Warm Spiced Apple Gut-Health Elixir

Ingredients

COOKING TIME: 10-15 MIN

4 cups unsweetened apple juice (natural sweetness with fiber to promote gut health)

1 tsp cinnamon (supports gut microbiome diversity)

½ tsp nutmeg (anti-inflammatory properties that aid digestion)

¼ tsp cloves (rich in antioxidants and promote gut health)

1 tbsp fresh ginger, sliced (helps soothe the digestive tract)

1 orange, sliced (adds vitamin C and a refreshing flavor)

1-2 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup (optional, for added sweetness and prebiotics)

1 star anise (optional, for flavor and additional health benefits)

Directions

In a large saucepan, combine the apple juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger and orange slices

Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat Let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together

If desired, stir in honey or maple syrup to sweeten to taste 3

Strain the elixir to remove the spices and ginger slices 4
