Zoë Times Reg No.06655/08
An Introduction of Zoë Mission It is a Christ based inter-denominational and non profitable organization committed to sharing God's love aiming at the welfare of the under-privileged people. It is based in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. Zoë Mission was founded in year 2002 and got th registered in June 20 2008. The reason we have chosen the name Zoë which means “The God Kind Of Life” for our organization, because so many people are just experiencing their life in-humanly and unfulfilled manner. However there is a HIGHER LIFE than what we see and hear.
Our Mission Broadly classified, the major areas which Zoë Mission has started impacting are health education, clothing, and reaching the lost. On the health front, the major activities are medical camps, improving nutritional quotient and awareness drives concerning sanitation, vaccination and general health. As we visited the rural areas of M.P. and slum area of Delhi and NCR we saw - In the peak of winter days and in the rainy season the villagers do not have sufficient clothing as well as footwear. Our focus would be distributing clothes & footwear to those who are not able to afford buying them. In the field of education, we have planned to start a school for the village & slum kids, focusing on promoting logical reasoning, self-learning, self-confidence, human values not only that there are students who already go to some school but due to lack of books and study material they are not able to continue with their studies, we want to sponsor school kit which includes sitting mats, school bag, stationary & notebooks to such students, and to achieve this objective we are working to spread the awareness among the students who study in good and reputed urban schools and using their things that they normally waste like old school bags, water bottle, stationary items etc so that we can not only sensitize urban students but can build a long term relationship between the two poles . Also we are working among the lost and left behind like prisoners, prostitutes, eunuchs, street kids, AIDS victims etc and motivating them by giving moral instructions, personal counseling, speeches, and music. Below are the activities of Zoe in short -
Our Vision “We are called to help the underprivileged, lost, left behind and those who are in need therefore through different projects we are aiming to reach out to the world with God's love, hope, health, equality and education.”

We had been constantly budding our feet in Delhi through our small projects this year. Zoe made the first move towards “ Bal Bharti Public School” in Dwarka followed by Sessions with kids in slum areas of Shabad Dairy and Rohini. living. In order to do so we distributed cloths to the people living in the slum colony.

To create a healthy living environment in slums with our programs.
Shortly we are going to start our work among the lost and left behind as mentioned above in the Project Rihaai.
We have several plans in line to help the underprivileged, lost, left behind and those who are in need with God's love, hope, health, equality and education through different projects. To achieve the same the mantra is not to lose our breath and work together towards a common goal - that is of delivering against all odds. We are looking forward for your continuous support to take up this challenge and making 2009 a successful year for all of us. Thanks and Regards.
Field work of Zoë Mission so far Project Hope- Ek Aasha. Deals with health, medical camps and awareness drives. A team of field officers conduct a survey in order to find out the common disease amongst the villagers. Then we consult with doctors for treatments and the relevant medical camp to be organised and after that we do a follow up survey to take the feedback from the villagers as well as to check the results of the camp.We have already conducted a health camps successfully in the month of August'08 and our plan is to organize these health camps at every 6 month for one village. Our inaugural medical camp was organized on August 2008 wherein we had Dr. Shweta Stephan from Duffrin Hospital. The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Bhupendra Alexender. The doctor attended about 75 kids and over 100 adults for the issues that were related to general health check up. Most of the medicines were pre-bought by Zoë Mission, we not only provided the free health checkup but also gave free medicine to the villagers. Following the doctors' advice, we also had follow up after three days of the health camp patients and no issues were raised proving the success of the camp.
Awareness Drive The Do's and Don'ts, pertaining to sanitation, vaccination, family planning and general health. This involves distributing leaflets, delivering presentations with audio-visuals and doing an odd play. To acquire the content for the awareness drives, we have also approached the nearest PHC (Primary Health Center) which can help us deal with issues like vaccination, family planning, and seasonal diseases, among others. We are also thinking of working with the PHC people to ensure that every single child, in the village that ZOE Mission deals with, has been vaccinated. Not only that as per the recent studies that we came across we found that Pregnancy complications and childbirth-related complications are the major causes of death among women in their reproductive ages. Around 529,000 women die each year from maternal causes; and for every woman who dies, most of them suffers from injuries, infections and disabilities during pregnancy or childbirth. In the past, there have been some studies which have identified adolescent pregnancy, short interval between pregnancies, multi-parity and distance from referral hospitals as the bio-behavioral risk factors. However, these studies are mostly descriptive and conducted in hospitals. Since majority of the deliveries in India are conducted by traditional birth attendants (TBAs), hospital-based estimates may not reveal the real picture. In the populations where obstetric care is poor and the lifetime risk of maternal death is much higher In addition, abortion-related maternal deaths are often not accounted by these studies. Such issues are significantly prevalent in slums, village and underserved populations. In this context we have designed an awareness program for slums and soon we are going to conduct an awareness camp for the same in Delhi and M.P.
Project Prayaas-An Effort Deals with Education and Scholarship program. We are planning to run a Primary school for the Village kids, located in Madhya Pradesh, our teaching task will mainly be carried out by the Zoë Mission members who speak the local language (Hindi & Bundelkhandi ). Instead of adopting a traditional textbook mode of teaching, which is bound to fail for kids coming from this kind of background, we are going with an innovative yet effective mode of teaching. This methodology aims at providing a complete and practical understanding of things around us in addition to emphasis on moral values. The objective is to make the kids self-reliant so that they can survive and compete after they have quit the school. This is why we lay emphasis on logical reasoning, self-learning, self-confidence and to some extent, vocational training. Not only that there are students who already go to some school but due to lack of study material are not able to continue with their studies, we want to sponsor school kit which includes, school bag & notebooks and stationary items to such students.
Project- Zoë Care - Bringing hope to the World Project- Zoë Care deals with Clothing, As mentioned above during Peak of winter days also in the rainy season, the villagers does not have sufficient clothing to cover their bodies, many of them are living unhygienic life, they face problems as they do not have clothes & shoes to wear which result in causing many diseases and poor hygiene. Wherein we encourage villagers to start cleaning their village and in return for this work, they will receive clothes for their entire family. We will achieve multifold results with this process. Much needed work is completed, and the dignity of the villagers remains intact.
Fulfilling a basic need - Out of the three basic needs of mankind (Roti, Kapda aur Makan), we believe that just by re-using our old clothes the problem of clothing can be solved to a very large extent without any major investments, expense, effort and policy decision ..
ZOE BUDDING IN DELHI Zoe's team was motivated when we came to know that out of the 14 million population of Delhi more than 4 million people live in slums, although India is experiencing significant economic growth and increased prosperity, the benefit of this does not trickle down to the level of the slum dwellers. Life in rural villages in India can be hard, with limited opportunities for employment. Over the last 60 years, millions of people have travelled into Delhi from outlying areas in search of work and a better life. The cost of living in the city is far higher than in rural areas, resulting in difficulties even for those who do find employment. Therefore these people starts living next to railway lines, under bridges, on swampy ground, next to 5-star hotels, on waste ground or on pavements but they all have one thing in common; the people who settle there never own the land. The slum dwellers live in constant fear of eviction from their site as the authorities can decide to reclaim the land at any time, giving little notice. Due to their low standard of living they could not afford to match up with the high standards of the cities and thus they make their shelters from whatever they get. Slums now have most of the Delhi outskirts occupied; they are the filthiest areas where anyone could hardly think of living and the number is increasing continuously. Zoe representatives along with the President Mr. Kunji Lall conducted a small interrogative session with the laborers who are working in sector 12 in Dwarka and resides in the slums of sector 19 situated at Dwarka in Delhi. As per Zoe's research the people out there are very poor and most of them are illiterate. The population comprises of almost 150 people out of whom there are 40-50 kids who are at the school going age but could not get admission as they do not have birth certificates. This slum colony is chronically overcrowded and lacks even the most basic amenities of Roti, Kapda aur Makan. Not only that the common health issues the population suffers is from Stomach ache, Fever, malaria, Diarrhea, and vomiting arising as a result of poor hygiene, poor sanitation and lack of clean drinking water. One more thing that came out of our research is that some of these people are so poor that they do not even have clothes to change, Zoe took its first step by distributing clothes among these people Also these laborers were given a presentation on healthy environment, how they can improve their hygiene and food habits in order to stay healthy. There were more than thirty people gathered to whom we distributed clothes and gave information. And the response was tremendous..
Story Time Wait For The Brick A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and drove the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car, shouting, "What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?" The young boy was apologetic. "Please mister ... please, I'm sorry... I didn't know what else to do," he pleaded. "I threw the brick because no one else would stop..." With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. "It's my brother," he said. "He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up." Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, "Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me." Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump
