June 13-14: Home Base Implementation Planning Session This session is designed to assist the LEA Home Base implementation team with planning for the roll-out of Home Base. Vendors will be present to work with district teams. Up to 4 representatives per LEA are invited. This event will be held at UNCC in the Cone building.
July 1-2: Home Base training During this 1 ½-day training session, district-level teams will receive training that they are to bring back to their LEA and deliver. One day of training will be on the Classroom Instruction/Assessment piece of Home Base and the other half day will be devoted to learning the online piece of the Educator Evaluation System. Each LEA was given an allotment based on size. This event will be held at Hickory Ridge High School in Cabarrus County.
July 8-9: Region 6 Summer Institute The NCDPI Summer Institute for 2013 will feature 3-hour sessions focused on state-level initiatives such as Home Base and NCEES. There will also be 90-minute sessions designed to provide updates on content areas. The 2-day event will culminate with Facilitated Team Time. Facilitated Team Time is an opportunity for district teams to discuss what was learned during Summer Institute and how the information will be shared in the LEA, as well as how it fits into the district professional development plan. This event will be held at the University Hilton in Charlotte.
July 9-10: TregoED Collaborative Decision Making, Part 1 This event is being sponsored by the Southwest Education Alliance. Kathy Blackburn of TregoED will train district teams on a decision making process. There are 30 spaces available for this event. Registration information will be sent out by the first week of June. This event will be held at UNCC in the Cone building.
July 23: Professional Development Coordinator “Cultivating Capacity Collaborative” Sponsored by the Southwest Education Alliance, this one-day conference will equip LEA professional development coordinators and providers with tools for reaching adult learners. Best practices for delivering professional development will also be discussed. Each LEA is allotted an amount of attendees based on size. Registration information will be sent to professional development coordinators in each LEA. This event will be held at UNCC in the Fretwell building. July 29-30: TregoED Collaborative Decision Making, Part 2 This will be a follow-up session to the one offered on July 9-10. This event will be held at UNCC.
August 7-8: Gaston Teaching and Learning Conference The Southwest Education Alliance is sponsoring this conference in August. There will be spaces available to RESA members. The conference will have concurrent sessions as well as keynote speakers on both days. This event will be held at Gaston College.
