled to host the top 60 boys and girls in the Colorado Section. Tee times will begin at 9:30am on the North/West courses on Saturday and at the same time on Sunday off West/South courses (weather permitting).

We are in need of member volunteers to marshal and shuttle players from the range to their respective tee boxes. Should you have any interest in volunteering, please email our Director of Golf, Rich Parker, at rparker@gardenofthegodsresort.com

GENERAL COURSE MAINTENANCE TIPS

Please remember to fill your divots with the sand/seed provided on your golf carts. The golf course will show out much better as we move into winter and most importantly into the Spring. Please repair your ball marks and 1-2 others when on the putting surface. Leave it better than you found it. You will be amazed at how much better the greens will roll!

Click here to watch Head Golf Professional, Jon Roth, demonstrate how to fix your pitch marks.

COURSE TRANSITION

We will transition to an 18-hole course at some point in November. This transition worked very well last year, and we hope to keep one 18-hole rotation open throughout the winter season.

IN OUR COURT

TIP OF THE MONTH: THE SPLIT STEP

Whether it be tennis or pickleball, getting ready is always the challenge the longer the points remain. A split step is the most prominent step in preparing for any shot. Many mistakes are from poor preparation for the ball in play. A split step is crucial in having your body ready to move pending the ball that has been hit. A good time to practice this step is every time you see the ball bounce on the opposing side. If your opponents are hitting a volley out of the air, time your split step at that very moment. Good luck out there!

Click here to view watch our Tennis Pro, Neal Cassidy, demonstrate the Split Step.

BREAST CANCER AWARNESS MONTH

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to spreading knowledge, promoting early detection, and supporting those affected by breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide, with 1 in 8 women expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime. However, early detection and healthy lifestyle choices can significantly improve outcomes.

Did you know?

• Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women in the U.S.

• Early-stage breast cancer has a 99% 5-year survival rate when detected early.

• Around 85% of breast cancer cases occur in women with no family history of the disease.

As part of this month’s focus on breast health, we’re highlighting DIM Detox, a supplement designed to support healthy estrogen metabolism and detoxification, which plays a vital role in hormone-related health.

Benefits of DIM Detox:

• Promotes healthy estrogen balance.

• Aids in liver detoxification, reducing the buildup of harmful toxins.

• Supports cellular health and hormone function, which may reduce breast cancer risk.

This October, take a proactive approach to your health by incorporating DIM Detox into your wellness routine. It’s an excellent choice for those looking to support hormone balance and overall breast health. Contact us (719-428-2202) for personalized advice on how DIM Detox can benefit you!
