KC GRILLE RENOVATIONS at Garden of the Gods Resort & Club

We are thrilled to provide you with a glimpse of the re-imagined Kissing Camels Grille. The updated layout of the dining room with the subtle separation of the bar, in addition to the comfort modern elements offers well-being for both those wanting a great dining experience and/or simply a quick cocktail at the bar. Our Vice President of Culinary Chef Nathan Gresham and our Chef de Cuisine, Chef Jayson Leano, have been diligently working on updating the Kissing Camels Menu, bringing back club favorites such as The Smoocher and KC Burger while also adding new menu items such as southern fried chicken, house made meatloaf and braised beef short ribs, as the chefs describe it as, Comfortable Club Cuisine.

08 Nov e mb e r 2023

We are also excited to announce that spearheading our efforts in the dining room will be Brian Groben as the new Kissing Camels Manager. Brian is excited to welcome everyone back to the new dining room and bar. Brian’s efforts in the Grand View and Rocks operations have led to this well-deserved promotion and he is working diligently with the team, selecting local craft beers on draft, classic cocktail, and wine list. In addition, they are working on bringing back nightly specials such as Wednesday Chef’s Special, Prime Rib Night and Sunday’s Burger nights among others, more to come!

Colorado Inactive Score Posting Season from November 14-March 15.

As the season winds down, we ask you to take a look at the wear and tear on your golf grips. Are they in need of re-gripping? if so, please stop by the golf shop and have them re-gripped in time for the 2024 golf season. We have a large selection of grips and if not, we can have them delivered within a 2-day window. We are happy to assist you in the sizing and selection of your grips.

WINTER GOLF INFO Winter Course rotations will begin Wednesday, November 1st. We will do our best to keep a normal 18-hole course rotation in play until we transition entirely to the Winter Course. • Please call ahead for frost & weather delays (719-636-2520) • Frost/weather delays or closures will be emailed via Jonas to all members with tee times on the day of play. • It is recommended there be a maximum of 2 carts per group during the winter course months. the golf course benefits from less cart traffic during the winter months. • The range tee will be limited to the mat area on the south end of the practice tee at some point during the month. • Once the transition has been made to the mats, range balls will be located in the golf shop until spring when practicing only, those members not on the range club will be charged for their range balls. balls are included when playing. • Ladies locker room at kissing camels will be inaccessible until early December, please use the elevator up to the view to use the restroom facilities. • Make sure you are repairing ball marks and filling divots with sand mix provided.

10 Nov e mb e r 2023

If you are traveling to your winter residences and are NOT in an inactive posting season, please remember to post all your scores immediately after playing. As you know, golf is a game of equity, and it is your responsibility to post your scores. Q. An unexpected mid-November warm spell prompts some Colorado golfers to squeeze in a few rounds. True or False: Rising temperatures open the door for late postings. A. False Q. A group of friends in Colorado take a December trip to play three rounds in Florida. What should they do about posting their scores? A. All three rounds are acceptable and should be posted as soon as possible.

COURT TIP OF THE MONTH Are you finding yourself shanking the ball? Looking up at your opponent or where you're hitting the ball prior to making contact? Fix this common mistake by trying to identify the color of the writing on the ball (mostly written in black/sometimes red) after it is struck by your opponent and spinning towards you. This extra attention to the details of the ball will promote you’re watching it until contact (Hint: If you're exceptional you’ll still be watching where the ball was after contact). And remember, the purpose isn't to actually identify the color in flight, but to simply keep your eye on the ball!

TIS THE SEASON

MED

TO SHOW YOUR SKIN SOME LOVE By Staci Shupe Medical Aesthetician & Laser Professional Fresh, radiant, glowing skin is something that we all desire. But what does it take to get it there? A comprehensive skin restoration program can take 12-18 months to achieve ultimate goals and desired outcomes. Advanced planning and a well-designed treatment plan are the first steps on that journey, and knowing when in the year to treat and why helps you be compliant.

There are specific seasons in which it is more appropriate for certain procedures and skincare protocols. Generally speaking, the more intensive, heavy lifting treatments are done in the Fall to late Spring. Leaving the warmer months, May through August, is a time to enjoy the results and show off the progress you made.

Shorter days and cooler weather allow us the benefit of less sun and brisker temperatures in which to assertively treat the skin. Heat and UV exposure are contraindicated for the majority of energy-based treatments such as lasers, IPL and radio frequency, but also for many topical agents and peels that we use to treat discoloration, texture and tone.

Lasers, peels, and microneedling are very popular in the Fall as it is a nice way to clean up the “summer fun” that is now showing on our skin. It is also the ideal time to begin a series of laser hair reduction treatments as it may take up to 8 months to complete that process. Skin discoloration services are also more effective, achieving beter results during this time. Whatever skin goals you have, always begin with a comprehensive evaluation and skin assessment. You want to have a clear understanding of how your skin type can be treated safely and effectively and in a way that fits your lifestyle. Remember, the best foundation that you can wear is healthy glowing skin.

Experience any laser treatment with our Motus AY and receive 20% OFF of a single session for the month of November.* *Offer ends November 30th, 2023. Does not apply to packages, additional restrictions may apply.

I like to think of my skin care calendar beginning in September and going through August. September is the month to get the skin ready for peels and energy-based work. Pre-conditioning the skin with stronger products that have a higher active ingredient percentage will increase dermal activity making it more responsive to treatment with better outcomes.

Courtney and Caleb's Destination Wedding. Courtney and Caleb recently sealed their love with vows exchanged against a backdrop that could only be described as the best view in the world. Hailing from the bustling city of Chicago, IL, the couple planned their dream wedding for over two years. Their excitement was contagious as they discovered that this destination wedding was more than just a ceremony; it was a vacation for their guests, with Courtney describing it as "like summer camp for adults." Over the course of two days, the couple treated their loved ones to Rocky Mountain activities while enjoying the amenities of the Garden of the Gods Resort and Club. 1. WEDDING HIGHLIGHT November is the month of giving thanks and when it comes to a wedding there are so many things our couples are thankful for. A wedding is such a beautiful event for a couple to experience. It is a special day you get to spend surrounded by the people who care about you and your partner so much and are all together in one pace to celebrate your commitment to one another. The amount of love our couples feel during their wedding day is enormous and we know they are so thankful for each and everyone of their guests who traveled near or far to be with them. It is magical to witness all the love, appreciation and thoughfulness that couples receive from their guests and loved ones during their wedding. In a heartwarming moment that brought tears of joy to all our eyes, bride Courtney shared a special "first look" with her grandmother. Courtney's grandmother, who made a long journey from the Midwest, was there to witness her granddaughter's beautiful journey down the aisle into her new life as Mrs. Bauer. The love and emotion in that moment were heartfelt, and it served as a reminder of the cherished bonds that unite us all. We are incredibly thankful to have been a part of this unforgettable day filled with love, family, and heartfelt moments. The bride's dance with her father is a cherished moment that never fails to tug at heartstrings and bring tears of joy to the eyes. The father-daughter relationship is a precious bond, and as he eloquently stated in his heartfelt toast, "She was mine first." With gratitude and a full heart, the father of the bride will forever treasure the memory of twirling his little girl around the dancefloor during their unforgettable first dance. 1. We are proud to announce that Garden of the Gods Resort and Club is once again hosting our annual Thanksgiving food drive in partnership with Care and Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado. After the remarkable success of last year’s campaign, where we delivered a generous 470 pounds of non-perishable food donations, we’re eager to come together with our club members, dedicated resort employees, and our local community to make an even greater impact. The food drive will run from Thursday, November 2nd, through Thursday, November 16th, as we strive to exceed our previous donation and ensure a bountiful Thanksgiving for those in need.

Thoughts from Chef Nathan, VP of Culinary I am very honored to be returning “home” to Garden of the Gods Resort as the Vice President of Culinary Operations. For me its truly a homecoming and I have never felt so welcomed from a staff with such warm regards. I look forward to what we can achieve together as a team, as we go into this new adventure. We are eager to reintroduce KC Grille with a new and exciting menu and ideas, as well as new ideas and concepts from our F&B department. Whenever you are visiting any of our F&B outlets, please feel free to ask for me by name, so we can get to know each other! Thoughts from Michael Garrow, VP of Sales and Marketing

“We are thrilled to welcome Chef Nathan back, particularly during such an exciting time on the heels of our total-property renovation and rebrand of our signature restaurant, Grand View, now open to the public and resort guests alike. We have embarked on a new era, and there is no one better than Chef Nathan to forge community connection and establish our reputation for dynamic five-star food and drink experiences.”
