INTERESTED IN DOWNSIZING?

Garden Spot Village residents have the opportunity to move within the community. Often people will choose to move from a cottage or carriage home to an apartment. If this is something you are considering, we invite people to plan for the move. You will be better set up for success when you plan! What’s involved? You can join the Radar Screen for the new home of your choice for a $500 transfer fee. As long as you are downsizing (moving from a larger space to a smaller space), you may not need to pay an additional entrance fee. Be sure to ask, though, so you have the information you need. Renovations for your new home are based upon the 13-year refurbishment schedule in the Resident Handbook. The closer you get to the 13-year refurbishment, the more GSV will cover the cost to renovate your new home. If you have met the 13-year mark and forgo the refurbishment of your current home, GSV will refurbish your new home at no cost to you and cover moving expenses. If the apartment is in good shape, you can choose to not have a complete refurbishment done to save cost. Please note: Residents are given priority access for Radar Screen, but wait time can vary depending upon your preferences. Kelly Sweigart, sales associate says, “A common mistake I see is that people come to me in October hoping they can move before the end of the year. It takes 60 days to renovate the apartment so that must be factored into the timing.”
