“Friends of the Forest”

The Preservation Society for Spring Creek Forest is dedicated to protecting and maintaining the forest and preserve in Garland. Spring Creek is a biologically diverse, 230-acre oak forest and prairie with natural and concrete trails, native plants and animals. Join the society for guest speakers, nature walks, special events and monthly work sessions to remove invasive plants, pick up trash and maintain trails. BIRD WALKS WITH REBA COLLINS 1787 Holford Road Nov. 26 and 27 8 to 9:30 a.m. What birds are in Spring Creek Preserve in late fall? Come for a morning walk and find out. Reservations are required. Groups are limited to 10 people per walk because too many people scare away the birds. Contact Reba at rcollins20@verizon.net to reserve your spot. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars.

12th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS IS FOR THE BIRDS 1787 Holford Road Dec. 3 10 to 11:30 a.m. Children will help make biodegradable bird feeders out of peanut butter and bird seed. These feeders will be used to decorate Eastern Red Cedars for the birds of Spring Creek. Decorating of the trees will take place between 10 and 11:30 a.m. If you choose to bring pre-made feeders from home, recipes for acceptable materials can be found at SpringCreekForest.org. FOURTH SUNDAY NATURE WALK SERIES Free group walking tours of the natural areas around the Preserve take place on the fourth Sunday of each month.
