KINGSBURY KINGSBURY HALL PRESENTING A WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES FOR 80 YEARS
2010-2011 SEASON PRESENTS’
PRESENTING A FOR
WORLDOF POSSIBILITIES
80 YEARS
Since the very first performance at Kingsbury Hall on May 22, 1930, the greatest artists, performers and thinkers of our time have graced this stage. Through the decades, audiences from the University campus, the Salt Lake Valley and throughout the state have been entertained, uplifted, challenged, and inspired by their experiences at Kingsbury Hall. Thousands and thousands of children have passed through the doors, either to see performances or to perform themselves, retaining a love of Kingsbury into their adulthoods. As we look to the next 80 years at Kingsbury Hall, what emerging artists will perfect their craft here? What renowned performers will captivate us? What performances might open our minds to a new vision of humanity? As we collectively, both artists and audience, experience live performances together, we will write Kingsbury Hall’s future.
Instead of a traditional season ticket, Kingsbury Hall’s “Q-Pass” lets you “jump the queue,” getting your tickets before the general public. You also pick and choose only the performances you’d like to see.
HERE’S WHAT YOU GET WITH THE EXCLUSIVE Q-PASS: • Secure the best seats before the general public • No handling fees (during Q-Pass period only) • Same seats for every performance (when available) or best available seats • F ree ticket exchanges to productions with multiple performances

L’INCORONAZIONE DI
POPPEA
THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH LYRIC OPERA ENSEMBLE AND UTAH PHILHARMONIA
Friday, April 29 – Saturday, April 30 I 7:30 pm
The Coronation of Poppea is a love story — of sorts — based on the notoriously debauched Roman court of Nero. With beautiful melodies and interesting textures, Poppea is the earliest opera to remain in the standard repertoire. Dramatically, it still hits the mark. In fact, the characters from Poppea would make for a great cable TV mini-series! Though the music is over 300 hundred years old, the story, painted so brilliantly by Monteverdi, is ageless, beautiful, tantalizing and timely.
IRA GLASS Saturday, June 25 I 7:30 pm
Master storyteller and host of NPR’s popular “This American Life,” Ira Glass weaves tales that bring to life the human side of current events. Onstage with his sound board, he holds a live audience in the palm of his hand, telling the often hilarious stories of his adventures in public radio and the backstories of some of his most well-known broadcasts.

The [Martha Graham] matinee was definitely a hit with the students and many had not been to a live performance of that caliber before, so it made a great impression. Personally, I was very impressed how history and background were woven into the matinee, giving students more information about what they were going to see and to be able to make connections with curriculum taught in class. I just wish I could have brought ALL of my students! Thank you again for your hospitality, charity and support of fine art education in the public schools!
