David Straus, a quarter-century fixture at Gardiner Town Board and Planning Board meetings, died on June 11 at the age of 84. The Chicago-born son of two physicians, David became responsible for measuring his blood sugar several times daily and injecting himself for insulindependent diabetes at age seven.
