A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR It has been an honor to tackle this work with an incredible cast and creative team. I am so grateful to each of them for their talent, openness and commitment to creating a space where this story can be told. It is more important than ever to share stories of prejudice and injustice. We must courageously examine the sins of the past in order to build a better future. Parade highlights the dangers of neighbor turning their back on neighbor and demonstrates what happens when a society chooses to deflect and use a perceived ‘other’ as the scapegoat. We hope this work will inspire conversation, understanding and reflection in our community. Joseph C. Walsh

The Garden Theatre acknowledges that we occupy the ancestral lands of the Timucua and Seminole people, who are the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and live, and recognize their continuing connection to the land, water, and air that Garden Theatre consumes. We pay respect to the Timucuans, Seminoles, and to their elders past, present, and emerging.

There will be a 15 intermission. Content Transparency: Please note this performance of Parade contains themes of racial injustice, suggested sexual content, violence, visual suggestions of death, strobe effects, and flashing lights which some viewers my find distressing. As a courtesy to our performers and audience members, please mute and put away all cell phones and other personal electronic devices during the show. Smoking of any kind, including e-cigarettes, is prohibited within the building. Please keep your belongings out of the aisles as actors may be entering or exiting through the house. To best protect the health and safety of everyone at the Garden, masks are required to be worn at all times inside the building. When in public areas such as the lobby and restrooms, please distance yourself from other guests.

DANIEL MILLS APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM Garden Theatre is honored to house the William Daniel Mills Apprenticeship Program. Harold and Rosy Mills selected the Garden to launch this new apprenticeship program for young diverse artists ages 13 through 22. This generous gift and program was created to honor the memory of their beloved son Daniel Mills, who tragically passed away in 2020. The program, which launched this month, will potentially expand to other arts organizations in Central Florida. For the 2021-22 Season, the Garden accepted 30 apprentices in areas of performance, directing, design/tech, playwriting, stage management, and education. Apprentices take Garden Theatre Education masterclasses, camps, and classes at no cost, in addition to attending rehearsals, performances, and other events also at no cost. Apprentices will also be considered for paid opportunities working on Garden Theatre mainstage productions. “Theatre brought joy to Daniel’s life, and the study of theatre was his passion. He committed himself to learning techniques, styles, and ideologies. He was a true student of the trade. This program’s education and experiential learning focus is a wonderful way to honor our beautiful Daniel,” says the Mills family. The Garden would like to thank the Mills Family for entrusting us to keep Daniel’s legacy thriving in our arts community. The Garden Theatre’s apprentices will be led by Education Director Nick Bazo, Associate Artistic Director Roberta Emerson, and Artistic Director Joseph C. Walsh.

Who’s Who in The Production Team OCEAS RODRIGUEZ (Lead Carpenter) has a background in both Film and Theatre and has a passion for building sets in both fields, starting at the young age of 14 when he started doing film in his after-school club. In high school, he did his first show, Legally Blonde, and stayed in his theatre program for all 4 years of high school and film as well. He has been building sets for both fields for nearly 7 years now and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. He loves learning and taking long walks on the beach. This is his fourth show here at the Garden and he is very excited to be part of this family. NATALIE PAIGE ESTES (Production / Master Electrician) Natalie is excited to return to Garden Theatre as Master Electrician for Parade. Parade will be Natalie’s fourth show at The Garden since moving to Florida (Looped [ASM], Big [ME], The Mountaintop [ME]) from New York City where she worked on, off, and touring Broadway; and in the shop for shows like Jersey Boys, Ragtime, A Christmas Story, Spongebob, Othello, King Kong, School of Rock, The Color Purple, and more. AMBER TEICHER (Scenic Artist) Amber Teicher has been a scenic artist in Orlando for the last 10 years. Her work can be seen at many theaters throughout Florida including the Orlando Repertory Theater and Orlando Shakes, as well as Universal Studios and Disney. She recently painted a mural for Atlanta Aquarium and helped work on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This is her fourth show at the Garden and she is excited to be here. CHEYENNE DALTON (Sound Board Operator - A1) Cheyenne Dalton is an audio engineer based out of Orlando, Florida with a penchant for children’s theatre, rock musicals, and anything fast. Throughout her decade of mixing, her favorite shows have been Assassins, A Year with Frog and Toad, Chicago, The Bodyguard, and The Full Monty. This is her second season with the Garden Theatre. OLLIE WOODWARD (Costume & Makeup Run Chief) is excited to be back for their fifth production at the Garden Theatre! They would like to give special thanks to their family and friends for always encouraging them to follow their passion, and to the Garden for allowing them the opportunity to be part of such an amazing cast and crew! TOM LIMBACHER (Spot Operator) Is excited to once again be joining the team here at the Garden. Last seen onstage in Hands on a Hardbody, Tom has also worked crew for Hairspray, La Cage Aux Folles, Christmas By Committee, and many more.
