GLOSSARY OF TERMS

Katie Corbitt is a senior at Virginia Tech University, Blacksburg, Virginia, majoring in animal science. Raised on a small, self-sustaining farming operation, Katie’s family raised most of the food they ate, including home-raised beef. Katie has taken advantage of every academic opportunity to gain more experience through her responsibilities as a research assistant working on complex swine, dairy and beef projects. She plans to continue post-graduate education and ultimately become an educator at the secondary or university level.

Allison Macklin is a senior animal science major at Penn State University, Airville, Penn. Allison’s long term goal is to return to her family’s operation and start a beef cow herd. She recognizes the value of gaining real world experience in AI, ET, ultrasound, reproduction and cattle handling.

Carly Cole is a K-State senior from Ulysses, Kansas, planning to enter vet school upon completing her undergraduate requirements. Carly began to add to her experience resume through multiple internships and jobs in a large dairy operation, a mixed practice veterinary clinic and the K-State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. She intends to use her internship at GAR to improve her cattle handling skills and gain experience in AI, ultrasound and overall management of a progressive beef operation.
